[***, after reviewing your order details, I see that item "3 Piece Premium Grade Ratchet Set" was cancelled due to the item being out of stock (you chose a very popular item). While our inventory is updated periodically, it is not in a real-time inventory environment. As our website serves customers throughout the entire country, it is typical that several customers will have the same item in their cart. Inventory is again verified after the order is submitted. It can happen that more orders are submitted than we can complete.]

Looks like problems ahead, I actually got an order confirmation y/day and no cancellation notice yet-on checking only 1 item out of 4 is actually currently being processed-despite the friendly online robot telling me my details don't match--read-order stuffed up.
the item is still showing here-no go into cart now though

have contacted international customer support with my details and included the real funny transcript too--this will be interesting

Update-just received email from customer support--they say order will ship from warehouse to hub in two business days--did I get lucky?--we'll see I guess

Lowes still has the Dewalt 3 piece 12volt combo kit for $199.99. What they don't mention is that the free battery offer they have had for the last 2 months is still going. Using a 10% coupon I walked out paying $179 + tax the 3 piece kit and extra battery. I believe the free battery promo is good until 12/31. YMMV (I bought mine in Marlboro, NJ)

They are not made in Taiwan. They are made in the Czech republic.

Are the bits and sockets as well... I saw pictures on Amazon or here that the bits were from Taiwan. Still prefer it to be either USA, JPN, or GER or other major countries of quality. I don't know much about the Czech republic, except for my pfaff sewing machine and it's okay...the German made ones were better.

Thanks for letting me know...

Hand tools made in the Czech Republic will be of good quality. They have a long history of quality manufacturing. Firearms, for example, produced there are among the best in the world. There is a reason hitler wanted the country during ww2-they had manufacturing down.

Actually it does not even say, it says next one is on Dec 26th 2012, which is next year and not a Monday. Guess they could not even get the date right, let alone the deals...

This probably doesn't qualify as a "Hot Deal" (hey, it's Fluke), but here goes anyway...

Buy 2 Fluke meters totalling $250 or more get $50 back, and $500 or more and get $100 back. Exp Dec 31st and get the rebate postmarked by Jan 7! There are some minor exclusions, so read the fine print. Generally DMM's and clamp meters are all included.

I'm surprised people who bought this didnt' just pricematch with chad tool box website for the 15% difference discount... though I don't believe their 115% policy... since the fine print states 15% of the price difference and not 115% difference of the lowest price... to me that would be 85% of the lowest price.

I ended up doing this. It came to like 205 shipped! That is a deal and a half.

I went to my local store this morning and placed an order at their kiosk.... paid and went home to also find a cancellation order.

The frustrating thing is there are TONS of people that actually want to buy things from Sears but over the years both their website and the product knowledge of the people that work at their stores just keep driving people away from Sears by the hundreds.

Sad thing is, I really would like to see the store make it, or at least Craftsman Made in the USA make it but the way they handle their business - the only place they are going is out of business.

It took hours before it showed as unavailable on the website. The reason is their inventory system *****. A company the size of Sears, and their inventory system *****. Now, given their inventory system *****, it is worth noting that the individual pieces sold separately are still all available - so putting 3 individual pieces together and fulfilling the order because their website ***** apparently is not an option. If you don't have a real-time inventory system (and it is laugh-out-loud funny that an outfit the size of Sears does not) that is the least you can do .. fulfill the orders that were placed w/o it being marked as being out of stock. Idiots.

Here is their email:

Thank you for contacting Sears.com regarding the order #xxxxxxxxx. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

I am sorry to hear that your order "3 Piece Premium Grade Ratchet Set" has been cancelled. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

Yea, that's the same canned response I got from them. I paid off the card, it's getting cancelled as well as my rewards program.

And I "wonder"does this tie in with the 100 -120 stores closing due to less sales than last year?

Personally, I can't complain much, Live in the right area, or something?
All the things that I did try to order went through with none of the problems a lot of others have had.
Shipped and Pick up in store.
I can understand there frustration though.

Maybe if they would stop this .

They called me about a week ago to tell me my order was ready, I have been placing so many orders I didn't know what I ordered but hadn't yet picked up. When I got there, it was a previous GearWrench order I had already picked up.

The store is 45 minutes away, one way, plus fuel and my time... I should have picked it up instead of being honest!

This likely falls into the category of beating a dead horse, burying it and them exhuming it for a few more kicks, but I've made a thread regarding the SK-Grainger deal from a month ago, and how you can uncancel your order if you never got the ratchets you requested. Not sure how many of you fall into this category, but in case you missed them here you go:

The zyklop sockets are taiwan, not sure about the ratchets themselves but it is a safe bet they are Taiwan as well.

Wow.. I thought all wera was made in Czech republic but you are correct. I emailed chads and they confirmed the sockets were made in taiwan.

That is unfortunate.

So I was right... okay... guess I will pass on this set...it's a great deal from Amazon for the Wera set, but I already have a socket set from Koken and SK... I'm interested in the locking extensions so wondering if I should get wera or go for nice set from SK etc... or get some Armstrong Impact locking extension sets. I figured if I get an Impact set...I can use it for the impact gun as well as regular ratchets.

Damn wera...love their design, but they are charging a premium for quality Taiwan... but still not JPN, USA, or EU made products... should be normal price $215 for the set and compete with Gearwrench...but think that's dreaming.

Dieselmike ... Wera started making a few made in Taiwan parts now... I see a lot of Metabo bits that looks like Wera and I know those are made in Taiwan. I don't mind made in Taiwan, but don't want to pay for made in Germany prices...that bothers me.

It is, but the CR is used by a lot of German companies for making parts and tools.

These days you really do not know, same with Wiha, some tools are made in Germany some are not.

Little off topic but I wanted new cordless tools and I wanted Dewalt since they make their stuff in Mexico, which is as close as you can get to made in the US.
But while their XPR line is still made there the new 20V is made in China.

Just thought I'de add this--
BGS Germany despite all it's German language packaging, imports 90% of it's tools from Taiwan (check it's catalogue), I would BEWARE of all their matte wrenches in the Tektron roll's--they are made in India by HR--they come complete with peeling chrome over rough casting--BGS's packaging is very deceptive imhoo

Irwin 81pc drill bit screwdriver bit set - $15 via Amazon.

Must have been a Lowes holiday special that was liquidated, or similar.

I saw that set at Lowes LAST Christmas season (2010). I think it was slashed to $7 when I picked it up. My thought was spare bits in the truck. The drill bits are kind of "icky" on top but I am super picky about drills. They look a lot like the low-end Bosch bits in color (flat black but seems painted not a metal finish).

The paddle wood bits on hex shafts I have used and I liked them. Nice to change bits on a ladder installing cables through framing members.

That compressor is nice but won't it be cheaper soon?!

It actually comes up 475$ today so even better. That puts it within 25$ of the Lowes Kobalt equivalent which is on sale for 450$ right now. Curious if the Craftsman is any better or worse regardless of the "regular" price different of >200$.

I'd really like the IR version at TSC but it is >150$ than the Kobalt...

That Craftsman compressor has pretty crappy reviews....I have the Kobalt and have had no trouble out of it other than a stuck gauge, which they promptly replaced under the 3 year warranty.

Wish they had one of those in a Horizontal model - I am about ready for a new compressor but don't have room for an upright, it has to go under my work bench.
