Backing out a bolt and getting "stuck" being able to reverse it lets you tighten it back up and get the wrench off. I'm almost ashamed to say I've done it and I ended up taking a bunch of other stuff apart that I shouldn't have needed to, granted it was my own fault but having a reversing wrench in that scenario would have been nice to have.

But if it would have been a flip over type instead of the reversable with the ridge to seat the head you could have just let it drop all the way down onto the thread of the bolt and used a regular wrench to turn the bolt back in until you could get the wratcheting off. Right?

Photos of the GW set for those that are interested.

wonder how long that flex adapter will last. I had one once a few years ago that broke after a couple uses. One of those great idea poor exectution tools.

to me that is a blessing and a curse.
It is nice to not have to worry about the wrench falling too deep and off the bolt head or nut, but there have been a few times when I would have liked to approach the fastener with the wrench facing the other way.

Ok so mostly a blessing and sometimes a curse
But all in all I am happy with them.
I seem to go to them more and more.

They're a good design in my opinion. Most automotive bolts have shoulders to them but in places where its just a 6pt and a long bolt its very handy not having to support the wrench so it doesnt keep dropping past the bolt head. I look at it like there are plenty of ratcheting wrench options out there, hardly any offer the cap stop feature so if you dont want it its very easy to avoid them.

Well, I certainly hope it lasts longer than that. If not, I'll replace it via the lifetime warranty (which surprisingly covers the whole set). Not something I want to be bothered with but will do if necessary.
It strikes me as a well made piece but...yes...one that has a finite amount of uses. Such is the nature of such a tool.

Slip the wrench past the head, but as you turn down the bolt as soon as the head engages on the first wrench you can't turn it down anymore and that may or may not be enough to get the wrench off the top.

I've got an oil pan with six or so bolts across the front under a ridge. When you F U and get a wrench stuck all the bolts have to almost come out so the front edge of the pan can drop down enough to get the bolts out and remove the wrench.

It's a shame, the(Gearwrench 56pc.) case is nice but the lack of carry handle makes it rather awkward and inconvenient.
I was thinking the same, but maybe a length of 550 cord through the zip tie holes would work fairly well?

Today was a good day, picked up two of the oil kits and gearwrench 56pc. Sets. This thread will be the end of my bank account

This was a great deal; Sears in San Jose had a lot of about 30 Gladiator Gear Wall panel on clearance for $69.99. I tracked this item every month until it got down to $25.96, and then bought 7 packages. I also had $20 in Sears Shop My Way rewards points from getting an oil change at Sears.

My parents live in the Bay Area, so it wasnt a hassle driving 30 miles to get the gear wall. I wish I bought 2-3 more boxes. All I have to do is transport it back to our house (Sacramento) for installation.

If you read reviews on Amazon, this is a 5 star product. However the one thing people complain about is the price.

7 packages of Gear Wall = $700 retail.
Sears Clearance Price: $25.67 x 7 = $170 (with tax and $20 off from Sears Points).

76% off retail prices!! Winning!!!!

You're right and that's about what I'll do. Just seemed so odd to make something like that and skimp on the handle. Probably cuts down more on shipping (size) costs than mfg. costs. And yes, this thread will cost you...but in a good way.

it depends on the bolt. I did this on a bolt that you could not slide the wrench down on. It sucked.

I can confirm China. picked mine up yesterday

IBJanky: how do you like the stool? Trying to convince myself i dont need it . . .

I bought the stool for $45 a earlier this year and it is made in China.

The frame and seat/seatback itself are pretty good quality, but the hydraulic lift that connects them is meh. Doesnt seem extremely solid, has a little wobble to it. But for $40, it's still a good deal.

I actually like it very much. I am 6' 180lbs, and it supports me just fine. The back rest height is adjustable, and the seat height itself is adjustable also (hydraulically).

I bought this same exact stool 3 weeks ago for $80, I wish I could have gotten it at this price. I tried calling Sears for a price difference match, but they said that the window was for only 14 days, so they couldn't do it for me

Buy another one at $40 and return it using your original receipt?

My local Lowes had on clearance the Dewalt DCD760KL 18-Volt 1/2" Compact "Lithium Ion" Cordless Drill with 2 batteries, charger, and case for $79. Regular price was $220. Looks like they just marked them down today from $199 to $79.

Shows as $79 for me, but two questions...does it include the second battery? The web site is silent to this...

And the reviews are terrible on the Link you provided. I thought the 18v li-ion were well respected, but now i think that might just be the XRP. I have a 14.4 XRP for 6 or 7 years that has been awesome.
