Precision makes good drills and Huot makes good indexes.

But hurry because I just bought two sets.

Quality makes it a bargain. The quantity can be had for $24 at Harbor Freight, and less elsewhere.

Linky to HF

$39.99 regular price, goes on sale for $29.99, then use 20% off coupon. I have this set myself already, but still bought the PT set.
you guys ****, I snoozed and missed the boat:pimpflash Hope they dont cancel your order:beer:

These are the nicest long nose, long reach pliers I've ever used. The have serrated jaws but the serrations are cut on the diagonal and revered on the opposite jaw. That means they grip at any angle. (unlike Knipex)

They're on closeout at Klein for $10. Get multiple sets to amortize the cost of shipping.

Nice find, like the extra length of the 8's and 5 delivered for $61 and change with a free haloween bag is almost impossible to say no to!

Re: HOT DEAL Index!! more precision twist drills - this time, 15pc cobalt

Precision Twist C15R10CO Cobalt Steel Jobber Drill Bit Set, Gold Oxide Finish, Round Shank, Spiral Flute, 135 Degree Point Angle, 15 piece, 1/16" through 1/2" by 32nds $45.61 ($225 normally) amazon prime available. only 7 remaining in stock as of this post.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002091TRM/?tag=atomicindus08-20

i don't pretend to know the difference in formulation (C15 vs C25), but this is a top shelf twist drill mfr, and working on busted stuff i find myself drilling out broken bolts regularly so cobalt-based drills are handy IMO.

This looks like a great price on an 18" Adjustable at $21.99 if you don't mind the black oxide finish:
https://www.kleinconnection.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product2_10001_10001_-1_17883_23351?
A Western Forge 18" at Harry Epstein's is $55 while a Harbor Freight 18"er is $17.99 right now. I have always heard good things about Klein adjustable but I have never used one myself.

Thanks for the heads up. All I need is another adjustable though :) I picked up ones from Harry's about 3 years ago: some Williams and a Wright. I've got Proto, and Crafty as well. I don't really use them at all come to think of it. I think one or two applications a year.

Are those Precision Twists USA made? Not knocking the deal, but I sometimes wonder on the amazon's practice of artificially inflating the "list price". I've got no idea if it's happening here, but people have pointed out the practice in the past. Whether it's done by amazon itself or whether instances of such are confined to amazon marketplace sellers, I don't know.

Another good deal is the Champion bit set that ultimategarage.com had a while ago.

They raised all of their prices and the 25% off code brings it back down to a more reasonable level..

You know, it's funny you mention that, because I've had a saved shopping cart with them for a while and when I was looking back over it I noticed the price didn't jive with what I had written down...and this was only a couple weeks ago. Most everything has been raised by about 5 - 10%, which like you said, after the discount doesn't amount to much. In fact, their pricing was extremely competitive with the Amazon sale pricing...and now, even after the 25% discount plus shipping...a lot of the items are still priced higher.

Meh...it looked good upon first seeing the deal...but now, not so much!

I suppose you could have them use their 115% price guarantee to lower the price down.. and then they would apply the 25% off but I don't know if that would fly. might be too much work to bother.

It does look like some of the Wera tools were bumped up in price. I checked the prices before posting about the Amazon Zyklop deal on my blog the other day, and the current prices are a bit higher, at least the ratchets.

+1 on the inflated prices. I just picked up a RA27 from ToolTopia for $34, chads was $53 after all the super "discounts". It really made me reconsider everything else as well

Hmmm.... I wonder what the price was before on the Wera 1734/6? I bought 6 sets for $14.75 shipped each from Chad's, which is $2 cheaper per set than Amazon.

Even if they did raise the price before the discount, I still paid the lowest price I could find for them.

What I've noticed is that the 'newer' styles of Wera tools have all gone up in price. The Kraftform Classic styles have all but remained the same.

And on a slightly Off Topic note: All the deep discounts Lowes had going on with their Knipex pliers is now no longer. I stopped by Lowes today to purchase the Bosch 12v max combo kit which is on sale for 129.** and decided to swing by the Knipex merchandise and all the prices have gone back up, waaay up compared to what they were before. Hell, some of the stuff is now even priced higher than NWS tools that you can purchase from Ash.

WOW! That is a HUGE jump in price. I think Sears is actually less expensive now and buying online would certainly be cheaper. Their lineman's pliers are now over $12 MORE than Klein's top end model at Home Depot. I think they are going to have a hard time getting people to shell out that kind of cash for a still relatively unknown brand to most shoppers at Lowes...

Yeah, tell me about it, their linesman pliers were something like 42.**. I guess the only good that can come out of this is that no one will buy Knipex at that price point...especially average joe who is looking for a cheap pair of pliers, which hopefully will leave Lowes no other choice but to drop the price significantly again.

Even $42 would not have been that outrageous, as Klein's are like $40 but $52? Ummm yeah... I don't think so.

That is exactly what is going to happen. I saw the price jump yesterday and thought the same thing. Give it 4 months or so.

Chad's actually mentioned the price increase on their Facebook page today. Maybe they were questioned about it? Here's what they wrote:

All WERA tool prices are going up around the internet MAP pricing is going into effect. Our 115% Price Protection Policy will always assure the lowest cost for those stores that are slow to comply with the manufacturer.

Must be regional? It has been and still is $32 at my Lowes (too lazy to screenshot):

KNIPEX 9-1/4" High Leverage, Side Cutting Linesman's Pliers
Rating 5 out of 5 stars (2 Reviews)

$32.47

and 10" cobra is $23.

That's not a bad price at all.. if indeed it is a regional thing, that's a huge difference.

I've had no luck with Chad's price matching. Earlier this year I purchased a Wera Koloss 1/2" ratchet with pin and extension. Amazon was $20 cheaper but Chad's wouldn't match it. Too bad for Chad's because I wanted a few other items as well. YMMV

Home depot is blowing out the smartlink pull behind lawn equiptment, rollers, aerators etc. 75% off most of it.

I got the wheeled base, core aerator and lawn roller for $107

Not sure if they used to be even cheaper, but the sales code that was posted brought down the price of the chiseldrivers to sub-Amazon levels. I ended up biting for some of those.

However, once you tack on shipping charges of $8.95 it actually comes out to being more expensive than Amazon's pricing w/free shipping.

Got these at Lowe's on a clearance rack in the paint department, of all places, for $4.18 each. The 9/16 was on a 5/8 card, I found it on a hook with about a dozen of the 5/8" ones. Got lucky with that. These were the only sizes they had reduced. But they had several of the flex-neck versions, at no price reduction.

The guy stocking the shelves in the tool section told me they always have the clearance sections scattered around the store. Keep an eye out for these little areas in your local Lowe's. I never looked anywhere other than the tool department before.

Those are probably leftovers that someone found on a high shelf or back room in one store. The rest of Lowe's cleared those out months ago.
