When are you getting those new Epiqs? Will need pics of those for sure
What an incredibly generous offer. Good luck to everyone that enters.
Maybe a sticky won't be necessary... as i have a feeling this thread will remain at the top!
Sean,
Amazing first post!
Let me first say THANK YOU for protecting my family, and OUR country. You're a brave soul to go over the pond to the sand castle. It's stories like this that made me wish it was easy for EVERYONE to acquire tools.
What does your current tool set at home consist of? Just the very basics? Is there any way you could list some specifics?
Sorry for the GIANT pictures, I'm a bit of a noob at photobucket
Here are a few pics of what I'm currently working with...
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2479.jpg?t=1320562078[/MG] My Wally World work bench. I just took it down today to get ready for the move
[IMG]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2482.jpg?t=1320562172[/IG] My SK Impact set, it's not all there but it gets most of the job done.
[IMG]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2492.jpg[/IG]The Milk Crate that houses all my blow mold cases...as well as whatever I can fit in there.
[IMG]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2491.jpg[/MG]Milwaukee tool bag that I "try" to keep the rest of the smaller hand tools in.
[IG]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2490.jpgAn old soket case that I use to put all my Snappy stuff in. Assorted wrenches, screwdrivers and sockets. Metric and Standard.
[IM]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2489.jpg[/IMG]Proto 1/4" drive set
[IM]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2485.jpg[/IMG]My Blackhawk ratchet wrenches. It's a shame its only a standard set...
[IM]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2481.jpg[/IMG]Probably the nicest "tool" I own. All terrain creeper.
[IM]http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee506/SeanConklin/DSCN2497.jpg[/IMG]A picture of me in my garage. In the midst of moving there is no time for organization. My wife can't even find tools when she needs them, though they only usually consist of a hammer and/or screwdriver
By no means do I have all I need but I am getting there. I plan on filling the blanks in with HF tools until I can afford nicer ones.
Hahaha, I tried to re-size them but evidently doing the exact same thing to several pictures reveals different results... Who knewNo need to be sorry, big pictures are a 'must' on GJ.
Sean, What are some of the things on your ABSOLUTE need list?

This contest is for people in the US only. Sorry for everyone else, but the shipping charges would be insane.
First off, this is an absolutely amazing offer. Thanks for the chance.
I don't know where to start, but here's a bit of a back story. In 2008, while my wife was deployed to Afghanistan (we met while we were both in the military) I suffered a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). That story is here: http://www.dirtragmag.com/webrag/life-traumatic-brain-injury
As a result of my TBI and stress of my wife being deployed, I started spending the majority of my time in the garage to keep my brain busy. I figure if I'm busy working on something I don't have idle time to think about what's going on and stress out. It works, too.
During her last deployment I built a custom cruiser (bicycle) for my wife to ride when she got back, built a cruiser for/with my daughter, and got back into college to attempt to finish my EE degree. Basically, I'm doing the Mr. Mom thing.
To stay busy I've worked on several projects for others for free. I refinished a bike frame for one of the guys at the bike shop, made a dartboard cabinet for my neighbor, refinished a bedroom set for my mom (that will be delivered to her this week when I go to install crown moulding in her new-to-her house), and lots of other stuff. Heck, Wife and I were in town one day and saw a fellow Jeep owner broke down on the road a mile or so from the house. I towed him to my place, broke out the tools, and stayed up until we had his ride fixed (drove to his house, got his new injectors, swapped them, still has issues, traced it down to an electrical plug on the transmission - long night). Luckily I have a very understanding wife.
But she knows that the garage is useful for her, too. We recently refinished an old china cabinet for her and made a shadow box for one of her soldiers that's leaving. He owns a Triumph Speed Twin so she picked up a MiniChamps model and had me make the shadow box for it. She also volunteered me to do bike repairs for her soldiers. They will ride once in a while for PT and when their bikes (or their kids' bikes) needs work, I do it for them at no cost.
The memory issues I'm having from the TBI have forced me to organize my tools so that I can keep better track of them. As a result, my 41" Craftsman is now full and I've been searching for another cabinet. I'm currently debating the 56" HF cabinet to go along with the 41" Craftsman but a Snap-On would be infinitely better.
It's gotten to the point that my "overflow" tools have taken over the kids' cabinet I got for them. They work in the garage too so the wife and I got'm a discounted Stanley roller.
Anyway, I can't say I'm "the most deserving member" or have "the most deserving garage" but I figured I'd take the chance. One of those "nothing to lose" situations, I guess. I'm at a spot where I could use a nice cabinet and, as cool as "winning" a Snap-On would be, I'm also capable of buying a lesser cabinet for home use. If I somehow won a cabinet, I'd have no preference and take leftovers.![]()
If I recall, aren't you a fairly avid car/home audio guy as well?

Find out who he is, have him post his stories in the thread?
