2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

A good start to the weekend.
Went to a local megachurch & was able to score a lifetime supply of Levi's at a buck each. (some new w/tags).
On the way home passed a pair of TOOs.
First stop a total of $35.00 He kept saying, a dollar & "just want to get rid of it".
Box of small 3-way pullers, couple USA couple Chinese.
Box of Brigs flywheel stuff.
Antifreeze, Oil & whatnot.

and a Snap-on SSD-18 handle with a shank that looks sketchy. Too nice a chrome with so rough a handle?


Second stop, folks were setting up for a sale tomorrow, but were cool with me looking around.
I picked up these pieces each time asking how much & the answer was 2 or 3 bucks.
Coleman 11-78 ,Charger near mint, & the lawn darts just because they are not healthy to have around.

I asked are there any other things like tools in the basement & down we went....
A no name box & everything in it.
Not really great stuff, but the Craftsman stuff is near mint.
We settled on $100. for everything down there.

All pieces are -V-.
3 sizes ratchets, deep & shallow sockets 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 drive


The rest of the box was a lot of junk tools with a few exceptions.
Wilton is USA.


Oh, yeah,
Box & 1/2 of 222 Rem, 1/2 boxes of30-30, spent brass, & what I'll call a kids plinking belt, filled with LR & shorts. I say kids because it is about 10" too short to fit around my gut...

Went to my local tip/recycling center to dump some garden waste this morning. Had a quick look at the stuff put aside for sale and came away with the following for £5.



Multi bin storage box
Unopened tarpaulin repair kit.
3" Eclipse engineers clamp.
2" Moore & Wright engineers clamp.
Small Moore & Wright tap wrench wit 8BA tap.
Weralit VDE 1000v screw holding #2 Phillips driver. I've never see one like this before. The insulated shroud around the shaft is spring loaded and is moved forward by the thumb.

Went to unhook the trailer this morning, and was surprised that the tongue popped up (slowly) off the ball. I lowered the jack, and it stayed put, so my balance was almost neutral on the axle. (Ideally, you want some tongue weight.)

After staring at the racks for a few minutes, I realized that the problem was, we loaded all of the corrugated steel shelves under the rack at the back of the trailer. You can see them (and the jack stands I used to solve the problem for now) in this pic...



BTW, the trailer is registered and has a license plate. I've destroyed too many of those by installing them on the provided hangers on various trailers (too exposed and sometimes too low). On this trailer, I've installed it onto the rear gate. One of these days, I'll run a wire to it so I can add a light to it.

I'm Back!
I haven't yet looked over the last 14 pages for the multitude of concerned inquiries I'm sure to find, but rest assured, no harm came to me and my circadian rhythm is back on good ole Central Time.
SWMBO and I spent nearly four weeks traveling by train--mostly in southern Germany with a quick dash into Austria to see Salzburg and four days in Prague, CZ. We spent the last week with my cousin, visiting my Mom's side of the family. My crappy German got a real workout!

My only showing for my time in Europe is the two-metre "Metre" that my cousin, who has his own metal fabrication business, gave to my wife.


Getting back into the swing of things here, we hit two sales today, both of which were extremely pleasantly priced in the tool department.

-Partial CM 1/4" set with seven bonus metric sockets
-Heavy Duty wire brush
-Extendable shop mirror
-Diamalloy 6" adjustable with green handle
-Starrett S555-7 Jeweler's set with two extra
-Craftsman Crown 4306 Ignition Wrench Set with three CM metric combos
-Rack of 1/2" drive CM with four metric and an offshore 1/2 to 3/4 adapter
$10.55 for everything.

Chinese tire inflator from Lidl and Craftsman SAE socket sets with RHFT ratchets and what looks like some extras.

Today's meager haul, two stops:



The lanterns are from the first stop, Coleman 243A (blue, first for my collection), Sept. '35; 242C, May '50. Both have original globes! I offered $20 each,as the seller is a friend--he actually stopped by the shop to let me know he had them. No extra charge for 2 lb of mud daubber nests. Regardless the appearance, both seem to be in good shape and will clean up nicely.

The vice is a Chas. Parker No. 954 1/2.

Apparently not. The jaw is grooved, 'though.

Seems like a pretty clumsy tool for cutting tubing, really.

If you mean yours, that's the only one I have ever seen, Jim. I don't recall seeing the clip/insert in the Flash era literature (brochures, foldouts, etc) documenting all the various extra jaws and accessories. Including that phenomenal salesman's kit in the case.

A bevy of 6” adjustables including a Masterench (my first), a Ridgid, two Danielson Bet’r Grip, and two Crescent.


More Crescent including a pipe wrench, awl, and 4” cutting pliers.


Snap On shear, ratcheting driver with bits, and wrench. Matco awl.


A few Craftsman items, Vise Grips, and Starrett calipers.


But, my favorite item is a Daisy Red Rider No. 111, Model 40 from the 1940’s that is deadly accurate. [Sorry for the bad picture.]


Last was a TOO sale on the way to the golf course where I scored this lot for $10. The Craftsman screwdriver is a Circle G code.

I just wanted to show off my 12' Sea King I picked up tonight. I purchased it from my Boss at work and came with the trailer and an electronic trolling motor for $500. I think I got a pretty good deal. The trailer and boat need some light work but nothing that I can't handle.
