Went to a few garage sales this Sunday, here's what I was able to snag:

Garage sale 1:
- Got a pair of WWII radio handbooks, looks like one is for radar and one is for servicing radio equipment. $1 for the pair, not the best shape but the data inside is priceless.
- two electronic meters, one is Weston 0-30 amps, one is Simpson 0-10 amps. Also a glass dogbone insulator made by Pyrex. $4 for the lot.

Garage sale 2:
- Benzomatic torch set, included 6 strikers (only 2 have flints), about 4 torches and a pile of tips. Also included the instructions, which you never see. $1 for all.
- plug-in surge suppressor, looks new inside, $1.
- pile of small trinket tools, plug gappers, tiny wrenches and a pen knife, FREE
- three Craftsman wrenches, two small metric and a like-new adjustable box wrench, not a steal but worth it to me for $7.

I would laugh if all 6 strikers was short on flint! LOL

Old owner while thinking of what to do about strikers, "I'll just buy another striker instead of buying flints!"

Some garage sales have proved pretty fruitful the last few weeks, but out of the dozen or so that I hit each week only a few have anything worthwhile. Here is what I've picked up in the last month.
1st pic. Ratchets Industrial finish S/O and Armstrong 1/4 and 3/8 drive, and a 6" S/O extension.

2nd Pic Bottom up- ratchets 1/4 C'man, 3/8 Proto and Fleet and 1/2 Fairmount; 2 Vlchek tappet wrenches; a couple C'man DBE; C'man 3/4 Saltus; C'man stamped ignition wrenches 7/32 to 3/8; 4, 6 & 8mm S/O long socket drivers.

3rd pic Misc sockets - rear are Snap On, right side are a mix of Wright, Fleet & Mac, 1/4 dr Cornwell 1/2" 12 pt flex and 1/2 dr Cornwell industrial 7/16 long socket driver; 1/4 Dr Wright box set.

4th pic 1/2 dr C'man socket set, missing the 3/4" socket, all =V= series & a 3/8 dr Powrkraft socket set.

Nice scores Chopper1 and RedVise . . . . however, gotta know HOW MUCH so we know the rest of the story. No chance for YS Award, if GJer's don't know how much.

That 1/2" drive CMan set is a nice find.

You guys are killing me...Any chance you want to make a trade on the single 3/4 Saltus, Chopper? I have three and Outlaw is holding one for me so I will have four of that set so far...

Sorry, but that one makes my third of a set that I've been trying to piece together for a couple years. For what ever reason they don't come up very often at garage sales.

Forgot about this one. Found in a barn while picking strawberries with my family. All it needed was new guts and rust removal. Extends about three feet. $5

It looks like it could be an air hammer. Does the cone end come off and reveal a spot to put a .401 shank air chisel? If so, I suspect it was a rivet gun, since any bit must fit through the hole in the retainer, and a chisel or other bit that is bigger than the shank would not fit through the hole.

Looks like an air drill to me. Throw an airline on it and see what happens!!

Where'd you get it?? For $9 can't go too wrong.

With as many posts as you have, now would be good time to Update GJ Profile with at least your Country and State.

A garage sale find of tool in England is lot different than one found in Los Angeles. ;)

Here is the weekends goodness: Two vintage Cornwell rats, one an SL-2 from the '30's and an SL-7 from about 1950 (Long Handle); Proto #2 driver; Stevens Walden box; Plomb wf5 9/32 extension; and an old wrench roll (can't have two many)

Wow, I am blown away by the fabulous finds you guys have all been making in the last week or so. You ALL ****...especially Flatintoone, DaveFR, Nine4GMC, Rick, and...well, ALL of you!:drool::thumbup::bowdown::bowdown:

I just returned home from my 127 Yard Sale trip. I was only able to do it for 2 days, as the trip had to be combined with family vacation this year. Grandkids were along, and so we spent 2 days in Gatlinburg area. However, I did hit several flea mkts there, and along the way home to Ohio. I will try to post photos of the Yard Sale trip in a separate thread tonight, and then post photos of the (few) items I found along the way. (But by the looks of this thread, you guys all did better than me, by staying at home!)

I'll give you $1 for that axe head!

John

:eyecrazy:

That ol' girl will be getting re-handled as soon as I find a new hickory handle with some character.

Any guess as to the vintage? Stamped "True Temper Perfect"

From what I found, it's between 1949 and 1987. Guessing the earlier True Temper "Kelly Perfect" would be closer to '49.

I think is is closer to 49 than later. The wedge forged into the head was a early design. Nice Find!;)

I found a Kelly Black Raven Crusiers axe in a pawn shop a while back. Pretty pitted but for $8 who cares!!

I went to a used tool store today. I've been stopping in there since they opened 20yrs ago. After digging through the socket drawers for an hour, I wandered around to browse. In the corner on the other side of the store is a Lista cabinet that I usually ignore because I know that it only holds stuff I'm not interested in. Since I was killing time this trip, I opened some of the drawers ............

............ and there, where they have never been stored before, was another drawer full of sockets ! The first one I picked up was a Craftsman 25/32" !!! NIRVANA !!!!!!! :eyecrazy:

After digging through brands that I don't pay attention too, I found some spare sockets as well as some hard to find =V= coded sockets that I never see in the wild. :willy_nil

2 - 13/16" 3/8"dr spark plug sockets
1 - 13/16" 1/2"dr spark plug socket
2 - 13mm sockets
2 - 19/32 sockets
1 - 21/32 socket
2 - 25/32 sockets
2 - 1/2"dr deep sockets
1 - 1/2"dr univ. swivel socket adapter
1 - 3/8"-1/4" adapter
1 - 3" 1/4"dr socket extension
1 - 6" 1/4"dr socket extension
1 - #3 phillips 1/4"dr socket
2 - 1/2"dr metric code -EE- sockets

19 pieces for $32.10 = $1.69ea (not great, but not bad)

.

The PARK toolbox refinishing job is almost done! Just some detail painting and and it's ready. It's been a lot of fun, especially using all the garage sale tools to do the work, so I have purchased 2 other boxes to do next. I might just make a few Christmas gifts this year instead of buying them.

The owners of GJ gave me permission to use the logo, so here it is and thanks for letting me!

I'm gonna go with a widow on this one. If so, I hope her deceased husband haunts your garage and replaces the tools with Chicom stuff here and there to freak you the hell out (aka: YOU ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY ****!!!!)
