I don't know if those gloves are fake, but I've ordered a bunch of stuff from dealextreme before without any trouble. It takes a bit to get your stuff, though. They just have a lot of good deals on cables, adapters, and cheap electronics. And with free shipping, it's a steal. I've never bought anything like gloves though. I don't know if they would be legit or not.

I have a pair of M-pact gloves coming and will let you know.

Pj if your looking for great deals on cables check out Monoprice.com its where I purchased all my cables for my Home Theater from. I couldn't find a better price for banana plugs anywhere. Sure did make hooking up the receiver easy.

Edit: All of my dealings with DealExtreme have been great. As mentioned shipping takes some time (2-3 weeks) I have purchased a lot of Cree Flashlights , Ipod ****, Rechargable batteries, ect and nothing so far has been a disappointment. In-fact I like some of the flashlight more than the Surefires that I have and for 1/100 of the cost.

Regnar, I do use monoprice for most "real" cables, but you can't beat dealextreme for ipod cables/chargers, simple usb cables / retractable ones, little microphones, etc. And like you mentioned, the cree flashlights are crazy good deals on some bright and well built lights. I basically retired some of my much more expensive surefire and other lights with them.

The Romisen RC-G2 is a great deal on a very bright light that runs on AA, and is built nicely. Nice to have a couple around the garage, and they are cheap enough to do just that. In fact, I would say it's a "hot deal" so it's relevant here, even though it's an everyday price and not a sale item. I'd be very surprised if there is a better light for the money. Heck, I have lights that I paid 5x more for that are not as good.

not sure if this is a great deal or just an OK deal, but I thought I'd share:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox?ref_=pe_36900_20001350

The Makita LXFD01CW 18-volt compact lithium-ion cordless 1/2-inch driver-drill for $150
Unfortunately, not a very good deal. I got my 2 pc set (with impact driver) for $200. And they now have the 3 pc (with impact and flashlight) for like $219 i think...

I am not a fan of LED worklights at all. They don't throw light like fluorescent and most of them are poorly constructed. I have one from Sears and the LEDs flicker.

Thanks, got one from Loses last night and hooked up a friend also. After tax and rebate I am in it for $75.40.
That's a great price, but are they good saws? Anyone know? That is, would you buy one at it's full price, compared to other models at a similar price, or is it only worth buying because it's so cheap?

I was going to get a few pairs since they were less than 1/2 retail price, but it just seemed too good to be true coming from a company that seems to sell a lot of cheap Chinese merchandise. I'm willing to bet they are fakes. I may be wrong, though...

I have bought cheap stuff from dealextreme from quality brands before and havn't recieved anything fake yet. In one instance the products seemed exactly the same as what you would buy locally, and in the other there was a fairly obvious spelling error in the packaging. I know for 100% it was the genuine product and was even made in USA, but had somehow ended up for sale in china due to its spelling mistake.

So I would say they are probably genuine, but you can be assured the only reason dealextreme has them is because some way or another they have been able to purchase a one off batch for cheap. Whether they are just excess stock, or whether they have failed some sort of quality standard/test and aren't fit for sale in the US you don't know until you buy them.

I have ordered probably $100+ of stuff from them over the years and none of it is real. They are knock offs but some of them are so good you would never know the difference. Take this multi tool for example.

Someone did a good write up comparing the dealextreme version with the actual one. It is very close but not the real deal.

When you say that none of it is real, are you comparing things that look and function similarly to brand name items (but are not marked or advertised as such), or are you saying they are selling items under or stamped with a particular brand name, but the item is not actually made by that brand name at all?

For example, that multitool you linked to does not claim to be any particular model from any particular manufacturer, so you can't call it "fake." They aren't trying to trick anyone by using a recognized brand name or model. Now if it was stamped Gerber, or advertised as made by Gerber, but in reality had nothing to do with them, well, that's not right. But without claiming any manufacturer or anything, I don't think it's "fake" or "not real". Knockoff? Sure, it's a knockoff of a popular product, but they are not faking it in the same way that people on the street selling fake Rolexes or Oakleys that actually say Rolex or Oakley are.

I think the mechanix gloves are in a different category than the multitool because they are actually using the brand name on the product. If the gloves said something else, maybe "mechanics" even, it would be a different scenario.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Anything that ships directly to you from overseas is a knockoff. Sellers like dealextreme, aliexpress and all the Hong Kong drop-shippers on ebay all play the same game as the street merchants in Chinatown. Everything is fake.

My order shipped...we'll see !

OTOH, Amazon had 12 pack of Nicolson file handles for $2. They summarily cancelled my order with no explanation and upped the price to 22$.

If you get status that says it shipped does that mean it's too late for them to cancel your order? What I mean is, can they cancel the order and halt shipping anytime during it's route?

Some is, some isn't, some I don't care.

A reliable middle man is maybe a good idea. 100% of the items I have had any issue with via ebay, have been quickly and completely refunded.

Most recent purchase, Sony 2032 lithium button cells for my cars remote, 5 pack shipped was about $2. Sony packaging, with Sony Made in Japan stamped on each cell.

One other fact I know for sure on, many USA distributors of products have HUGE mark ups. Porsche Cars North America now gets something like 45% for parts that do nothing but go through their warehouse.

Not sure what vendor you are talking about... but most vendors will not cancel a shipment, they will only tell you to refuse shipment when it arrives.

I tried cancelling an Amazon order that was just 'preparing for shipment' and i still couldnt cancel when I called...

Amazon has several of these screwups from outside sellers.

One was on heavy service bulbs ........ You order four packages of six and end up with four individual bulbs.

Another was on Autolite sparkplugs ... again you order a pack of ten and they send one.

I imagine it will be the same with these files. The good news is that when I called on both they refunded my full amount and told me to keep items.

Amen ...... the most recent example I've seen is on the new wiper blades similar to the Bosch Icons ( which sell for $15 to $20 each ) that are on Ebay in sets of two for about $20. If you look on the net for Chinese wholesalers ..... the blades are $1. each when you buy 1000.

Nicholson Rectangular Hand Mill File, Single Cut, American Pattern, ******* Cut, 8 inches, 12 pack, 7.62 + 3.89 s/h = $11.81

I bet 'ya it's too good to be true.

Check the shipping weight - you'll almost certainly get just one individual file.
