Nice bath
Happy Christmas and new year to you and all your family.

Best wishes

Re the tub. Stand it up on end, put a hammer through the plug hole, get a good grip on the handle, hoik it on to your shoulder and run up those stairs.
I saw it done on site once, many years ago, the guy was a bit of a monster though.

Merry Christmas! This will probably be the calmest one you have for the next 15 or 20 years but it's fun!

Merry Christmas to you.
I'm actually really excited for next year. This was fantastic, but sort of a strange Christmas with everything else going on.

Lol. Merry Christmas to you as well.

I'm not so sure I'll swing it over my shoulder. Even at only 360lbs or so. (The feet are about 15lbs each so 60 less than the spec) I think I'll play it safe.

And those of us who know are a tiny bit jealous….enjoy!

Thank you. We are certainly enjoying it.

Merry Christmas to you and the family.

Congratulations on the new addition. It’s quite of a Christmas gift.

Merry Christmas to you as well.

Thank you. My wife and I actually didn't get each other anything for Christmas this year because we couldn't top what we already got.

Jar, you have a new club member. It's the Christmas/Birthday club for people born on or around Christmas. You'll have to take special care not to combine the two events. As someone said, getting one sock for your birthday and the second for Christmas creates a special kind of heart break. My brother-in-law was born January 1st and whined that he never got a birthday party. When he was little, his parents should have told him all the hangovers and fireworks were to celebrate his birthday.

My b’day is 21/12 or 12/21 if you’re American, and plenty of relatives used to give one present and mark it as both. It’s just not right.
I did know a girl whose birthday was Christmas Day, that was the worst Wendy Berry was her name with Holly being her middle name.
I kid you not.

My wife and I had that conversation a couple hours after we found out the due date. She suggested 1/2 birthday party in June.

At a minimum we plan on a completely separate birthday party, separate from the Christmas party.

Nammed Holly Berry and having a Christmas birthday has to be rough.

Jar, that big boy M18 would be almost useless to me unless I could hold it between my legs when I pulled the trigger. I have a B&D 1/2" corded hammer drill that I use only when there's a way to brace it -- it gave me a sprained wrist the first time I used it when the carbide bit jammed on a hard pebble in the concrete I was drilling.

Don't worry Bob i expect the high torque is overkill for the majority of people, even here.

Picture below is my brothers, load cell for material testing equipment that needed split in half. His Aircat 1150 got laughed at by those bolts holding the 2 halves together, before he got medieval on it he stuck the big milwaukee m18 on it and it spun them loose without issue. That threaded spindle on the center is 2-3/4" diameter, OD of overall loadcell is 12" for scale

Bob, I still have a scar on my forehead from old all metal 1/2" drill. I was drilling a 3/4" hole in some steel bar at chest height when it caught, spun out of my hands and cracked me in the head with the handle. I saw stars, and got seven stitches.

The high torque it 100% overkill and was more of a why not purchase. The older mid torque I have hasn't always removed everything I've attempted and not having to pull a air hose seems like a plus. That said the 15 year old 1/2" harbor freight earthquake impact wrenche has removed everything I've tried though I've run it up to 160+ psi if it didn't on the first or second try.

Nice. The high tq has some heft to it, more than I was expecting. The irritating part is I paid more for my original 3/8 than the new high tq.

I mean If I'm going to snap bolts off, I might as well make it easier on my knuckles.

I’m sure Bluey will sound great with that sub…

He seems to be indifferent to what's playing currently. But minions sound good.
20241229_191139.jpg

New sub, prompted a new receiver.
20241229_112427.jpg

Which really shows the limitations of my garbage fronts and center speakers.

Anyone have any suggestions on a sub $500 pair of bookshelf speakers?

Looks like a nice evening. Reminds me I need to finally buy a screen for our projector. Upgraded the speakers a couple years ago but still need to get a matching sub.

It was a great evening with the three of us.

This theater has been a very haphazard and poorly executed process. I was trying to be cheap and just had to do everything twice or more.

We bought a relatively inexpensive 1080 projector and it sat in a box for a year or so, then when I finally did get in installed I paired it with a samsung ht-j5500w ($300 all in one home theater in a box.) Which had terrible sound quality. It made watching movies less than stellar in there. The screen was also an afterthought and I had to cut the feet off the center cabinet for it to fit. It was a theater but since we upgraded our living room TV to 86" 5 years or so ago and added a Sony hta 5000 sound bar and sub this past summer we never used it.

