I'm sure we'll all get an email with MO instructions once Sean is finished with all of the refunds. That has to be a fairly sizable job and will take a bit.

I'm sure we'll hear soon. Stay tuned.

Ok,

I just emailed everyone in the second group. If I'm missing anyone, let me know via email please.

Those that got refunded, you may also have been refunded the extra consumables, cups, warranty as add-ons, etc. Please go-ahead and add on to the printed invoice.

Well, poop. I thought I was in, but I'm not. I was looking at the wrong list. Probably for the best I suppose. At this point I'll drop out. Thanks a ton for all the work you did; sorry that PayPal shat the bed for us.

Are you using the right account? I show you as refunded as of this morning at 1:27 PDT under [email protected]. E-mail me if you still don't see it and I'll provide you the rest of the info.

Sean

Logged onto PP and the credit now shows up. Will PP now credit my MC or do I have to ask for it back? I have no experience with a PP refund.

I guess that I'll back out. I'm on vacation and couldn't get a check to you by the deadline. I do appreciate all of your efforts on this project!

If paid by cc or bank account, it will take 2-3 business days to show up... don't have to do anything. If paid with paypal balance it is immediate.

Got my refund, thanks.

MScott #180 - Invoice #183

I still have not received either a refund or an e-mail. I had to send the original payment as a "gift" because my PayPal address is in Canada and I wanted the product sent to a US address so I'm not sure if this made a difference in the method of refund and notification. Please advise.

Sent you an email. You're safe.

So is group 3 basically out unless enough people back out from the first 2 groups?

Group 3 was given refunds via Paypal and given the opportunity to continue with the group buy with MO's.

No one's out unless they want to be.

Aquamoose, I received my refund however I cannot get into the email that is linked with my PayPal. Can I email you my PM to have you forward me the email with instructions for money order. if you still have my email address with my username on a list somewhere, just change the 5 to a 6 and I will be able to read the email. Thank you for all your work!

Sean, just wanted to let you know you've gained another star in the hero notebook for going thru all this...

So, after this, you should take all this experience, maybe put Horror Freight out of business... --giggles-- Seriously, I had no idea the pITA doing a Direct China Buy was... sure has been an eye opener.

If we can find a ac/dc tig I would be interested to add to my stable of equipment. Remember you need ac if you want to tig aluminum. It would be interesting to see if there is interest out there .

Sean, I've left all this alone since I was stupid lucky to send a USPS money order to begin with. You do deserve a big attaboy for all the work. Are you sure the sum you have been "gifted" can even get you a decent steak? If not, I'm good for buying you and the woman a meal and a jug of claret if you wish.

jmlcolorado - now ya went and did it. I'll join just cause I don't want anyone welding on my jet boat but me. However my tig welding *****, or so say the welders that have attempted some lessons with me.
No color issues in my garage. I still wear tie-dyed ****.

Let me decompress first but cutting up some metal and I'll get back to you in a few years. For sure, I'd give some advice to the NEXT guy doing the group buy. Perhaps I should write a book on it!

My wife has been awesome. She has no idea of the Paypal snafu so the less she knows, the better :)

What she thinks I do:

  1. Collect funds
  2. Send funds to mfg
  3. Receive products
  4. Send out products

What I actually do:

  1. Get quote from China
  2. Get quote & enter contract with broker
  3. Set-up a web-based payment system
  4. Scrapped web-based payment system
  5. Invoiced everyone individually
  6. Collect funds
  7. Deposit half of the funds
  8. Get notice from Paypal
  9. :headscrat
  10. Call Paypal
  11.
  12. Call Paypal again
  13.
  14. Call Paypal again
  15. :shocking:
  16. Call Paypal one more time
  17. :rocketwho
  18. Realized that I'm not getting anywhere with Paypal so it's basically...
  19. :deadhorse
  20. Scramble
  21. :willy_nil
  22. Figure out a new plan
  23. Disconnected first half of the "train"
  24. Email everyone on the derailed portion of the train
  25. Collect MO payments
  26. Send final deposit
  27. Pay broker directly
  28. Get cutters
  29. Repackage cutters with consumables
  30. Ship out cutters
  31. Send proof of shipment to Paypal
  32. Then

Before anyone makes a mad rush on the chinese tigs, it might be worth exploring the possibility of a group buy price on the Eastwood or AHP tigs. Leaves some money on the table, but then the warranty and hassle is on their end.

.... Perhaps I should write a book on it!...
Well I think were all in agreement and appreciative of Aquamosses efforts in seeing this thru.. hell of a guy IMO

....My wife has been awesome....
and pretty smart fella to boot :)

Though Im waiting for the dust to settle on this group buy-and everyones happy I would think if you guys are serious, another thread should be started to get any real traction on a TIG group buy.

Probably just me but personally be nice if this thread was stayed focused on the cutter, 200+buy ins Im sure a lot of those havent used plasma before. Hopefully point & cut but I imagine there will be some learning curve at least for me.

But if were going beyond purpose of this thread I'd rather see options related to the cutter- like templates, guides, driers etc that will make this cutter work better, easier, when they finally arrive. ****, just reminded myself this is still 5-6 weeks out. Assume many could use a simple cut table..just an opinion. Havent even got the cutter yet and Im already not liking the top mounted switch on head...

OK,
Let's start a thread for a Chinese TIG Welder Group Buy.

We don't have a model or a facilitator yet.

So start researching and making suggestions. And volunteer if you want to be the facilitator, or help with it.

Here is the thread, with two pages reserved for a list of interested members.

I think we need a price for a tig machine and we should decide on the features we are looking for . I have a miller sycrowave 250 water cooled unit (300-400 lbs with bottles) which I love but they are big $$$ . I was looking for a semi portable air cooled ac/dc unit. My preference would be for a foot controlled unit . But that is something that can be treated as a consumable . Most of the ac/dc air cooled machines are priced in the $700-900 range that I have seen . I think we should take this thread off of this as I don't want to cause any confusion for Sean .

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk, hobbiest ,Hobart 140 mig welder, Hobart ac/dc stick, miller 250 sycrowave tig, thermal dynamics plasma, Chicago electric 180 mig ( modified of course) , Powermatic/Everede mill.
