Wow. Some of you guys got it going on! I only have one Crown Top Craftsman tool in my arsenal. For whatever reason, my Craftsman collection skips the Crown Top era completely.

All I have is a level. Got it at a garage sale for $3. I paid them with a huge smile on my face. lol.

I bought these back in the 70's and still use them constantly.

Picked up this tool box at a garage sale this weekend. Not the cleanest but still very functional!

I love this thread. Thanks nine4gmc.

It's sent me in search for CM crown tops in my own tools. And as I read others' posts I discover some I didn't realize were crown tops, like the level.

Well, today I added this cabinet to my crown top inventory. I don't know exactly what I'll use it for, but with retirement fast approaching, I'll put it to good use.

Hang it on the wall of your shop and fill it with a Fire Extinguisher, First Aid supplies, Flashlight, Glow Sticks, etc. to use as a first aid station and emergency kit.

It's in great shape, nice find.

I would like to reserve the next 20 pages of this thread to post pictures of half the crown logo tools I have. I don't really collect the crown logo stuff, I like the older stuff but when I find a nice tool or toolbox with the crown I can't pass them up. Not sure how much crown stuff I actually have but I think it's a lot.

torqueman2002, KILLER example of a crossover logo. IIRC, the crown logo was phased out with the "V" having only Craftsman in letters above it.

Thanks for posting!

The **** Gauge was used for laying out Butts(more well known as hinges).
The gauge would scribe the door and jamb, you would then chisel out your mortise for the hinges.

I have one of those. They were sold with a power drill, the drill mounts nose down, so when you open the case the drill pops up, ready to grab. There was a guy on Ebay trying to sell just the case for $100.00

Picked up this cool little wide blade tape measure (10 footer) today at a junk store. All metal and made in the USA. Pull the tape out and it stays extended. Push the button on the side to release the lock and retract the tape.

My dad wore one just like it whenever he was working on something. I still have, think about him every time I see it.

I bought this box new in the early 1980s. It was my first box. The key that came with it has the "Crown Top" logo, while the logo on the box does not.

I made a resolution to get rid of so,etching each day this year. Today I threw this away, hadn't noticed the crown top. Anyone wants it I will send it, no charge.

I just discovered that Craftsman made some pretty cool looking vises like this one I found while picking up some RR track to beat on. it was a daily user and I haven't cleaned it up yet and it still looks good to me.

Did you leave off a digit or two? :spit: It just seems every time you turn around another cantilever box ends up in your possession.
