That contraption on the right is an indexing head. On the front you notice there is a plate with holes in it. Did Joel give you any additional plates with holes in it? That indexing head will turn that chuck on top to just about any amount of stops you can think of. Used for making slots, drilling holes, milling flats, etc in work pieces.

The contraption on the left is kinda like the indexing head only less precise and, of course, holding the work piece 90° from the indexing head in the horizontal. The gizmo next to the indexing head is a turn table.

Nice score, BTW!!! Which of course deserves a "YOU ****!"

Sounds like you had fun and a great time. 11 mpg in the box truck wasn't hateful either.
Ben and I got caught up on all kinds of things on the way out there and back and that was long overdue. I think we could have spent a week at Joel’s place hanging out and listening to his stories. It always seems like the most interesting people I meet are way too far away!

I was pleasantly surprised at the mileage of the truck as well. I was figuring 7 to 8 so 11 made me quite happy.

I'll let the others chime in on what is what as I know. No additional plates were available or included with the head.

I glad you found buc-ees bbq tasty!

I haven't heard mention so I am reluctant to ask. Did any of the buckeyes make it back home?

And if you or Ben had mentioned that seat I would have provided more to sit on at least a hunting cushion!

Enjoy!

I haven’t found any yet but I think what’s in there will serve my purposes. If not, I can make some if think.

We asked a few people in the store if there was bulk to go bbq and the answer was no each time. So no. Nothing made it past the IA boarder as it was all in sandwich form.

And if you or Ben had mentioned that seat I would have provided more to sit on at least a hunting cushion!

He wasn’t bothered until about half way home. When we were at his place getting ready to head your way his wife asked if he wanted another cushion and he said “nope”. I told him when we got back to his place that he needed to never grumble about a sore **** or he wouldn’t hear the end of it OR he needed to roll out of the truck, grab his **** and say “you were right dear, I should have grabbed the cushion”. I told him then and only then can you grumble about a sore **** !!

Yesterday I rolled up 18 beautiful bales of upland grass hay !!
IMG_6886.jpeg

I know round bales are round but look how nice and square that one is in all the right places !!
IMG_6887.jpeg

A buddy stopped over when we were unloading the bales and we chatted for a bit and one thing that came up was how dumb cattle were. Well lookie there. A dumb cattle. I had to cut the gate chain to get him out. He ran away and didn’t even thank me.

My Robo Rock picker bucket has been sitting in the shop since spring needing a crack repaired and it was time to do it so I could get it back out of the shop.
IMG_6894.jpeg

Goobered a piece on the crack, smacked it with a hammer and proclaimed “that ain’t going nowhere” so it’ll easily outlast me now.
IMG_6895.jpeg

In preparation for the placement of some new tools I emptied the shop out as much as I could and lined things up in a different shed. I swept the floor in there first and everything !!
IMG_6896.jpeg

Lathe and Bridgeport have been placed. Now I gotta wire them up and start to make some chips !! Things are a bit cramped and I think I need to add on to the shop :drink:
IMG_6903.jpeg

Somewhere in the middle of other things I fired up the first irrigator and send it around to put down some water.
IMG_6904.jpeg

Mama Bear asked me to trim a single branch that was bugging her while she mowed. That turnt into about 100 single branches being trimmed. We ran them through the fire pit and made enough smoke that two different neighbors called to ask if things were okay.
IMG_6910.jpeg

The new lawn is looking decent !!
IMG_6912.jpeg

We finished the day off by doing some grilling in a tornado warning. There was some nasty green stuff above us with some odd winds but nothing touched down that we saw or heard of.

That chain fire ring is just so cool! Looks like you had a busy weekend!
I purchased the fire ring last summer from a guy that works in the North Dakota oil fields. He says the chains are used in some pumping rig and get replaced long before they fail and he buys them at scrap price to build stuff with. He had a huge pile of it at his place when we went to pick the ring up !!

I don't sit still well so busy is good !!!

