Local stores show pricing at $70. Unless I'm mistaken, that's what the reversible ratchet sets used to cost. In-store might be 50% x $70 = $35. That's if the discount is online and in-store and not online-only. Might be worth a quick call to the local store.

I don't know what web tool you are using, or if you are looking at the right items, but the Sears website shows them half off ($40) regardless of location. These are the reversible ratcheting wrenches.

With luck someone can use this. Eastwood is selling their 5" curved jaw locking pliers for $4.99 each, about half price.

No doubt these are Chinese COO, but I have a pair of their dimpling pliers and they're not bad for PRC. Eastwood seldom has great markdowns, and usually their shipping kills any bargain you might stumble across, but until Dec 31st they're doing free shipping.

The discount code for this is 1EM0806A

spend 4 more bucks and get the irwin 3 pack chinese vise grips on clearance at lowes

Google doesn't update their pricing in real time. Check the Sears website for current prices.

I used 'Google Shopping'. Some time ago they rolled out a "find local prices" feature, and so it's drawing a datafeed that shows local prices somehow. I don't know how accurate it is or not, but I recall seeing a reversible GW set for $70 locally a month or two ago.

I'm just thinking that the list price is $80 online and $70 in some stores. Wouldn't be the first time that the prices don't match up.

It is not possible for google to track every store in real time. They probably do it weekly. That and I don't know about your sears but when they do the GearWrench half off sales or other sales, they don't always have the prices changed in the store. It's just easier to buy online and pick up in store.

That said I think I am going to order the metric stubby set for $34.99 and the ratcheting 56pc screwdriver set for $17.49 since I missed them last time. Using the SEARS2011 $5 off $50 code $47.48 plus tax isn't bad.

I tried using Sears2011 but it didn't work. That's what made me remember that it was $35 after 50% off at one point. *shrug*

$17.50 for the ratcheting driver is a good price too, but make sure you really want it. I bought one when on sale a while ago and never really used it.

My 18" adjustable arrived today.
Looks good but its made in Japan.

I think this matte black finish worker is a very nice tool regardless of price or COO. It is noticeably lighter weight than early 80's SK 18" I compared it to, prominent recess in the handle equals less steel I assume, but feels very accurate/tight in adjustment. Didn't think to compare jaw width and depth. I'm curious to see how it resists gouging on the jaw faces. I wasn't expecting much at that price but if I had handled one before I would have ordered 4. Now they need to similarly discount the 24". Really like the Klein needle noses from the same sale but those were no surprise.

Thanks again GJ.

I guess the gearwrench sale doesnt include the passthru socket sets :(

It does include the two popular pass-thru sets, in store and online. I picked up another 49pc set (two ratchets and a nutdriver) for $25 today. They were clearly marked in store with red sale tags. If you're looking online, search for "vortex" in tools. The product pages for them are broken but the add-to-cart button works fine. The 2pc roto ratchet set and 56pc ratcheting screwdriver/nutdriver set are also among the sale items.

Not really a reason to rush the store tomorrow but Home Depot has their Husky T-Handle screwdrivers on closeout. Grabbed two just because

Anyone know the socket range for both 75 & 49 piece set?

I noticed some posting special deals on the reversible ratcheting Gear Wrench sets . . . how are these useful and in what situations? Wouldn't it be just as easy to turn the wrench over to "reverse" the wrench?

Just curious, :)

Backing out a bolt and getting "stuck" being able to reverse it lets you tighten it back up and get the wrench off. I'm almost ashamed to say I've done it and I ended up taking a bunch of other stuff apart that I shouldn't have needed to, granted it was my own fault but having a reversing wrench in that scenario would have been nice to have.

the GW reversibles sold at Sears also feature capstop so the wrench sits on the fastener instead of slipping through. Its highly usefull in certain situations, essentially acting like an ultra low profile socket.

Well, now you did it again.... She has a new saying "Google-Fu".

So I guess that means she saw that link...did you pick up the saw?

Here's one that came in a mailer from Advance Auto. $5 oil change kit. There's no mention of needing to buy an "oil change special" to get the $5 kit. I'm going to try picking up a kit or 2 today.

Some consider that a fault, but I agree with you that it can be helpful.

plus they have an offset
That's also why I like them also!

to me that is a blessing and a curse.
It is nice to not have to worry about the wrench falling too deep and off the bolt head or nut, but there have been a few times when I would have liked to approach the fastener with the wrench facing the other way.

Ok so mostly a blessing and sometimes a curse
But all in all I am happy with them.
I seem to go to them more and more.

That oil pan deal is almost too cheap to pass up.
I really don't need the pan, but guess it wouldn't hurt to have another one.
I would say for changing the oil on the motorcycle, but I usually use a plastic
"3 lb" container that Maxwell House coffee comes in, then I can put the lid on, and dispose of the oil right in the same container.

What did they hit you for shipping?
looks like the price is still good, I might get me one.
I don't mind the black finish on some tools, my $3.00 flea market find 12" crescent brand is like that.

Estimate of Shipping:$7.07, I put D314-8
8" Long-Nose Pliers - Long Reach, Rounded Nose The price is $10.88
and
73241
Retaining-Ring Pliers The price is $8.62

And shipping stayed the same.

X2. I prefer those because the boxed-end is 180* to the wrench handle, so it allows you to slip the wrench in tighter places. I don't care for the "reversible" style either.

I went today and picked up two of the oil change kits for $10.95 (9 1/2% TN sales tax).

Receipt showed: Your advertised savings today! $9.92

So, basically, the $5 oil change kit is 50% off all of the items in the kit.

Each item will ring up regular price until you get to the last item and the system will then recognize it as the oil change kit and mark each item down.

Would you please be able to post a pic of the glove deal for me? Thanks!

Here ya go. Ad says "While supplies last". My wife was amazed I didn't buy some. I guess that means I have permission to go back. :lol_hitti

I've got the 56 pc ratcheting screwdriver set in my cart with local pickup checked and in stock, ... but I'm dragging my feet and looks like my Craftsmans club is messed up.

I'd kind of like to have a look at first hand before buying, so waiting.

I'm glad you quoted dankicksass otherwise I would have missed this one. Thanks fellas.

After checking online to see if my (somewhat) local Sears had the set I went and picked it up. The set (which was mixed in with the ratchet and socket sets) was marked full price but rang up for $17.50. A crazy deal. I've had the standard and stubby driver handles for some time. They work great but I was limited with the one standard shaft.

The extensions alone generally cost about $15.00 or more. And I had no idea there was a flex shaft available. That will come in mighty handy at work.

It's a shame, the case is nice but the lack of carry handle makes it rather awkward and inconvenient.

These 18" wrenches are a beast. I needed a big wrench around the house for the occasional use and these fit the bill perfect. As cheap as the HF but better quality. I paid around $10 for shipping and I ordered the long nose pliers, 18"wrench, and a flashlight ( wish I would have gotten a different one though, I didnt notice it takes C batteries:sad:)

Here is a copy and paste from my order. The connection stuff is small and light and probably didn't raise shipping at all but I didn't verify this when I ordered.
