Killed a dozen or so mosquitoes with my electric fly swatter.
The larger house mosquitoes put on quite a light show.

Just don't try it on Yellowjackets and Baldface hornets. It only pisses 'em off.

Picked up some supplies at the local Dollar Store to mount additional posters for the shop.

1. Large Mobil Gas Pegasus decal which I mounted on a white foam board then added four magnets to the back corners. It sits nicely between the metal garage door panels and stays put when the door is opened. Looks cool when the door is up also. Its a little plain so I'll be adding a frame outline and maybe some lettering too. This is the first of several signs I plan to attach to the garage door with magnets.

2. Large Vintage 1986 Castrol Oil Motorcycle Side Car racing poster mounted on a black foam board. Mounted to the right side wall. Tacked up with small nails each corner. Other posters to follow on this wall.

3. Small Motorcycle Vixen 'Hot Pursuit' poster mounted on whte foam board. I put this one over the big tool box next to the Champion Spark plug sign. Tacked up with small nails each corner.

4. Large Vintage Harley-Davidson poster (a favorite poster of my wife) mounted on white foam board and added four magnets to the back. This was hanging on the inside metal door for years with just loose magnets. I finally got around to mounting it on a board. Mounted inside the display room.

Also started installing the upper trim on the right wall after painting it red. Finished the day with a little more organizing of the shop/garage.

A decent bit of work on the table. Legs are about done. The new to me bandsaw made easy work of cutting the curves. Top and base are glued up til tomorrow, plane them again and cut to dimension. Admittedly a pretty sloppy glue up using the biscuit joiner. I'm not sure there were necessary, but I figured it would be stronger bond with them. I'm gonna stuff it through the planner, the knives are due to get swapped out anyway. Probably close to being wrapped up after tomorrow. Went much faster than expected.

Yup. I figured the worst it could do was die, and instead it jumped nice fat blue sparks that fried wasps. It was a HF unit.

not much time as i was hauling a sibling today to an appointment, but fiddled for a while with the nilights for the baja, something is being a bit to fussy. I took the breadboard, pins and dupont pieces apart a couple times. Will eventually figure it out!

Spent more time breaking down old cardboard boxes, thinking about what I can sell easily or if it is better to donate some stuff, just to get it out quickly. Rearranging packing materials for better access.

Deck project for my chore pickup reached limits of what I could do from the top side, so using my manual bridge in outer shop got my bestie out to help pick it and flip it over. It is 7' square but since I wanted to use up material that was laying around I am one full size and maybe 30% in weight over what it needs to be - so worried about limits. Brought my digital hook in from farm and it came in just over 300 Kg - pretty close to my design limit for that bridge. Safe for runways, but they also have storage rack loads I had to consider. All went very well and we had easily enough clearance under hook for the endover. Welded out the bottom and a bit reluctantly put an expanded metal screen (3/4 flattened) over back window space of headache rack. Ran out of gas and no way I can use Mamma's Q7 (BIG bottle) and my buddy gone to Celine Dion concert (where our youngest daughter is now) so will have to mooch a truck from someone else.

I use two bars to wind them up, so one is always braced against the door.

Put the rider back together. I cut the grass first though, before I put the hood on, because I'm a jinx believer.

So, backfire/stall under load can indeed be a valve issue, .004" for both. Runs like a top.

Finished the last switch plate hole yesterday (good thing I waited for actual parts) and did some final cleanup - Now watching paint dry -

Need to figure out the rough running on the van - may be bad gas w/water? I pulled into the drive and it evened out (fair slope there) but driving level, not so good.

More progress in the reconquista of the Back Forty:



Raining and drizzling on and off most all day, with occasional sunbreaks. I decided to see how the Stihl battery-electric trimmer does on wet grass--chest-high wet grass. That cleared area--two batteries worth--is about half of what I was able to do with two batteries the other day, when it was more or less dry. I finally found something that drains batteries faster than they can charge, so I'm done until both batts are recharged.

In most conditions, it takes as long to use up a batt as it does to charge one--give or take a beer. Not in this ****.

One thing I can say about the Stihl B-E trimmer--it kicks ***! With our old Stihl ICE trimmer, I'd have been stopping constantly to rip wads of tangled grass off the trimmer head. Never happened once with the electric!

I had a stack of 8 inch circular saw blades that had been flooded 27 years ago so got 6 out and blasted and primed them so my 20 yr old artistic granddaughter can paint some scenery on them for her hobby. We took the headboard of our bed to her a couple of months ago and she did a great job with it. Got to sponsor them in their interests. She has a new job so I did the blasting for her, but she could handle it because I started her early.

Try doing one in a trailer with the door down and the drop light burnt out.........14 turns on 13'6" trailer

I watched a buddy remove my old door and put in a new one with a drop of sweat till he had to adjust the spring, then it was running off his face like a faucet.lol

Regardless, they eventually break. I think I've had to replace two out of six and had to loosen and re-tension several when the cables jumped the rollers.

I keep two nice 1/2" X 18" rods just for this.

Glued/ Screwed some of the table together. Dry/ test fit some options on the base and top. Make a final decision after some internal debate, some of it has to do with the frame under the couch, which I knew would be an obstacle.
One cutting board is glued and clamped, two to go. I'll wait till all 3 are glued before they meet the planner and router to finish them up.
