What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I saw this and posted it a couple of months ago. A Scion parked next to my truck. They guy was eating lunch in the car so I had to be a bit coy about getting the pic.

Added a tensioner pulley to the shop vac hose reel. Replaced the cooked 30 amp load center for the compressor with a 70 amp one. Wrangled lightburn. Burnt some leather flyswatter heads.

Grabbed tools.
Went out in the yard to replace a leaky hose reel feeder hose.
Took tools back to the garage.
Placed said tools in their applicable drawers.
Locked garage.

I don’t feel that way about all Honda products, the V65 Magna is a work of art, as is the NightHawk S. For cars, an NSX has to be one of the best looking cars ever. And this coming from a life long GM guy, he’ll, I’ve even seen a few GTR‘s that were pretty cool looking. Not to mention the old IMSA GTX stuff from the 80’s and 90’s I think?

Worked a little out in the garage rebuilding parts on my Delta RI motor...
Made a new shorting necklace to replace the original distorted garter spring...
I ordered an oversized spring that allowed me to cut it to size to fit... One end has a tapered cone that screws into the cut end...

New cut and assembled garter spring (Joint is at 12 o'clock)...


Installed onto the copper shorting necklace...

With startup on a RI motor, the cycle begins with repulsion up to approximately 75-80% of the rated motor speed....
Then centrifugal force throws the copper contacts out and shorts the commutator and at that point it switches over to induction running... Spring tension determines when that occurs....
I have my table top drill set up with a laser tachometer to tune the speed at which point the spring releases for the changeover to induction...

Couple days ago, we pulled most of the stuff out of the garage and re organized boxes and tossed some stuff. Moved the couch over so now we can play the video games in the garage. Eventually we will get rid of the baby stuff that we have and free up more space. Hopefully one day get some gym equipment in there.

Cut some 2x4's and OSB to make a frame/box for my basement subpanel at the new place. Framed it up, hung it in the basement, mounted the breaker box, terminated the main, installed one circuit to an outlet below, and fired it up. She's live!

As bad as grinding or burning bone or horn. Luckily, I added a power vent to the laser burner case, and vented it outdoors. The weasels n birdies get to smell it instead of me. There was just a little leakage into the shop due to wind today. The wind kind of fought with the vent fan. After all was done, I opened the doors and turned on the big vent blower to clear that little bit out. It took maybe 5 minutes.

Now I want to dabble in Vises. I picked up my first. Just a Craftsman 3.5 made in USA. Now I want something bigger and nicer. From my recent research I'm thinking a nice Reed. Maybe 4" or bigger. Think I'd like a swivel base.

Any thoughts or Advice?

You are on the right track! I'd do some thinking on use cases - will holding objects not square be something you do? a swivel jaw vise is made for that. See the "Vises of GJ" thread.

Not even close. They're the backstop for the chopsaw and RAS. The white circle is the dust collector port. Very little escapes it.

Dragged out the pressure washer and snake. Scooped out the final ubend. Ran the pressure snake through the line. Scooped some more. Closed up the pipes. Put away the pressure washer. Laid out a project on the metal bench. Vacuumed out the laser burner. Burned another herd of things. Vacuumed the floor. Cleaned n bagged kits.

Stuffed some 28x9.0 Radial slicks onto the 88 coupe. Car has a complete OEM setup so full exhaust with tailpipes and quad shocks. Did not modify the inner fenders or roll the outer lip at all. I was surprised.

Unfortunately, in my quest to beat the weather and finish up this stucco wall, my 54 year-old body decided that I had over used my left arm, neck and back muscles leading to two chiropractor visits, a doctor visit, and 4 weeks of PT to get me right. I am in the middle of healing back up so I hope to be back in fighting shape by the spring. Feeling is back in my thumb, now waiting for my numb finger to wake up again. The PT is using "dry needed" thearpy which I hope helps speed the recovery. First time for me to go down due to overwork so a new experience for me. I am sure I'll be back and ready to hurt myself again very soon This old-age thing appears to be real and surprisingly may also apply to me....

After repairing the rough stucco, brush priming the repairs, a 1"3/4 nap roller on a 25 feet tall scissor lift was just too much for me in one week. I rolled, screaming out of bed on Monday morning convinced a hot shower and a couple days of tylenol would solve my problem. This was NOT to be the case this time.

Good news is that wall looks great with just 25 gallons of the primer and I can use the cold weather to heal up and be ready to put a final coat on as soon as the temps turn up in February. The plan is to finish this restoration project before it finishes me.....

In the mean time I put the cars back in the shop portion and have decided to take it easy and just enjoy what I have accomplished so far.

If that’s a stick, and it hooks good at the track, your fenders might get rolled whether you like it or not. lol

Gave the Z a compression test (clean bill of health) and put her up on jackstands, ate breakfast, fullfilled my daddy duties for a bit, then started on pulling the motor to TT it. Got the exhaust, driveshaft, and trans dropped and coolant drained. Motor hopefully will be on a stand Monday. Goal is to have boost to it by end of January.

Thank you! I fell in love with them first time I saw one. I was in my Foxbody Mustang in about 2000 and pulled up behind one at a stop light. I had no idea what it was, just that it was a BMW. I just knew this tiny car with huge fenders and fat tires looked awesome and that there was no way I could afford one. I wanted one ever since that day and finally picked this one up about 5 years ago. It's really a fun car.

Funny enough the first time I saw one it was in my foxbody mustang as well and it was the rear of that car that had me drooling. The wide tires , bulging fenders and dual exhaust was everything I wanted
