I want to introduce myself, I'm Bill from Alabama ... I was directed here beginning of the year when I started my garage build ... I've been lurking and reading all that time.
I started my Garage back in January ... I had my uncle and his son, builders, do it for me. It's 35 x 24 and has one 16 foot door and one 9 foot door with about 9 foot ceilings. The slab was already there and is about 37 years old with not too much cracking and sufficent footings all around.
The garage will house my 2000 Custom Silverado and my project vehicle, a 1955 Chevy Stepside soon to be started back on.
Enough talk on to the pictures.
Diagram I did in Visio early on .. the only real change was moving one of the windows to the end.
The existing slab and house, the porch area will be enclosed, making a mud room of sorts.
Up goes the framing
Trusses up, sheathing on .. starting to look like something now.
My Silverado meets it's new home
A few people thought the garage might overpower the house, make it look too long .. but as you can see from this angle the house proportions look pretty good.
Roof gets put on, architectural shingles on the whole house ... and insulation goes in
The house already had a Central Vac .. so ran a port out to the Garage and a Dust Pan.
