Grrr. I went to Sears on Sunday (Minneapolis area) and nothing was on sale - nothing marked, and nothing at the register.

Yeah it was a pain because none of the sockets were marked and they were all still in the regular places. There may have very well been more on clearance but there were no self check price scanners so I had to keep asking the sales ladies to check prices for me, good thing there was no one there. The flare nut wrenches were in the clearance section.

On a side note, my Sears had both a red/black and gray/black 3-plastic-drawer socket set on clearance. The red one was $195, the gray was $175, both normally $299, not sure if either of these are a good deal, they were both returned items. Not sure what is the difference between the sets either.

Not sure if it was just my sears but they had Insulated Pratt and Read screwdrivers on clearance for 12.97 from 30 some odd dollars. I also picked up some gearwrench ratcheting wrench socket adapters for 6.97. Some good deals going on there.

Actually, a search of "Sears" and "Sears deal" provided nothing applying to this deal in the first three pages of results (each). Now the new thread is getting used so all of the $.97 socket talk is out of the Hot Deal index. You're welcome. All that is bringing the HDi back up now is people complaining about a duplicate thread...

Went to Sears again, picked up a few sizes I needed and headed to the price checker. All regular prices. Socket aisle was fully stocked so maybe my Sears is a little slow.

I would assume that the people who care, are those who have already heard about the Sears socket deal several hundred times, and have to wade through posts about it to find any information on other deals that they may not have heard of.

That said, I usually don't mind some friendly discussion and "sharing", but there is a point where it gets a bit over the top... about the fifth or sixth continuous page for me.

Understandable, but clearly many people still have yet to know about it as people continuously give thanks for the heads up at Sears. Just because someone saw the deal doesn't mean everyone has. I knew about the Sears deal when it first was posted but it's not hard scrolling down and skimming through it.

Saw mention in this thread of the 4' ladder at HD for ~$34 but not this: HD claims to have lowered their everyday price on the 6' fiberglass Werner Type II's (225 lbs) to $39 from $58.

I picked one up today. If you just need a basic general purpose ladder seems like a great deal to me. The "lighter" duty rating also means the ladder itself is lighter to manuever around, which is always nice.

Good for you, I ordered a couple sets back in Feb and they were not USA stamped. I guess that means they are made elsewhere? They seem like good ratchets anyways, but I was really hoping to get USA made ones.

What are those wrenches with the padded middles? I am intrigued... I hate using my Cman raised panel wrenches because they tear the hell out of my hands. (Clearly, because i'm a little girl. )

Heh, there's actually some really nice Husky gloves at HD right now for $10.

My only problem is that i dislike the lack of "feel" with mechanics gloves.

I suppose fingerless might be the ticket, though.

I've been using mine (not USA) for several months now and like them a lot, they seem to be of good quality. I find them much more ergonomic to use than the CM 'Premium ratchets' by a long margin. I find the handle on the premiums to be clunky and not a natural fit for the hand. This kind of thing is probably not a big deal if you only use ratchets every once in awhile, but for those who use ratchets on a frequent basis, how the tool fits in the hand can be important. In fact the fit of the premiums is so poor that my old raised panel CM ratchets have them beat in that department.

These thin profiles have become my go-to ratchets. I'll be giving the premiums to my son as I just don't use them anymore.

They are the cheap taiwan craftsman trugrip wrenches but they are heavy and fit bolts fine for 50$ for metric/sae 9 pieces each they work, but i use my USA craftsmans for high torque stuff.

I like the feel of the thin profile ratchets, but the 3/8" is SO heavy compared to what I'm used to using. Guess everything thinks heavy means heavy duty, but my arm gets tired after 8 hours of wrenching when I have to hold a heavy ratchet like that
