I would run the Baldwin but I pretty much only run Wix. Fram is my last choice.
Wonder what makes us choose what we choose. For me, maybe it was the years of, "pay me now, or pay me later", commercials. ;) Never had a problem with them.

Sometimes I even use the Motomaster if they are on sale.

Many, many moons ago, I made the dies that printed the Purolator Oil Filters. I also sent a lot of off brand stuff for Purolator. It was all made by the same company.

Got my truck back up and running again with my little helper nephews lol. It blew a spark plug back in November and i finally got around to fixing it with an insert. I love my truck only 115,000 on it. My nephews and niece are staying with us for a few days while my sister recovers from her c section of her fourth child and now my youngest nephew so I have 1 niece and 3 nephews now. The oldest nephew is very curious and loves helping me. His name is Vincent and he is 6 turning 7 this year.

What year is that? I had an 86 b2000 I think it was, or maybe not, 4 banger, probably the lower b whatever that is. 4 speed manual. It was a really good truck, even hauled wood with it, though the springs didn't appreciate it. Rust ate it long before anything went wrong with the engine.

1989. I had a twin model that was a 90 but I sold that one. This is my first car the 89 one.

For road trips in our previous truck (2012 Ram) we sat a Pelican 20 qt cooler in between the front 40/20/40 bench and back seats. It worked very well. Last year we bought a new 2024 Ram, this one was churched up a bit with a center console which has HVAC vents and USB charging ports. The larger console and rear in floor cup holders didn't work with the cooler, it rested on the console and blocked the vents and charging ports. So, I went ahead and made a shelf for the cooler to sit on that solved those problems.

The knurled knobs clamp the back to the floor so the whole assembly doesn't tip forward during a quick stop.

Nice. We use a soft sided cooler that's just a bit wider than yours. It slides in just about perfectly in the same spot. So little air comes out those rear air vents that the kids can't even notice they're partially blocked by the cooler.

If we have our dogs with us, they take up that entire middle section, so the cooler goes in the bed. The dogs block ALL the air (and most of the rear seat for that matter). The kids end up wedged up against the doors.

Few tacks and she's done.

Ran out of box tape so I'll have to head out tomorrow to buy some so I can ship this thing.

Here's the one I made for them a few months ago.

Update - sent these pics to my customer and he asked if I could weld it up.

He offered to pay more in labor but I told him no change, same price.

I should've asked if he wanted welds instead of tacks so my fault; made doing some beads challenging since I run a larger 300 amp nozzle with .035 wire.

Edit: Cleaned up and ready to go.

I feel like you may have mentioned it already, but my memory is horrible. What is it?

While I was changing oil yesterday, a perfect opportunity to lube and rust-proof my oil filter wrench and 3" extension presented itself. All I had to do was bobble my grip on the extension when the final thread of the filter let loose and drop the whole shebang into the oil drain pan!

I meant to do it. Honest.
That is what I keep saying

It's a metal creation of an artist's design.

A few months back on another forum, someone was looking for a welder/fabricator.

The goal was to find someone that can create said vision into a metal version and when the thread was posted, I was tagged in it and recommended to do the job.

In talking to the author of the thread, I find out his mother is an artist. She will have ideas and will create a mock up in paper, like the example I posted above.

I created that first piece to exact specification and they absolutely loved it so this one I put together was a second job from them. Except instead of dimensions, converting, and scaling, the paper form was mailed to me to figure it all out.

Here's that first piece I did after it arrived to them.

I dont pass on small jobs, and I think that's the main reason why I've always got work coming in.

Figured out why my car had been throwing a misfire code recently, turns out the valve cover gasket i replaced a few months back was leaking terribly, and dumping oil into the all of plug wells. New gasket should be into my local O'Reilly's tomorrow morning, so I went ahead and pulled the valve cover back off in preparation

Also made a replacement block for the bottom door hinge on the lazy susan cabinet in our house, the original was just plywood and had stripped out once before

Huh? I rode street bikes, raced/rode flat track, desert, and motocross for years. That makes no sense at all to me. :dunno:
Honestly I never searched for the rationale. It took 5 min. to find this article.

