Just read the whole thing and very impressed with what you did in such little time. Now that you got your own place this garage will be a breeze! One question though how much noise did that compressor make sitting in there?

So the video is finally ready! Let me know what you guys think

Awesome video. Seeing all of the red pads reminds me of when i did my mustang. How many hours did you have into it? I love detailing but cant seem to get it done with the same speed as others.

Update!

Hello everyone, I'm extremely happy for the positive replys that keep pooping in my thread even though it has been a while since it was completed.

As you know all know by know, it's time to start working in my own garage. There is a lot of work a head and I'm anxious. I've been thinking about different ideas, many in fact!

I did some work last Friday, the lighting in the garage was bad and I couldn't do that much in there. Luckily I was able to "score" an awesome deal. My father kept these fluorescent lights we used in our garage probably 5 years ago, I never thought I'd need them but now I'm glad he didn't throw them out! I also got all the hardware needed to do the install from my boss, he's super nice. All in all I spent $20 on 4 new fluorescent light bulbs and 4-5hrs of my time.

I think I'll add an extra fixture right where the cabinets is ( that is going away by the way ) and perhaps another right in front of the garage door, both of them will be perpendicular to the ones I already installed.

Now, I really need to do something about the walls and flooring. I initially wanted to install some type of vinyl on the walls but I haven't found the right material. I may just go with acrylic paint like I did at my parents.

As for the floor, I wanted to get racedeck tiles but they are pricey for now, I think I'll stick to epoxy and do a good prep.

What would you guys suggest to do where the gyprock and the floor meet? I don't want any water getting in there?

Thanks!

Just read through this thread, I gotta say you transformed your parents garage, damn that was awesome. I can't believe how much the tile made a difference, I have to do that to my garage! Is there any concern over it cracking under the weight of a vehicle/lift? Nice job man!

Hello!

Thank you very much, it sure did change a lot! I've been working there for over a year now and I haven't had any issues at all. I put a piece of UHMW between the lift and the tile to protect them against cracking, it even slide off the UHMW once it didn't crack at all. Porcelain is pretty solid.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this garage Nico.. I know it will be cool!

Thank you ! I hope so too

Nice size for a single. That bump is helpful.

I know! it was definitely a plus

Hello!
I have the same scissor lift like you, are you happy with it?

I'm building a garage right now and made a recess in the slab and lowered it down flush with the floor.

My lift 1400 mm.

Best regards

Hi!

I love the lift, it will be difficult to work without it, for now. I'm thinking about the recess too, we'll see if it works out!

That 7' alcove is going to be a God-send! I envision all of your detailing products being proudly displayed.

Thanks Ricky!

Actually I'll be putting most of my detailing supplies and tools in the basement, that alcove is not big enough.

Just read the whole thing and very impressed with what you did in such little time. Now that you got your own place this garage will be a breeze! One question though how much noise did that compressor make sitting in there?

Thank you! It's actually pretty loud, I'll have to do something about that for my new place. Already have something in mind!

Just read the whole thread what a great job you have done.

Thank you veyr much!

Awesome video. Seeing all of the red pads reminds me of when i did my mustang. How many hours did you have into it? I love detailing but cant seem to get it done with the same speed as others.

Thank you! I put around 15-20 hrs in total. I'm also pretty slow myself. Don't worry about it, based on what I've seen if you want to deliver quality you have to put the hours in it, there is no other way around.

Super impressive build, awesome video and amazing job on the ride....WOW....Like the labels on your spray bottle. All about marketing!!!

Thank you!

Any news on building out out the new garage?

Yes, I'm in the process of slowly building another smaller version of what I had

I just ran across your thread.
Great work.
Have you seen this thread on a comprehensive review of the best bulbs for detailing?

Thank you! I think I've seen that before, doesn't hurt to read it again though!

I got into detailing when I was fixing my woman's black porsche to match the new paint.

Got the Makita 9227c and PC 74424xp with a quart of cut/polish compound Miguire 105 and 205 (I think... tan bottle). Gonna get back into detailing soon on a car to be put on sale.

The garage is coming along. All that lighting has got to be nice. As for the walls, I like the sound of the paint instead of a vinyl of some kind. And I'm sure epoxy would be much cheaper than racedeck tiles. Also, you could always add the racedeck tiles over the epoxy later if you decide too.

You've got a great start there! Keep the updates coming.

Great machine & product choice. I use the Megs twins a lot!

Well is not vinyl,it's a plastic composite that is waterproof. These panels would look awesome and would looks be easy to clean. The only downside is the price tag $$$. These panels sell for $34/each in the USA as opposed to $56+ 14%tax here in Quebec. I think as of right now they are out of the budget.

UPDATE!

Have not been able to update the thread since I didn't have my computer. Progress has been slow but steady.

As I mentioned earlier the floor needed a lot of attention. I rented the big polisher with the diamond pad and sanded the whole garage. Once the whole thing was sanded I vacuumed all the dust. I wasn't to sure what to get in terms of protection, started looking online and was going to get the professional kit from rustoleum which is oil based as opposed to the water based that's sold at home depot. Long story short, I was detailing one of my client's cars when he mentioned buying some paint and primer for his garage but he never got around doing it so he gave me a very good deal on the kit and had to buy it. It turned out to be regular floor paint and the primer was some kind of acid. I etched the floor and gave it two coats of paint, waited around 24 hrs in between.I also sealed all the cracks with a Silka epoxy sealer.

Here are two pics, before and after.

What dubber said! I was going to say it didn't even look like the same floor! Once you get the walls done, it won't even look like the same garage! Great work!

Here we go!

I really need to use every square inch of my new garage, I want to leave the 21"X 11" completely empty so I can work comfortably around the cars.

I've been thinking about how to organize all my tools/equipment and this is what I came up with:

This area was a mess, the builder just "threw" everything under the staircase so there was a lot of wasted space

As you can see there is a lot of square footage wasted there, hard access too because of the central vacuum.

Out we go!

The water faucet was also " on the way"

The water tank was a good 2' away from the staircase so I modified the PEX piping and pushed it all the way in the back

From this

To this

First time framing a door, thanks for the help YouTube!

Once the tank was done I continued with the vacuum

Framing the new wall and doing some plumbing

Gyprock, the fitting at the top wasn't the best, had to do it all on my own

Sink will be going on top and hose at the bottom ( couln't find a blue and red faucet, will replace the handle after)

And first coat of filler

Very nice! So is the plan to try and put everything in your bump out and possibly the end and maybe up high along the wall if needed i assume. Hows your storage situation for the rest of the house? Is a shed in the cards?

Hey guys..

I haven't done any updates in a while, I've been really busy doing other projects around the house.

I have decided to start another thread so this will be my last post here. I've done some work on the garage but not nearly as much as I'd like to.

Here are some pics I posted on my fb page recently, car detailing pictures.

On a side note the paint on the floor started peeling, don't really know why but it *****!