About year and a half ago I noticed the receiver died and it sat until this past summer when I picked up a denon 570 receiver and connected it to the existing Samsung satellite speakers (sub didn't work with the denon) in researching I found the budget audiophile subreddit and read up a bit on different setups. That setup was both better and worse sounding. I didnt want to spend any more money at the time so it sat unused.

Since (for a variety or reasons) I've been on a buying spree lately..lol I checked out svs and noticed the holiday sale and ordered the sub. Then a few days later noticed costco had the denon x1700h on sale (for less that I paid for the 570 6 months ago).. in for a penny as it were..

Now watching minions the other night the dialog was clear, the bass was finally there but its still lacking a lot overall. Which is no surprise considering the left right and center front speakers are still glorified computer speakers from the original Samsung setup. So I ordered the KEFs to hopefully fix most of that.

Now I'm looking at some inexpensive atmos ceiling speakers, and expect that the center will now be the next problem (still from the original Samsung)

HT is a deep rabbit hole. It's also a fun one. SVS certainly has a strong following and that new Denon will serve you well. You're right, the center will quickly become the issue. I'd consider addressing that before adding atmos. Since you're in spend mode (and announced it on Garage Journal, :eyecrazy:), you should pair the Q350s with a KEF Reference 4 Meta.

Happy new year!

Lol 😆 that KEF is a bit more than I'm planning on spending.
I'm more in the svs prime center or kef q250 price range.

Is your theater a 5.1 setup? In a 5.1 mix dialogue mostly comes through the center channel. Not to add to your list of upgrades but I would prioritize a good center channel speaker, as dialogue is often a huge part of tv shows and movies!

I have a home theater setup but am not a buff on tech specs. But in general if you’re picking off pieces one by one to upgrade, I would prioritize quality speakers for center —> sub —> front L/R —> rear satellites, in that order (for 5.1). Just my .02… sounds like you’re well on your way though!

Enjoy the newborn sleep coma while it lasts!

The room is currently setup for 5.1. The new receiver is 7.1.2 I might just run it as a 2.1 until I get a new center channel.

My 63 year old sister in law still pisses and moans about her birthday being on Christmas day. How she was deprived as a child....blah blah blah
My girlfriends birthday is on Christmas. I always made sure to keep them separate from the start but have learned over the years of all the relatives and friends that either combine or just completely forget her birthday. It definitely can be a sore point.

I agree the center channel is a hugely important piece. One of the reason why I think that at a minium any place you plan to watch a decent amount of TV need to have at least a 3.1 setup. The center is much more important that rears for most things.

I had tracked down two separate kef q250 center channel speakers (open box 70% discount) but both disappeared after I paid and went to pick them up yesterday.

So I search on..

I've got the expert experience gained from doing something twice lol. We have done a lot wrong with our kids I'm sure(ages 6 and 3) but we got this book recommendation from one of my team members when we were expecting our first and gave it a try and it worked for both of ours. Our older slept thru the night at 6 weeks, our younger at like 7 or 8 weeks and they both still go to bed without much fussing, and sleep thru the night without getting up.

Babywise Sleep Solutions: Begin as You Mean to Go with (To the Point) https://a.co/d/cz6H4Oi

It wasn't hard to do, just get into the cycle they promote, and work to keep it consistent when possible. The hardest part at first was letting them cry it out for a bit...and it was actually tougher for the grandparents then it was for the parents....we were too sleep exhausted to have feelings I think lol. Once they got used to it...crying stopped and right to sleep

That laundry room does look beautiful. I really like molding detail and the hardware used on the doors and cabinets.

GFI stuck out for me as well, I get it use what you have at the time.

So now some dumb questions.

Where are the dirty clothes waiting to be washed?

Once dried/washed I don't see a flat surface big enough to place them and fold. Maybe the pictures are deceiving me.

Is the ironing board store in one of the cabinets?

Or are all my questions answered with this small snippet of a table on wheels that usually will sit in the middle of the room?

The dirty clothes are in the large drawer to the left of the sink, it's a pullout drawer with double hampers.

The ironing board is in another room, never did quite figure out where to store in with the design.

The table to fold clothes on, as you noticed in the one pic normally is under the window. I just moved it for the pictures. The top needs replaced as neither my wife or myself like it.
