Went to a hamfest today. $4 for the Craftsman flex head ratchet and a set of no-name Taiwan sockets.
Hi neighbor! great score, I think I will be sick now

Today from 8am to 1pm I went to 3 estate sales, plus a few hard sales along the way. I've been looking for a Kennedy Machinist chest for a while and spotted it in the list. Arrived 45mins before sale started, and was first in line. Chest was marked $40, and tools inside were marked $10-$30 each. Total came to about $190, but several of the tools weren't needed, so I pulled them out and got the chest and contents for $70. Wilton vice (my first) was another $10. Delta 4in Jointer was another $32 (they were asking $45, I offered $30 and we settled on $32). The other odds and ends were another $5, including some mandrels, dental tools, and some gauges.
Here is the haul from the first sale. There are two Starrett pin vices, some gauge blocks, starrett divider, and lots more I still have to dig through.
Next sale had nearly no tools, but I did find two commercial grade hoses on the back porch. $5 for both.
Last sale was a commercial landscaper estate sale. Lots of made in korea, taiwan, china and japan tools, but I dug around and found these. 600N wireless router, leather stamping kit, palm ratchet (I've been looking for one) etc. Total for this was $20.
Good score on all that machinist stuff and love the jointer!
^^^Some nice finds guys!!
Here's my weekend run:
From the $1 per item pile: (Klein, CM SO)
From the $2 per item pile:
![]()
Now the $5 per item pile (the SK set looks NOS from the Dresser era)
This was all from Free piles (including Gloveoleum):
Only $.50 per set. (punch set from China). English ruler was also $.50.
This was $13:
This is a Jacobs #6a chuck made in Hartford. It has some surface rust but the jaws looks perfect.
I couldn't help but pick up this obnoxiously large 1-7/8" Wright combo wrench. (about 28" long) At $35 it wasn't cheap.
You did well!! $1 and $2 items, FREE items...
not much free around here, they charge for chems and all...Let me know if you want to trade that Craftsman grinder for anything, I have the matching DA and Sander. This weekend wasn't a total lost cause what with majority of the garage sales with kids clothes and toys. I need to buy stock in that ****
From an reasonably priced professional Estate Sale,
Mitutoyo Gage Block set, Cornwell combo wrench and Padlock saying Kodak Safety which looks to have been used for lock-out/tag-out - $11
And though not from a garage/estate sale but picked up during my garage saling travels from a Craigslist ad,
Wright 1/2" drive SAE deep socket set, never used. Also a Craftsman stainless steel combo wrench. First one of those that I have seen in my travels. - $12
More machinist stuff, you guys are scoring big!! You should ask the owners if they have more of those Stainless wrenches, they pull a pretty penny on ebay.
Stopped at 7 sales yesterday and bought 3 piles of stuff:
- Weller soldering kit $5
- Gerber knife (needed), Klein 7290 cutters stamped SWBT, staple gun $12
- 8 USA clamps, heavy lamp with magnifying lens, right-angle surveying prism, X-Acto tweezers with stand, 225 piece O-ring kit (unopened), Craftsman USA 16' taper measure $14
Sharp looking knife, pun intended

Out of curiosity, what was the item in question?
