Whew! I'm glad I missed this one. My problem has been the other way around, where a guy bought some sockets from my website using PayPal. PayPal said they couldn't confirm his address due to past shipping problems so they recommended I contact the buyer and request address confirmation. After a week of sending emails and no responses, I decided to refund his money without shipping anything.

A quick search of his username will reveal his extensive internet presence and ultimately his real name. A quick search of his real name, coupled with the location he uses on eBay, will lead to... well, a fun surprise.

Nice picture. Scary stuff

Honestly, I tried to get one and was upset that I missed getting one by a few minutes.

EBAY is making me wait till the 22nd before I can dispute it. This *****.

James

As a person who sells on ebay as well, this is a good policy. There are some buyers who expect everything to happen in one day and would file a dispute the hour after buying something if they don't hear from you...

Also I don't think this deal shouted "SCAM" if you look at completed auctions it is not unrealistic for SL80's to sell for as low as $70 (heck i won an auction right after i got refunded for a used one for $70 shipped...) If somebody really had a good number to sell and wanted to get rid of them fast, $75 would be a fair price.

Plus the big thing is that PayPal protects you, I am much more willing to jump on good deals on eBay, there are many times that people do not know what stuff is worth or want it gone quickly... You come out ahead far more than you get burned (and by burned I mean out money for a few months till you get it back) If you can't afford to be out $75 for a few months you probably should not be buying this ratchet.

Ever think of politics as a career?

Great idea!.... why didn't I think of that?

But I am curious - just how many ebay sellers wouldn't have a problem being paid 'a few months' after an auction closes?
I've seen sellers start 'collections' within 24hrs of closing!!

Good point. I'm getting tired of the omnipotent types on this board. I feel sorry for them. When I pay for something I expect the seller to supply me with the item, and respond to an email on why the item has not shipped with the stated time frame. There has been a noticeable lack of civility on here lately.

Don't get me wrong, the guy/gal is scum who takes your money, holds onto it and makes PayPal give it back to you without ever sending you a word... (in fact he may have found a great way to get a 1-2 month loan on the backs of us) but when it comes to good deals I believe it is still worth the risk that occasionally you are out your money for a month or two.

I could go onto a long a rant about how the country has a self responsibility problem, and this eBay seller just ads to my arguments...

Paypal refunded my money today, one day after starting a dispute. Anyone who used Papal, do not wait for Ebay, start the process now with Paypal.

If anyone gets this, please post up. Really curious as to whether or not there was even a remote possibility if this was real!

As for the feedback, you can leave feedback even if refunded. Looks like this guy's feedback is going to go down real fast!:rocker:

It's not gonna come, dude. He sold one at $80 and saw how he could make some money on a quick scam by putting whole bunch up for sale. A little research shows the guy got busted for writing bad checks back in August.

I guess i didnt look far enough. I saw he was listed as a ****** offender but did not see the cheque fraud.

No big deal... The refund will pay for some other tools.

PayPal is making me wait 10 days for the guy to respond. Seems kind of excessive. Can't file for 14 days after auction ends and then wait another 10 days for the seller to not respond. So 24 days total. If he didn't respond after 2 weeks is another 10 days really the answer?

Got my money back yesterday from eBay. That's the last time I do business with a registered *** offender.
