Grainger is just set up for businesses. I don't even think they knowingly sell to individuals. Not a great excuse I guess, but we should all take away a lesson that if you're an individual, the Grainger deals that pop up from time to time are quite the long shot.
Their business model seems to be more for businesses getting the tools they *need* to get the job done, and having that tool (or a similar one) ready and available so that the business can get that job done ASAP, even if it costs a bit more for a replacement, it's availble *now*. They don't appear to cater to individuals who just want a very specific tool/item at the exact advertised price and not a penny more.
I have a tax id and am registered as a business.
I do agree with everything else you posted. They want to deal with people that don't mind the price but just want the item in stock.
