Little mini saw that I use a lot. WAS my dads, now mine, and I'M 71. Couldn't find blades the right size. Everything I found was too long by about a quarter inch so I mig welded in a section to use standard blades.

Picked this Eclipse no.55 saw today. Only bought it because how odd it was. Strange that it has a hacksaw blade on the bottom but is like the size of a coping saw. Also not sure the age of it

How did you get the handle so shiny.

How did you get the handle so shiny.

I lightly sanded the rust off with a red scotch brite pad.Then I use foam backed polishing pads. The pads are 2 inch by 2 inch squares and starts at 320 grit all the way up to 3500 grit. I start with 320 and cont up to 3500; after that I take it to a buffer wheel.

Filed off the casting lines that ran around the outside and inside perimeter of the handle. Sanded and a quick polish.

I found a Consolidated Tool Works No. 27 pistol grip hack saw with a composite grip. It was part of their Pilot line. It was in their 1923 "Miniature Catalog" that they published in Hardware Age and Hardware World.






(I need to do a little surgery to provide a more correct front blade holder - I'm working on that.)

I found a handle tensioned wood handle hacksaw from a company I hadn’t run across before. Consolidated Tool Works Inc. New York USA. From what little I could find on the Internet, they were around in the ‘20s.

Picked up this close quarters Craftsman hacksaw.
Did a quick little clean up on it this past week. Nothing too over the top on this one.

These key hole jab saws are becoming a little addictive.
They are cheap and they clean up and polish well.
Picked these 3 up over the weekend for restoration.

Millers Falls 525




Allway Handy Saw No.100 Aluminium handle.




Unbranded but looks like another Allway. The handle on this one is steel though.

Don't see any markings on it. But the handle is very heavy.
Unfortunately someone destroyed the blade on it. They cut it up to make it a key hole blade.
Not sure how old the handle is or why its heavy steel.
Some say it could've been a ice saw.
Either way I like it and for the price I had to grab it.

That’s an awesome hacksaw I like that very much, I do have a slightly more modern Snap on tight space one and also a load of eclipse hacksaw blade holders being from the uk I don’t find craftsman tool apart from the odd socket in mixed lots

This could be a docking saw handle.

Built for heavy use docking boats, you use the teeth to bite into the teak and pull it to the dock.



Actually built for docking heavy beams in mines, and other gross jobs where a wood handle may not last long.

Basic clean up on this one. Did a little blueing on the handle to give it some patina age look still.

This one I gave it my signature by smoothing out the foundry casting rib line on the outside of the handle. Then polishing it up.

Here is one I didn't find in a search of this thread. I picked up this cast iron framed Disston at a swap meet in central Oregon today. Maybe it was intended as a dehorning saw. Ed.

Correct, I believe the sway backs are dehorning saws also.
