Grainger is just set up for businesses. I don't even think they knowingly sell to individuals. Not a great excuse I guess, but we should all take away a lesson that if you're an individual, the Grainger deals that pop up from time to time are quite the long shot.

Their business model seems to be more for businesses getting the tools they *need* to get the job done, and having that tool (or a similar one) ready and available so that the business can get that job done ASAP, even if it costs a bit more for a replacement, it's availble *now*. They don't appear to cater to individuals who just want a very specific tool/item at the exact advertised price and not a penny more.

I have a tax id and am registered as a business.
I do agree with everything else you posted. They want to deal with people that don't mind the price but just want the item in stock.

I received my order of the Lindstrom RX cutters the other day. Like the others, they're either brand new or used once for a class. The cutting edges looked perfect to me. For $12 shipped it's an amazing deal. The seller still has "more than 10 avail," so this is still going on.

I'm having a hard time not buying more even though I don't have a use for them right now.

There's definitely something going on with this Grainger SK deal. When I go to the website and type in the item numbers 12D277 and 12D278, I get the super-cheap closeout price.

BUT, when I log into my account and search, I get ridiculously high prices. I was one of the people who got the email yesterday saying my order was expected to ship on the 14th. I just called and canceled my order so I wouldn't have to argue with them if they decided to charge me the much higher price. Plus, these prices don't make sense, the regular 1/2" drive ratchet is more expensive than the long flex head.

Oh well, better luck next time.

When I received the email from them with my order info and delivery date, I checked the part numbers listed in the email on their website to make sure they didnt auto upgrade me to the $80 ratchets other peeps mentioned and not inform me of the change, and the part numbers still reference the close out prices of $16.99. I'm still not holding my breath that i will actually get them. I dont see why it would make a difference for an individual or bizz purchasing from them and their customer service issues, sending an email notification is sending an email reguardless of whom your sending it too. If I was a bizz owner and got this kind of runaround that would be my last transaction with them.

As I said, when I just went to the website and searched, the cheap price came up. But, when I logged into my account, then searched, the high prices came up. The screen shots I attached were taken after I had logged in.

Log into your account then perform a search and see what you get.

for 60 bucks they better be hardened enough to cut through superman. Also the spring in a ratchet is tiny.

Price doesn't matter, its how the edge is made. However, I was wrong... those are rated for steel. Most of the electronics flush cutters/etc. are not and you will regret it immediately after your first cut :)

I picked these up after scouring the store, I found one pack that had been left randomly in the store. :)

The flashlights in my house are happy. I ordered 2 packs online. When I walked in the store there were two displays full of them.

Lindstrom RX 8150 flush cutters. Seems to have a ton of them. Accepted my offer of $12 (shipped!). This is a smoking hot deal. If you don't need them, they're top of the line if your wife/gf is into jewelry or beading.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/220886813920

I was denied @ $12 on three pairs, DOH!

Guess I'll stick with the excelite 170's I buy in boxes of 12 for $55

What are those lindstrom cutters used for? If I don't do any jewlery work, could I still find a use for them? I'm trying to think of anything delicate I'd cut?

Doh!

Maybe that's what I get for walking in through the Exit instead.
Knowing my luck, they had all the displays right by the entrance as well.

I just did, no orders pending approval, no status, no history for 2 years. This was my first order from them.

Ah, so it would be appropriate for all that? I do have a small pair that I use for just that, I just thought these were more "precision" instead of "general purpose" and needed to be babied. Maybe I could upgrade my current pair then, in that case.

Seller (instantly) declined $12, $12.50, and $12.75. Was trying to find the bottom line for you guys, but looks like it is in fact $13. Anyway, if you get 3 wrong you need to buy it at full buy it now price of $15, which I did. Only a few bucks more, but looks like everyone might as well go for $13.

Seller took 13 for me after turning down 12 FYI.

Thanks for the info, I see he has a ton of diff nips listed. I sent him a message asking for 3 @ $12, they're better than my excelite 170m's but twice the price, not sure if they'd be twice as nice!

On a lighter note the Rigid 5pc 18V kit that was regularly $499 is now on secret clearance at home depot for $125

Wiha hammer cancellation heads up.

The small percission hammer from my recent holiday web special order just got canceled. I received the following email:

I emailed back and was told it will not be shipped later. The rest of my order will still ship so good luck to everyone who ordered these.

MOJoWales

I ordered it, and have been invoiced.
I wonder when the cuttoff was?

Haha, so I figured i'd just order another SK flex since I ordered on 11/20 and only got one of the two and others getting them. It shows 14.69 for me all through checkout till the final submit, then jumps to 76.

Guess I'll see if the other shows up at some point.

Me too. Somehow I can't get it to work.

With these Hot Deals, and especially Grainger, you have to remember:

As others have mentioned, it seems Grainger will deal with you if you are a business but really has no interest dealing with individuals. Does not seem like great PR since some individuals may be making business purchasing decisions for a business but .......... especially since this is not stated on their website.

Good news is that there are plenty of other tool deals and businesses out there that are happy to take my money and provide the service I expect along with them after Grainger has a line drawn through it on my mental list ;)

Grainger doesn't like doing business with ''the little people'' lol, they probably give the deal to people with tax #'s before they would give them to a retail buyer.

Gents,
I just ordered a DEWALT DW059B 1/2 in. 18 Volt Cordless Impact Wrench. Did not need the batteries or Charger so bare tool was a good option. Anyway upon checkout I got a 25.00 promotion of some sort. Heck, I thought the original price was a good deal!! Anyway, I did not sign up for anything extra it just showed up in the cart on checkout. Seems to to be a really good deal. Give it a shot and good luck!!

Looks like it is a over 100.00 dollar purchase promotion offered by Amazon click the "Special Offers Available" on the product page..

I was able to at least place an order on the phone with Grainger 20 mins ago for the non-flex SK ratchet as she explained there were still a few left in one of their warehouses.

Received my extra heavy duty wiha striker cap screw drivers. They are some of the nicest and heaviest drivers I felt. These are the all black ones. Free t10 and t15 t handle drivers were also included. Could be used as a weapon also.
