Hmm, makes me think there should be a lot of nice anvils just below desert cliffs. Road trip!!!
Zeet,
Great idea on that "put anywhere" vise. Why did I throw out my last set of rotors!?!?!?!![]()
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------That ACME vise has got to be good. That is the brand of everything that the cartoon "Road Runner" used on Wiley coyote.

**: did you paint that vise gold so the guys know which one to break if they are using the vise for a tough job? how did you make the jaws? your shop has some really nice steel tables so may i ask what your business is?

I don't know GET.---All the anvils, vises, canons, guns, crossbows, bear traps, dynamite, etc., that was used couldn't kill one bird and only wounded one coyote.---And now the darn things (coyotes) are everywhere.---I'm starting to question the quality.

Ok, heres my loot from Yesterday. 5 Parker bases, will fit #18-20 Parkers plus 4 swivel plates plus 3 spindle collars. Seller said they were NOS but its possible somebody cast these. Either way they are gorgeous.
Prentiss #4. Very nice original condition
Japanese Craftsman. I didn't want it but only paid $15.
Last, a wilton base. No idea what model it is from though.
Also got a nice cabinet, a 1950s delta rockwell drill press and a 1963 Craftsman all original and complete 1/3 hp bench grinder.
Hey what will those spindle collars fit I need one!
If anybody ever comes across a base to fit a 6" Parker please get in touch with me. I have your money ready.
Sure, this is my personal vise and I've been looking for a swivel base for it since I got it. The base has a 9" diameter and the swivel bolt holes are ~7" apart. Here's a photo for posterity. Thanks.
Edit: A more precise measurement is 9 3/8" diameter for the base

Oldh, all the kids LOVE 'swivelin' . It's the in thing to do. You should try it
I promise to never use the swivel. I just want it so the vise is complete and also, in its present mounting location, having it raised a little bit would do wonders for functionality. I'm tall.
The vise has no cast in model number and came with no decal. You can see the provided information in the photo below. Doing a little searching I'm fairly confident it's a 976A so I made a sticker for the other side that fits into the recess where the original one resided.

As long as the base fits it I don't care if it's a Parker No. Monkey Poop.OK Balane, hmmm...i don't think that is a 976b/a. Ive attached a pic of my 976B from the same period and it is different. Much larger anvil I think. mine weighs in at 176 lbs. I'll poke around a bit for more info.

I promise to never use the swivel.
Yeah, and this guy never inhaled.
GASP!!!
It has a 6 inch jaw width and they claim it is unbreakable due to being made of SG iron ..... I'm sure some animal will have broken one somewhere.Cwazywabbit, welcome to GJ and nice Record! What is the jaw width on that monster?