Changed a ac compressor, hose, evacuated, checked for leaks, charged ac system... works well. ( truck) Charged my camaro battery( wife unpluged the battery tender with the electronics drain in the car totally dead battery) grrr optima battery's tend not to recover well from totally dead. She torched the last one a few years ago same thing. I should have turned the master disconnect off like I do in the winter. Cleaned up a couple of cars for a local car show tomorrow. Me and one of the sons going to take them to the show. Finished up the day thinking and looking at the enclosed trailer I just bought to pull along behind the car for a drag and drive this September on how I want to set up for tools, fuel, slicks etc...

Well, I'm sure they've done more research than I have. It's predicated on the same chain rollers catching the same sprocket teeth every time. I don't see how that impacts the wear, but.... whatever.

He is right, there is some catch with tooth engagement on different ratios,i think (but not sure) that now i run 3.0 ratio. But its always better to go up on the rear sprocket than down on the front, and yea smaller sprocket on the front wears chain and sprocket faster.

In the middle of moving, mowing, and all the daily BS, I had to find time (5 hours!) to tear down the washing machine and replace the drum bearings that have been howling for years. I went ahead and ordered new drum struts, drive belt and drum seal too. I figure I might as well replace everything while I had it open. I don't have my main tools moved yet, so I had to do the job out of my road box. Oh well, it's done, and hopefully it'll last a while longer. I believe it's about 20 years old now, which is crazy old for a consumer-grade front loader, lol.

Good thing I ordered the struts too, the left side (visible in the pic off to the side) was broken off, and the right side just fell apart when I took it out. It had no tube seal left, the halves just fell apart from each other.

I tested it in the driveway with the garden hose and it works. Much quieter, albeit there still is a slight bearing noise coming from the motor now. It was drowned out by the drum bearing. Oh well, the motor is easy to change, I can do that later. Now to finish the drain plumbing in the house so I can actually use it indoors, lol.

But… then the Tacoma with the steering rack is back because it started leaking again so I do have to do it again dang it lol. I told them it’s not going to be till Monday minimum and may roll into Tuesday but at least I’m prepared for it now lol. Another whopping 3.5 hours lol. My boss inquired about possibly getting extra time and they said nope if the ten technicians we test average 3.5 hours then everyone gets 3.5 hours. The way time is determined for warranty is they get 10 technicians who are selected at random and paid and they have them all do the job and see how long it takes and then average out the time. I’d like to know who in the world is doing one in 3.5 hours because I sure wish I had their skills. I’m fine if I never have to do one again after this lol especially warranty. Also it concerns me that the reman racks are so cheaply made that the boots are held on with zip ties instead of clamps.
Any chance of submitting a labor claim with the remanufacturer?

Today I replaced the worn out anti-scalping wheels on the JD mower deck with new because the old were doing a pretty good job of scalping my grass when turning.... Just mowed the lawn and the new wheels work as they should...

Finished a couple good sized projects over the last couple weeks.
Time to reclaim the garage bench space.

Cleaned, flung, organized, and relegated a **** ton of wood scraps to the fire pit can.
Long, mostly thin, off cuts that I’m saving stored between the studs in the shed.
IMG_5496.jpeg
Dowels, pipe, threaded rod, aluminum flat stock, etc. stored on the inside of the shed door.

Garage and garage adjacent, added another shelf in the laundry room area. Got tools and cut some of the wire shelving in the garage. The room is right about six feet wide. Probably the third or fourth time I have added or moved shelves in the laundry area over the years My wife wanted/needed some place better to hang clothes that she doesn't put in the dryer. So a deeper wire shelf fit the bill. I moved one small, about 12" wide, shelf up and placed the new 20" wide shelf in it's place. Now the wider shelf sticks out enough for hangers to clear the lower shelves enough, and if it's still not enough space I can add the closet rod brackets and that would put a rod another couple inches out.