I laugh at your definition of "cramped" :lol_hitti
Cramped is pallet jack only access so it's getting cramped back there lol. The budget committee and I are in discussions about a 32-40'x60' addition on to the shop. Lower level would me machine shop/clean fab space as well as a pair of offices and a single garage stall. Upstairs would be open to the visions of the head of the budget committee to use as she sees fit. She rather liked that last part as it'd be around 1,800sq/ft for her to setup shop with whatever she wants.

Would you like a tour of my basement to see cramped! :scared:
I would !! I honestly like seeing how smaller spaces are used as you guys have a ton of great ideas for organization and whatnot. So yes please !!

That was my thought too. Cramped? You can see half of the floor in there that space is wide open lol. I have a 30x40 and had to move a bunch of stuff so that I could pull my wife's vehicle in to change tires.

Time to add on !!

I like to have enough space to move machines and parts with at least a pallet jack so what you see is cramped lol. Plus I gotta sell it to Mama Bear somehow !!

So @jblnut when is the new 50x100 shop addition going up? After all you have invoked the sacred GJ rules, which clearly state that you must take the size you need and at least double it before you build.
There are plans drawn up for a 60x160x20 with a concrete floor as well as a 36x60x18 shop addition. The 60x160 will be cold storage for now and then possibly transition to Avon Hills Ag space for seed and drone things once a heated addition is put on there.

Gotta go shake a money tree real hard soon or buy my banker some pastries.

Go fund me page??
I doubt that’d get much traction it may be worth a shot :lol_hitti

It’s great to have a to do or round to it list and yours is big but we are all pulling for you to make it happen.
Appreciate that Drives !! Thanks for stopping by !! Plans are cheap and making a lot of them costs nothing until you finalize them. There are a few upgrades for the farm that’ll happen before more sheds. A bunch of planter upgrades are in store as well as a drone trailer build. And some combine repairs that may get spendy, and a sprayer terrain following system that’s ordered and not delivered, paid for or installed yet as well as the usual expenses. It’ll work out but it usually takes longer than I’d like to afford it too as I don’t like borrowing money for things that won’t make me money. Like a shed unfortunately.

Your lawn sure came in quick. I’m guessing you know how to make stuff grow (hee hee).
Believe it or not I despise all things grass and lawn related. Mother Nature must have wanted it to grow. I watered it exactly zero times and it still came up awesome !!

Yesterday morning I mixed a load of feed in between rain showers.
IMG_6939.jpeg

At some point I decided to move some wood tubs around because it seems we’re always just one good cold spell away from winter starting. I say that as it’s been in the high 80’s with 145% humidity the last few weeks :lol_hitti

Bear with me as things are blurry. I tried putting my face closer to the screen and it got worse so it’s gonna be what it is. Before shot of the wood stove pad.
IMG_6943.png

Doing the skid loader dance and moving all of last years tubs into a place where they’ll be burnt first this coming winter.
IMG_6944.png

I gathered all the tubs from various corners of the property and stuck them on the stove pad. I have 38 tubs on there currently and plan to put 12 more to finish out the South rows and leave an open area for loose wood in between them like last year. I have another 50ish empties but won’t have a decent way to empty them by the stove if I pack the entire area full on the stove pad. It’s still a work in progress and I’ll figure out the best way one of these years !!
IMG_6945.png

Seeing as I have room for more totes I decided to setup the bucking table and load it with some girthy buggers.
IMG_6942.jpeg

Late afternoon I got interrupted by a truck that forgot was scheduled. It was time to send back all the seed corn we didn’t sell as well as all empty pallets and pro-boxes. He left plumb full with the corn returns and about half the packaging. We’ll easily fill another truck with packaging and have a little for another after that.

How is GH about seed returns? Some companies are getting pretty nasty on returns, only allowing so much and not after a certain date, etc.
We got dinged for a few reasons this year with the primary one being guys switching from corn to beans for some dumb reason. Our logistics gal also send an entire load here instead of to a customer of ours in SD (family friends from way back) so we had that to get rid of. It’ll work out though. We have to have corn returns scheduled early-mid June and beans sometime soon here.
