Hi Taylor and Mike,

I have a suggestion. As I stated in an earlier post, I cancelled my back ordered item with you. That said, I would really like to see this promotion again, at least on the items that have a 17 week waiting period. The only exception I would suggest would be that payment not be required until the item is received into your stock and ready to ship to the customer. I have done business with many online venders in the past that did just that. They accepted pre-orders without payment until the item was in. I know I'm only speaking for myself here, but I personally don't like to pay for a regularly stocked item that I won't see for months, and I feel that others probably feel the same. I don't know what your overhead situation is, or whether this is possible for your business or not, but thought I would toss the idea out there.

Gotta say they are easily the best ratchets I've ever owned. I'm very impressed. I don't miss the quick release button when the socket can still come off just as easy practically.

They are pretty nice ratchets for the coinage. I doubt if I would get them without the promotion though. I was surprised to discover that the 120xp stubby 3/8 flexhead is heavier than the older 60 tooth version I have though.

mine are a little scratched up. this I don't believe to be Trident's fault because they come sealed. it doesn't bother me because i plan to use them but some tool polishers might be bothered by it. these are very nice ratchets I opened one up to see if they need lube and it had grease in it.

Sorry for the delay in responding to this. I have started to notice this. I went back and checked my stock and they all work great, just appear to have some minor scratches on them. This is on the closed sets as well. I spoke to my rep and I believe he is going to talk to the product manager about it. Lets see what happens.

ditch the grease and put marvel mystery oil in them. i don't know why these have grease in them. the matco ratchets that are the same type mechanism call far mmo as. i just added the oil, gave them a few spins and they loosened right up. not quite as much as my other gearwrench and armstrong in that style but that may come with use.

I use mmo in all my ratchets. Even old crappy ones that are garage sale finds. You don't have to open them up even, just fill a solo cup and soak them for 15 minutes, spin, repeat, done.

I received my order yesterday! I got a 1/2" ratchet, and the 1/4" and 3/8" socket sets. As others have said, everything was pretty scratched up. It looks like all of the sockets had sandpaper rubbed across them. Similar to swirl marks on a car hood, but deeper, if you are familiar with the term. I was a bit disappointed, as even my 13 year old Craftsman set that I have used countless times doesn't look so scratched up. I ordered some GW ratcheting wrenches from Amazon a couple of weeks ago that looked perfect, so I am not sure why these sockets are so beat up. I did my best to take some pictures of the scratching, but can only do so much with an iPhone.

Other than that, the ratcheting mechanism on the 120XP ratchets is awesome! Much smoother and better adjusted than my old Craftsman set!

Both my 3pc and 4pc flex head ratchet sets came that way in their factory sealed packaging. I think Gearwrench just allows everything to just rub against everything and each other during the manufacturing process. As long as mine function correctly I'm ok, but still a little disappointing that I wasn't able to put the first scratches on them myself.

Agreed. My socket sets were sealed in cellophane, so most likely that damage was done before they left the factory. My 120XP 1/2" ratchet was loose in the shipping box, however, so damage might have come from shipping or from the factory.

My overall experience with GW is that their chrome scratches very very easily. I have a set of GW wrenches that have been simply laying around in a toolbag along with some craftsman ratcheting wrenches (USA). The CM are like new if you wipe them with a towel. The GW look like chrome covered plastic on an old car that has been 100 times through the carwash.

How exactly are you being ripped off? It sounds like you paid for, and received, a ratchet. It also sounds like for whatever reason, it didn't meet your standards...to which you sent one email. It is pretty clear from looking at this thread that Taylor has been handling customer service for GJ members. Why not contact her? When my ratchets shipped there was an enclosed page detailing the process if you were not 100% satisfied with your order.

I appreciate what Trident did for GJ members and to see this post is discouraging. A single, un-responded to email? I'm guessing it wound up in a spam folder.

GearWrench does not have a cushion grip for the 1/2" in 120XP or 84 tooth, they only have it in 60 tooth. The part number for that item is 81303F.

Finally got the 4 pieces kit today. All of them have scratches all over the place. I didn't see the same problem in store. The scratch actually looks worse than my 8 year old craftsman ones.

It doesn't bother me unless the chrome peels with use. It might be problem people who want their tools in display conditions.
