That's a smokin' seal, but I've already got the 4-piece Snap On set that I gave "A HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS" for many, many years ago when I was stupid(er) and options were few. :lol_hitti

Dear Valued Customer,

Please accept our apologies for a pricing error on the Jet 354165 Drill Press that you purchased from us over the weekend on our storefront at Amazon.com. A technical glitch caused the price to be set to $7.00, instead of the regular price of $456.99. While we value your business and strive to have satisfied customers, we unfortunately cannot honor the lower price and have cancelled your order.

Thank you very much for your understanding during this awkward moment. We would never intentionally inconvenience or mislead you in any way. Please accept this $20 coupon valid on any order over $149 from our Amazon.com storefront. Simply enter the code ‘OOPS1026’ during checkout to apply the discount. It isn’t quite a drill press for $7, but it’s a little something to say that we appreciate your business and hope you shop with us again soon. The coupon is valid until Friday, October 29th at midnight.

Thank you again for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Manock | Marketplaces Specialist | CPO Commerce, Inc.

Weekly Score

Even though it's down right frustrating at times, you gotta love Amazon's weird pricing.

Here's my score from last week:

My apologies.

I don't think Amazon is so stupid. If you want your cheap items shipped for free you have to keep buying more until you get to $25. Or pay for Prime. Either way, they're selling and you're buying...money from your wallet to theirs.

My guess is that there was some sort of closeout thing happening this last time. It'll be interesting to see if all the items bought for cheap actually get restocked.

Amazon isn't stupid...they understand demand, which is why their prices adjust automatically to demand.

In other words, they lure in Garage Journal members and then inflate the price. :)

I'm sure glad I didn't get that $20 coupon, can't afford to spend $149 on tools right now. ;)

***actually I would be on there right now looking for more, found radiator cap I liked last night with a temp gauge built in.

It's done automatically - a sale sometimes triggers the price to jump up, but it depends on many things. Sometimes the price will continue to drop.

The $20 off $150 coupon is on their site now with a different code. In other words, they're not really doing anything special for those that had their $7 drill press orders cancelled.

Bahco 1/4" set $35 (from $100). If you buy it please sell me the orange handled driver!

That does look pretty nice... price is up to about $40 now with shipping...

By the way... are these Baco things like sockets and pliers about equal in durability to snap on? Anyone know?

Google is showing about the same price from most vendors, $30 to $40 on the Bahco 75-803114. Looks like the old imaginary inflated list price thing.

JayL,

Harry Epstein is selling an 11 piece, 3/8" drive, socket and wrench set here:
http://store.harryepstein.com/cp/WilliamsD/50301.html. It is listed as made in Taiwan.

If you look at the ratchet handle design and the knurling on the extension bars on Harry Epstein's website, it is the same as the respective tools included in the Amazon set.

Dave

Oh, you sonnomab***h!!! :bounce: Why, oh WHY did you have to make me aware of that site? Just what I needed. Another place to spend money.:lol_hitti

Or place your order and THEN tell GJ about it. Like my recent order:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004SBAT/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Mike,

How many did you order?

I clicked on your link about 3 minutes after you posted. Amazon said, "Only 3 left in stock--order soon." I punched 3 into the quantity box and proceeded quickly through the checkout process (sorry fellow GJers!). My package arrived today. That's right, $2.20 each plus shipping. $15.30 delivered to my front door and they included a free microfiber towel as well.

Oh, what's that? Look real close. Oh yeah! These are Made in USA! Double tap!

Heh. This almost makes up for getting fawked over by that b1itch on eBay last week.
