I came across this posting today, $20 for a bunch of old tools and they come in a box, I’m in!

I’m hoping someone else knows more than me about this stuff. After separating out all the junk tools, etc what I was left with was a bunch of 3/4”, 1/2”, and 3/8” drive Bonney tools as well as some kool USA tools of other brands. Super old Mac wrenches made pre chrome plating. Good size lot of craftsman with a 1/4” rhft I’ve been looking for.

As far as the tool box itself it’s pretty old, I think it might have been original to the Bonney set, but someone would know more than me.

That's a very nice find!!! Congratulations, Timoboy. Your earned your "You ****" award!!!

Here is the one with the sticker. You can buy the stickers on e-bay, but they have slight differences. If you want an exact copy, may be somebody can help create one (I can make a close up picture of the emblem (not in the best shape, but can be modified prior to printing)

Forgot to add - please post your box to the Spreading The Bonney Affliction thread

... Just noticed that the image of SO sockets was upside down - added it again...

The vintage (20s-30s) SO sockets are not included in this list. There was one more vintage set on top of a hehagonal L-drive, but I did not clean it up yet...

... Do not ask how long it took to clean this - lost motivation multiple times. I guess sometimes I just can not leave the tools which could end up in trash behind...
I see a 1/2” drive Indestro 3217 universal in your large haul. I found one on Saturday and after it came out of the evaporust yesterday I added it to my GMTK spares. Many aren’t Indestro marked.IMG_7454.jpeg

Yesterday's FBM find Craftsman 7-1/4" cordless trim saw. Included a battery and charger. I have the Dewalt similar version of this saw and love it. We use these pretty extensively on site for either cutting z-bar aluminum or plastic track for acoustical fabric walls. This saw seems to be a few pounds lighter than the Dewalt. The Dewalt has a few more casting bits/handle etc. Trying out a couple economy blades (Harbor Freight) just to see how they hold up. I may seek out more batteries as this only came with 1 -2.0 battery, but it's the only 20 v Craftsman tool I currently have. I will likely offer it up to my co-workers as we all have a fondness for the portable saws , and we all often work separately across several jobsites.

Wow! You ****! That’s 3/4 of the original Bonney contents of the MC1 Bench Set, bmwrd0 pointed out on p27 of the 1943 catalog.
Congratulations!
I second Shelbylex’s request that you post them on the Bonney thread.

I had a pretty good morning today.
You sure did!
The box is a Kwality Kases leatherette. Never heard of them but it seems well made. So here’s what I got for $60
Neato! You ****!
Had a good day myself. Everything was half off, got all of this for $25. The socket set is a Stevens Walden. The contents of the organizer were a bonus, I really just wanted the box.
That's a decent price for the organizer alone, methinks.

@Shelbylex ***** for his 2025 find!

Yep you ****!
I got pretty lucky and landed a freebie. 2”x72” black walnut slab.

A local industrial supply store (Kitts) was having a sale at their warehouse. Everything was $2 a pound.

I did not get up to the front of the line before a worker looked through my box and said $20. I have no idea if I came out ahead by weight or not. Anyways… this was $20. It is mostly Grey Pneumatic and Wright. The bagged sockets near the top are Grey Pneumatic 3/4”x 19mm-29mm, 32mm and 34mm. I could not find a 30mm.

Allinc… you need to go to this sale tomorrow.IMG_5697.jpeg

Went back to the Kitts warehouse sale today.

Grey Pneumatic sockets, Wright sockets, four sets of made in USA drill bits (1/16”-9/32”), a Wright 3/8” extension, and five Enderes screwdrivers $45.

It probably would have only been $25ish if I had not bought the 3 3/8” Grey Pneumatic socket. I will, probably, never need it… but I had to fill the peg on my socket rail…IMG_5707.jpeg

The warehouse sale was $2 a pound.

It, definitely, leaned towards machinist tools. Even though it was the fifth day, there was still a ton more.

There were Duro-Indestro sets, some of which still in the original cellophane. A good amount of the Duro-Indestro was metric. There was well over 100 blades for different power hacksaws. There was lots of WW2/Korea Plomb in Cosmoline.

If you are in the Detroit area, it is worth the trip.

Pencil holder. I use an old Snap-on 2-7/8" socket as one, works great!

As mentioned, Pen/pencil cup holder! I have a 2-5/8 Proto doing that service. One that big,m make an "X divider for it adn get organized! Pens; Pencils; Exacto's; Scribes and dental scrapers; or what have you...

