COO = country of origin?

Correct.

why do you prefer the gearwrench over the cman?

I think that they're better wrenches than the new "Full Polish" wrenches, and are a better design, without those god-awful bloated open ends.

re: the cman..what would be considered a 'good deal' on those?

On the Full Polish ones? About what they're running now seems to be the "deal" price. Might get cheaper near Christmas.

I've never heard of "Triangle" Tools, are they made in the US? Are you guys buying them because of the price drop or because you know something about them? Just curious. :)

Thanks,
Steve

Saw this at Lowes yesterday:

YMMV as the Lowes clearance prices differ from store to store.

No, they are made in Taiwan, not US.
I didn't buy it though, the warranty could be a problem.

I bought it in store at a kiosk with free shipping. At ~30 bux for the set I'm not even going to worry about the warranty.

Triangle Tools Review via TG

They're made in Taiwan, and actually very well designed and manufactured.

I believe that the fact that you've never heard of them is part of why they're being clearanced from Sears. Sears was their only USA distributor and barely marketed them. People won't buy brands they don't see actively marketed or advertised.

I haven't seen one of those in a while. Clearance might be YMMV since most stores may have clearanced them away a while ago.

Where can you fill up those compressed air cartridges? Paintball shops?

Yep, from what I've seen they are the same as the paintball cylinders. Wal-Mart used to do a tank exchange program for these. Not sure if they still do but it was less than $10 from what I remember.

Tried my local Advance. Online showed one in stock. The sales lady said no, and the sku went to a discontinued bearing. I didn't need it anyway, but what a deal.

Called one of the Advanced Autos and they didn't have any in-stock, but did show that it was priced at 26.99. Called the second Advanced Auto and they had one in stock, but gave me some run-around that it was still 249.99 b/c some SKU number change, blah blah blah.

I asked to speak to a manager regarding the issue and got the same run-around. Oh well.

Called two AA near me for the hoist. Had them check the SKU. Both rang up discontinued and they claimed they did not have any in stock, even though the website said they had them in stock. The one guy said something was wrong with the system or warehouse or something, showing in stock online when they really weren't. Didn't seem like they were pulling a fast one or anything, they both punched the SKU in, and reported back straight away that it was discontinued and when I pushed to see if they might have one, they both said they did not. Oh well. Killer deal.

Taken from SD:

Torin 2-ton engine hoist at Advance Auto Parts

Reg $229

Discontinued sale price $26.95 (YMMV)

Have the store look-up SKU 9040044

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/we...ne-Hoist-Torin_4579652-P_N3396_T|GRP2042_____

Every store in my area has the lifts. I almost got one too, until some douche wandered by and screwed the pooch for me.

My advice for anyone looking is to check stock online and show up in person and find the guy that looks like the biggest *****

The website said that my local store has one so I just drove up there and their computer shows none in stock. In fact he looked and they haven't had one for nearly two years. When he entered the SKU number it said discontinued but it had the $26.95 price. Would have been nice to have gotten one. If there was one anywhere around the Cincinnati area I would go get me one.

The problem is the sku number listed is correct BUT the link the OP posted is does not match the sku. What he linked to is the newer / replacement for the discontinued sku. All of the stores in my area have the item he linked too for $250 and none of them have the sku number that was posted.

I agree. My stores have the new one but nut the discontinued one.

EDIT: That explains the web site saying they have it.

Thanks to the OP w/ the heads up on the engine hoist. Picked up the last one at the store by me yesterday. Employees about fell over, but honored the price. One note, entering the part number gave the expected price, but scanning the barcode showed the full price (250) and had two part numbers listed. Make sure they manually enter the part number on the box.

What is SD? Where did this info come from? trying to get the right info because I think I found one and I need it to honor price.

EDIT: The guy in Norwood said they had a T32001 but that was $249 and not discontinued. SKU # 9040044 was discontinued and no one in the company had or could get one. :(
