Mobo: I really like that metal case you got with those like new tools.

I stopped by an estate sale and found this sitting on the bench and it was at the end of the day. i also bought his old C box and might post that on the Garage sale thread once i find out what's in it. i am not sure these wrenches have ever been used or the box for that matter and if they have VV on them is that maybe 70's or 80's vintage? i didn't dicker with the $15 asking price.

That's a pretty nice box,too.

How NORTH in the west are you? we might be neighbors

The spinner is a recent addition. I'm not sure it fits in the Crown Top Logo collection thread, but it is just so unusual I fell in love with it the 1st time I saw one on this site. :lol_hitti

Thanks, btw.

That spinner is AWESOME....will you leave it to me in your will? :D

Just curious....did you have to give a lot of coin for it?

thanks for the kind words guys. jake thanks for the dates and i agree with your theory.

Tourque: I've looked at that awesome looking ratchet that you call a spinner and have never ever seen one. do you use it often or did the drill or impact wrench make it somewhat obsolete? i really like it too and thanks for sharing.

Hey, I see others are not immune to this exotic CM wrench/spinner's alure.

I've only had it a very short time, but it is in the shop/garage where I can gaze upon it. It is smooth, but positive in it's action. Has that unusual blue handle.

I've used tools for a very long time (mostly CM) and until I saw one on-line, I didn't know they exsisted.

The are very pricey, and I could not beleive my fortune when I won a BIN for $129 + S&H.

I know it's crazy money, but I couln't help myself.

I think I will take this one with me.:p

150 bucks seems to be what it takes to own one.....I've been eyeballing them for a few years now.......will probably pop for one...just need to sell something I don't want anymore...but really, what do you get for $150 bucks now?

If anybody at Sears Corp/Craftsman had half a brain...they would make a REPOP of this....if a brand new one was $40.00,EVERYBODY would buy one.....

3Bay: might be worth a try to grab a piece of aluminum foil, wad it in a ball, dip it in a bowl of water and rub on that rust spot, and then repeat. it might just bring that old girl back to life.

good luck

Torque: after 94 gets tired of digging i'll get in there and finish the job unless you are willing it to somebody. pretty darn cool

I use a product called Evaporust for removing rust from my vintage tools...

This is AMAZING stuff......just soak overnite (for light rust) and you will be surprised the next day.......also,it's a bio-degradable product (NO acid)

Obviously...if the plating is done,it won't fix that.....

Harbour Freight stocks it....around $25.00/gal.

you mean now i have a reason to go inside HF? not sure i can go there without a mask on, but you are not the first person to rave about Evaporust.

Be careful..it's HIGHLY addictive.......you'll be running around looking for small rusty things to soak in it....:willy_nil

Autozone used to stock it in quarts,I beieve....but a gallon at HF is much more "cost effective" when you have a "habit"

Thanks Mobo , a lot of guys do recommend that Evaporust. I've never see it in the HF flier because I use the pages as bonfire starters, packing material, aaaaaand to line the bird cage. :see: :eek2:

They don't make it....or relabel/rename it...which I found pretty strange.....

98% of the stuff they sell is "housebrand" china junk

Hows this......IRON CITY rust remover? :pimpflash

First - DON'T use evaporust on that keychain. It may eat the plating. Try CLR first. It will work slower and is designed to work on plated plumbing fixtures. Then go over it with the wet tin foil trick.

Second - Evaporust can be found in the gallon size for a few dollars less at Tractor Supply. I think I paid $21.99 a few weeks ago. Everywhere else was between $25 and $29 a gallon.

Third - you can make it (or any other chemicals you re-use) last longer if you filter them through a coffee filter when you put them back in the bottle. I sandwich the filter between a plastic funnel and a canning funnel used for mason jars to hold it. Don't let the sludge sit in the fluid when it isn't being used. It's just sitting there being absorbed, making the chemical less effective.

Jake: I'm happy to know i might have a better option than making my first trip to HF and actually walking in. unfortunately i'm not sure how many hours i'll have to drive to get to a tractor store. might be nice drive though out of the city.

also thanks for the tips.

Evaporust WILL lift the plating if the rust is already happening underneath it,but if that's the case....it's DONE anyways....

No driving involved here...let your fingers do the walking....and you won't have to disguise yourself for the trip to HF.

Scroll down on the auction page and watch the second video with the stuck rusty ratchet.

i'm not certain, but that might be the first C-Man middle box i''ve seen not in a catalog. that thing looks new too. 1972 was a very good year as i was a Junior in HS and a great year for tool boxes looks like. thanks for sharing.

did you restore it or just keep it that nice for 40 years?

It's been in use, sandwiched between a roll cab and top box for the past 30 or so years.....obviously it wasn't in constant use.

Bought a 3 drawer more modern middle Craftsman box to replace it recently...

Just hauled it out for a good cleaning and pics.

This one still has NICE factory paint and should look good underneath the matching 3 drawer I posted pics of earlier...

My parents always taught me to look after my stuff....I guess it paid off listening to them ....once in a while.....:p

I found a #9-2082 Power Wood Bit set for under $1.

The pouch is in decent shape, and includes the pamphlet. One of the bits is missing, and the holder has a broken/missing spade. But that's ok, I wasn't planing on using these bits anyway.

I had a handful of those bits in a box I picked up at a sale recently but didn't know what they went to so I threw them in a garage sale box and sold them with it...sorry man.