Also great for strength training!

This too! I just gave my youngest daughter an 8 oz ball peen head for post surgery PT on the back of her hand. we will graduate her up as needed.

There was well over 100 blades for different power hacksaws.

These make great knife blanks, and I have one someone did that left the teeth on the back...

Update:

Key Hammer Exercises
  • Pronation and Supination: Sit with your forearm resting on a table, holding the hammer handle with the head pointing up. Slowly rotate your forearm so the palm faces down (pronation), then rotate so the palm faces up (supination). This Wrist Pronation and Supinationvideo by Physical Therapy First demonstrates the movement.
  • Radial Deviation: Hold the hammer with your arm hanging at your side. Slowly tilt your wrist upward (toward your thumb) while keeping the rest of your arm still.
  • Ulnar Deviation: Hold the hammer with the head pointing backward. Slowly tilt your wrist back (toward your pinky) to strengthen the opposite side of the wrist.
  • Hammer "Pancake" (Putty): Use your hand like a hammer to press a ball of Therapy Putty into a flat "pancake" to work the palm muscles.

I went to the Kitts sale today . I escaped with 13 pounds. I should have looked harder at the Plomb extensions. I think I've bought several at Kitts before. . For those that don't know Kitts is the original Detroit area surplus hardware store that is unique, eccentric, sloppy, but has tons, upon tons of stuff. The Indestro Metric socket sets, some of which remained in cellophane see @ecotec above. all had a different stamped socket (or two) somewhere on the rail. I'd venture a guess I could pull out 10 rails and have 10 different combinations of stampings. The second sale was clear across town and had the absolute most amount of nic-nacs, sculptures, castings, china, ornamental stuff I've ever seen in a 1000 sq ft house

I should have looked harder at the Plomb extensions. I think I've bought several at Kitts before.
I have so many of the Plomb and Snap-on extensions from Kitts that they don’t even turn my head anymore.

I kept buying them long after it was stupid to do so.

I only saw P&C and Plomb at the Warehouse sale. I saw the 5-6” ones and the 12ish” ones.

Want to sell one of those enderes drivers? :)

Using an 8 oz ball peen on the back of a hand

It's being used as a start point for lifting weight after MONTHS of bring limited to no more than 5 lbs; and her avoiding even that.

It would de line learning to walk again from scratch... Gott start somewhere

I have used that first bullet point using 12 and 16 oz BPs over the years as PT for elbow tendonitis. I've had cortisone shots in both elbows several times. the left is tweaking at me, so I'll be doing it again..

Sometimes you go to the sale, sometimes it comes to you. I had to run down to my storage unit to get a Van part for a paint match. The guy next door, who runs estate sales hereabouts, saw me and asked how much of the tool haul he'd just made I wanted to move to my unit. He's holding a sale starting tomorrow, so I get my pick of the goodies!

This was my grab:

I paid $50 for it. It's a nice box, but missing the front panel--of course.

Plus...

lots of goodies in the drawers.

I have a buddy who's been looking for a machinist's chest for a while now. I've offered him the chest for $40.

Here are some highlights of the tools:

First pair of Proto slop-joints I've seen.

Possibly the most worthless .22 shells made. You can probably kill a snake at about muzzle distance.

All those plastic capsules in one of the drawers?

One itty-bitty sheet metal screw per. Very efficient packaging.

A trifecta of speeder bars! Challenger 1/2, no-name 3/8, Crafty 1/4.

And a lot more.

Left-behinds:

I could never abide a boring bar.

End wrenches and sockets are probably 90% USA classics. I saw a lot of Proto, Plomb, Bonney... etc. I just don't need any more, especially SAE.

The green wrinkle paint says SK to me. 17" long, 4 1/2" wide.

If anyone wants any of that, let me know. I'll stop by on the way to work in the AM anyway.

Seller was sorting USA end wrenches and sockets into sets when I left.

The unmarked 3/8” drive speeder is likely prewar S-K or Brazil.IMG_5503.jpegIMG_3432.jpegIMG_7714.jpegIMG_1676.jpeg

I've been in hand therapy for 9 months now. Been watching the hammers l, mostly ball peins come, out which is quite funny. My daughter works in this clinic and actually brought in some claw hammers to have them pick up and swing and you get to seevthat you are doing much better post surgery then you realize.

The PT people are quite clever at integration of the every day into their work.
