I didn't want to cause waves so I went back to the first store and got my $58 refund and my new $9 receipt for two pair.

Store #3 near me had the 58 cent wire, and cans of electrical degreaser (must be brake clean by another name) for 77 cents instead of 9 bucks.

Has anyone gotten a good deal on the 1000V stuff? There are some side cutters at the store with no real discount, and I figure I could do the return/purchase thing again.

If you show them the receipt were you purchased it at another lowes, they are supposed to honor that price.

If they refuse, ask for the MOD

If the MOD refuses, ask for the 1-800 complaint line

Most managers will cave because they don't want a call to corporate, because it comes right back to them and they don't like they black mark
Gee, I didn't know about the complaint line a few years ago, l had a recipt printed off the internet, some lows were closing out the Freud dado blade set, & this woman was being all a ***** and treating me like she found me stealing it under my coat. "where did you get this receipt"(all bitchy) and this and that. I would have liked to report her for being so NASTY, weather l got the blade or not.

Kobalt pliers are among the worst of the brand. They are terrible, do not buy them at any price.
I had a pair of the side cutters (Kobalt) they didn't seem too bad. Was about 3 years ago, maybe it was a different manufacture at the time.
Got u'm on sale for $5.00.
YMMV

It seems that the kobalt Taiwan stuff is good and dare I say respectable. But the China made stuff is of very low quality. I wonder why? How much could they save by going from Taiwan to China. :dunno:
Maybe I had the Taiwan ones, IDK.

IIRC Lowes is only "supposed to" honor the price if it's in their district, and there are limitations.

This is my understanding from a couple managers also. I have 3 stores near me that are in the same district and they match with no problems. The 4th one is in another district and is the one I have problems getting clearance items matched.

Awesome, thanks. Got the Campbell Hausfield 5 piece nailer set for $91.60 with free shipping. Just had to pay tax and used 10% off after applying for a moving coupon. $89.24 shipped.

I ran out the store, I felt like I just ROBBED them!

"electrical motor degreaser" Not the same formula but I suspect it to be a good brake clean alternative $1.04

All the other stuff was pretty cheap, about 10% of msrp.

I think I'll be making a trip back today. Going to be wiring up the Kawa project soon, and all that electrical stuff being on sale would be a big help...

degreaser is typically not the same as brake clean. Most engine degreaser that I have used is more of a foam, but it will probably work for whatever purpose.

Heck, I dont think I have ever actually used brake clean for brake parts and used over 50 cans.

its to clean the black gummy stuff out of the wound wire (stator?) parts of the motor. Some radio or AV guys call it tuner cleaner. I've heard a lot of different 'rules how you should' use it but never really gave it much thought.

I used it some on DC power supplies, I picked up 3 of the 4 cans my store had and they're gone now from every one near me.

After ordering the 5 piece insulated set online for store pickup, then being told it was out of stock, I found it hanging out on an upper shelf above the rest of the Southwire junk. Employee was nice enough to retrieve it for me.

This isn't the foaming engine degreaser you find in the detailing department at autozone, this is made to remove the bearing lubrication grease off of electrical motors when rebuilding.

I just hosed down a dirty greasy power steering pump to see how it would do and noticed there are two formulations of the same product

Acetone, heptane, Isopropanol, and CO2 is one of them I only found 1 can of this type.

Acetone, Aliphatic petroleum, and CO2 is the majority of what I got.

The second formula definitely worked better at blasting off the crud although both seemed to loosen it enough work a little wore brushing would make easy removal.

This is also extremely fast evaporation just like brake clean and smells the same too. Personally with these results and being free of MEK I am pretty happy.

Probably non flammable where the brake cleaner is very flammable

Only one store nearby had the cleaner, and it was still only ~50% off so I passed.
I got a bunch of the spools of wire for $0.58 along with some other random stuff that was pennies basically. Got all of this for <$30 with tax. You can never have enough wire! I need quite a bit of this for a project in the works.

I've seen some on clearance but hardly deals. ~$30 off a 125 unit, if I go back anytime soon I'll get a photo.

I just picked up some Kobalt 3lb mini-sledge hammers for $1 a piece. Normally $16/ea.
I got 34 rolls of wire as well at $1.06/ea that I split 50/50 with a friend

Lowes was showing online only Knipex 12" cobras in the sub $15 range
and 7" combo pliers for $7 all non-store stock..strictly mail order...maybe last week?
Not that I look. But I did. Forgot to mention it. ...

Wup, back up to $39.95 and $10.95. These two aren't store prices, online only.
They tend to do this a lot with Knipex. Quarterly almost. Knipex does have minimum orders... per store perhaps. I wonder if they actually plan to keep the line all the while constantly dumping dead stock per fiscal quarter?

Whatevs. Enjoy your visit to blowes. :0

EDIT:

I say that in the sport of good fun. : )
Because I'm being a complete hypocrite...see...see... please don't
think I'm a jerk-store. PLEASSSE PLEASSSEEE

I've gotten some of the items in the thread:

About 20 spools of wire $1.16
some zip ties, 10 cents/pak
1" EMT bender was down from 75 to 19.50
weatherproof terminals (bought about 6-7 paks) $1.17
Couple cans of motor cleaner--$1.50
6500' of poly pull line. Normally like $45 for the bucket marked down to 11.51.
Circuit breaker finder marked down to 2.80

Anyone else get socket trays for a buck or two? random sizes...Greenlee nut drivers?

Saw the Knipex 5 pc set, but it was 59 and missing one of the cutters so I left it.

Shep, got a part number on the zip ties? I'm actually running low on these. Were they marked down on the shelf or just rang up at the register?

Lowe's has some stainless steel zip ties on clearance. Item numbers 118033 and 118009.

If I didn't care about where something was made and I was looking for a cheap but decent set of hand tools, I'd go with some of the Kobalt ones. They are better than most of the cheap china junk out there.

Well 2 of the cans of degreaser have defective valves

One of mine was like that buy after a few minutes of playing with it started working.

I just wanted to report that I used these for a brake job today and it worked awesome, ********* spots of brake dust on the ground under each caliper.

Hit up 4 more Lowes, found that the older ones still had clearance items, no knipex, except for a control key. Picked up a ton of Ideal stuff, spray, wires, ties, grounding screws, rippers, circuit tester, greenlee lineman pliers and extended screw drivers, did stumble on some channel lock lineman pliers, cable cutters and a fish tape plier in a damaged package, a Fluke multimeter and non contact tester and an infared thermometer (which I put to use immediately)

So a few hundred worth of stuff for $138 and a couple of trips = more pliers than I can ever use.:rocker:

Many items were pennies on the dollar. :dunno:

The Henderson, Nevada store, Eastern and St. Rose has one (1) as of tonight:

Item name: KNIPEX Insulated Tools Tradesman' Set
Price: $24.99
Store ZIP Code: 89074
Item # 9K 00 80 D4A (MFG not Lowe's)

I believe this is the $99 set on-line, $89 in store that was Clearance about two (2) weeks ago for $40. This store has very, very little Greenlee left if interested.

Sincerely, Michael
