I wish Epstein's was closer, placed my order on a Sunday and it did not ship until Tuesday. There were no drawings on my box, is that a random happening or only if you spend $100+? Also shipping was expensive.

All that being said I am happy with the tools I purchased. Just wish Epsteins was closer so I could go there instead of dealing with the hassle of shipping.

I'm in. Had my eye on the Armstrong indexing ratchets for a while. I may pick up the 1/4 and 3/8. Not much else I can reallly afford it really even justify purchasing.

Dave, if you decide to order from HJE again, you need to request the box art!! No dollar amount is required.

Dang it, I think I'm going to miss it. Just starting a new job, and don't think I'll have a paycheck in time....

Hey Everyone..... can you let us know what you are getting or what looks like particularly good values at Epsteins? Their website isn't the easiest to browse I have found. I would love to put in an order, but don't know where to even begin (there is nothing in particular that I need, but love to give them an order to get good quality tools and support their business).

"Closeouts"? big Bonney 3/4" drive sockets big S*K wrenches?
odds and ends pliers and magnetic pickup/magic claw tools?

Dang I was hoping to pick up some striking screwdrivers. Couldn't find any but there is still time to refine my search.

That is a pretty good deal (even with the $ to get them calibrated), I paid ~$400 for a different brand of geiger counter before my trip to Chernobyl.

Not that I have a need for 2 geiger counters but I might get another one just for the heck of it.

I hate you guys. There are some tools I actually NEED and all I can think about is a damn Geiger counter.

From what I was looking at they have excellent budget choices as far as screwdrivers. I browsed the snap ring pliers as well the prices were comparable on some and cheaper on others (I've been lording over snap ring pliers lately for whatever reason).

Best thing to do is plug in the budget brands and see what they got. Craftsman for most tools, wilde for plier type tools, not sure about the woodworking tools but assume irwin, craftsman, vermont american, etc would be in the budget range for most people. There are others, they got the crescent dura drivers.

Just emailed them about "flat rate shipping" from USPS and they say the do if you request it and it fits.

We are working on what we will do this year. We've been talking to various manufacturers, and are still figuring it out. It won't be the same as last year as we like to mix it up a bit. Regardless, there will be something special.

Thanks again for all your support.

Is it strange that I kind of want to buy a geiger counter?

http://store.harryepstein.com/dailydispatch/2014/06/victoreen-geiger-counter/

I can't believe that they are only $27.

Awww, you just had to point out something cool like that? Did some reading on the calibration site for fun. They say about 65% of the surplus meters they see are functional enough to be calibrated without repair work, and for the model Epsteins has it's $92 for calibration.

That is a pretty good deal (even with the $ to get them calibrated), I paid ~$400 for a different brand of geiger counter before my trip to Chernobyl.

Those are definitely neat. I carried one of those (CDV 717) & a CDV700 as a radiological monitor for the County in the 80s-90s. If you notice it reads "r/hr".

500 r in 5 hrs is lethal. Normal is 23 microroentgens/hr.

I sincerely hope you never get a reading on that meter. :shocking:

count me in... i have one in my cart too lol.... also going to pony up the $92 for calibration... eventually

Jori just emailed me back. They are ordering a case of the Wright 3490 3/8 dual pawl ratchets to have in stock for us. Count me in for one!

Does anyone have any experience with the machinist squares they just put up ? Made in India, so my ABC (Anywhere But China) policy allows me to buy them. Good enough for woodworking ?

Talking about these:

squares

Specifically the six inch.

India, strangely enough has a good measuring tool industry, part of their heritage from being part of the British Empire. Generally the best you'll find outside of a Starrett/Brown&Sharp/Mituyo.

Anybody buy the "un-named" combo wrenches? What brands have they been shipping? I know that doesn't mean I'll get the same. Just trying to get an idea b/c they are a fair bit less than the Wrights.

What else is everybody buying? I'll need to dig up the thread from last year to try to get some ideas.

Need to think up a theme for the box art too. Hope they stocked up on red / white / blue paint.
