No bites on the Craftsman box yet.
Dragged this "Kobalt" box out yesterday and gave it a bath and removed the wonky drawer and drawer slide:
Kobalt chest TRX412C 042826 03.jpg
Kobalt TRX412C 4-drawer top chest
Manufactured by J.B. Poindexter & Co. Inc., Houston, Texas
patent 6238031 May 29 2001 Kuo-Chan Weng of Taiwan for "Sliding Track Assembly for Drawers"
Apparently this design uses a ball bearing in the drawer slide mechanism.
I got it cleaned up as well as I was able to - a previous owner spilled paint all over it. Put a coat of Rustoleum on the bottom. Will probably get to re-installing the lower drawer this afternoon.

Well.. that was much easier than I had anticipated. The Kobalt box rails just "snap in". Overloading the drawer causes the rear clip to "snap out". Just a matter of popping it back into place, should you run into one of these boxes with wonky drawers. Easy peasy.

They had a decent service cart in that style back in the day.

No wonder you are having a difficult time of selling yours.

Oh no... I've sold both the 3-piece stack ($300) and the red one that I dropped on the patio and crunched ($50).
The Kobalt unit is getting no bites @ $99, but it's only been up for a few days now - no reason to panic quite yet.
Still have to dig out the Huot.
I'm thinking maybe of keeping the old Craftsman "Crowntop" unit because it's in pretty good shape, and flipping that "Waterloo" I picked up yesterday - or maybe the other way around - they're very similar - and the Craftsman will be an easier sell.
Or maybe just flip both of them - I need a new stove - I'm tired of fixing this one.
Still trying to inventory this mess of stuff I picked up yesterday.

Finally got this one finished earlier:
Craftsman 65262 6-drawer top chest 050726 01.jpg
Craftsman 65262 "Crowntop" 6-drawer Tool Top Box Chest Cabinet 05/07/26
Production date Nov. 1969
I set the price ridiculously high on both ebay and Craigslist quite deliberately - how far can we push this?
Let's find out.
If you don't ask you won't get.
That said it's a $100 box in these parts

Mike showed up and got the garage door fixed, but not before I already had most of the tool boxes pulled out of the pile out there.
There are still two or three more out there I need to get to.

Waterloo-manufactured Craftsman 3-drawer top box.
Picked up today at a church fund raiser sale for $30 bucks. Bottom drawer is wonky- overloaded by a previous owner. Easy fix.
I'll gussy it up and shoot for $75 or $80
The one I smashed when I dropped it on the patio a few weeks ago went in one day for $50.

The guy out in Graham is still trying to get $150 for a similar top and bottom box - a month later.
And there's an abused later CM top & bottom just listed in Bremerton for $100

I'm still not seeing any sort of "pattern" - what really makes me wonder was watching a woman carry a crappy old beat-up little carry box out of Earthwise yesterday - that she paid over $30 for. Go figure.

What are these going for? It appears in good shape, home owner grade.
@Miss the Pontiacs -
I just got the JL600 Waterloo listed yesterday on CL and ebay.
I got that Craftsman 4-drawer unit listed day before.
So.... that makes four three* "top chests" I've got on the block right now (including the Kobalt , plus all the little carry boxes.
Lots of lookie-loos and tire kickers, but nobody has shown me any dollars yet.
Will advise.
BK

* After completely disassembling all of these, cleaning them, and then putting them back to right, I've decided to keep the 1969 Craftsman 65262 - overall it's the best of the lot. The Waterloo is a heavier gauge steel and has more robust drawer rails, but it's got a lot of miles on it. I thought it was going to be the keeper, but all things considered, I'm going with that old Craftsman unit.)
*Haven't had time to get to the Huot top chest or the Snap-on roller yet. Finishing up the Snap-on side box right now.... hopefully before sundown. - BK

$250 to go fast. $500-ish if you can deal with lowballers and "is this still available?" Im unsure of the brand. But the size of the box alone im seeing everywhere for no less than $500. Just based off of the amount of drawers. Nice set up though. Shouldn't have trouble selling it. It may be worth more. In my area down south US. Im seeing these sizes for 500 to 600.
Clearly I need to load up a truck with total **** $40 boxes and sell them down south for $500-600.
