I have family who live 1 block west of Santa Fe Ave, in south east OKC. Santa Fe is the separation of Oklahoma City and Moore, Oklahoma. The last big tornado started just on the east side of the street and went east bound and destroyed Moore. Their entire view of the area east of their home is totally devastated. Warning came about 90 seconds before it hit. And I live in earthquake country.:headscrat

Put a coat of gloss black chassis enamel on the first cast iron garden bench end, then I realised that the little wire wheels I bought for my rotary tool have 3mm shank and I have 2.4 and 3.2mm collets so they don't fit so I've ordered a set of universal collets from ebay.

Now I think the second coil is breaking down on my Honda ride-on mower, replaced the left one last year but its suddenly seemed down on power when I was mowing yesterday and it doesn't seem like fuel as the choke normally improves things if its got a blocked jet in the carb. Guess I need to get it running and pull each plug lead off in turn and see if it makes a difference. New right hand coil non genuine is fifty quid so not cheap. I also need to sit and wind new line on the four reels in my petrol trimmer head, a job I loathe as I always seem to get it almost there and it gets away from me a and springs undone.

Sat down, and let the cool cross breeze cool me down, while taking breaks working in the yard and building my block retaining wall that goes around the shop.

Cleaned up the Monza exhaust and fixed a hole in the flange then painted it with high temp paint then installed it on the motor. Cleaned the pan head on the Puma and applied some rust converter so I can paint it to get me through until I have time to pull the body of the pan. Finished getting the motor together and put it back in the car.

Two long days working on the Puma and I'm getting a lot done but man I don't think I could do another long weekend for a while, I need to go back to work and rest.:lol_hitti

Mowed the lawns, blew off the driveway and decided while I was at it to yank the body off the Triumph.

Only 10 bolts hold the body tub to the chassis. I've done it before so it was quick to pulls those bolts, brake lines, fuel, and electrical. Steering column slips free and- well, there we go.

Still got to tear down the chassis for repaint and new bolts, then address all the rust issues with the body tub.

Spent the entire day working on the Puma and made some decent progress. :D
Finished all the glass work and painted the engine compartment and trunk gray with a speckle finish. Way better than the black that it originally had. I also put the front beam back together and put all the engine tin on so it will be ready to put back in this weekend. :rocker: Soon I will have the car back on the ground and purring (pun intended):3gears:
Hear are some of the pictures from today.

After having great success last week painting my engine bay, I figured I'd try my hand at the whole car. Figured I would practice on one fender before fully committing to the whole car. After a lot of sanding, priming, more sanding, painting, and a lot more sanding and polishing, I couldn't be happier with the results.

I cleaned out the small 2 bay side. I moved the four wheeler out, set up my chop saw (finally) finished up my milk can bar stools and organized the small scrap buckets. Still so much to do on the big bay especially around the two post...

Tried to figure out why a BBC blower car didn't want to stay running. 3 of 4 carb squirters were clogged. Then the rotor in the Unilite distributor had cut through the pickup module wires. Hopefully that was it. These cars don't like to sit for extended periods of time. I need to drive them more.

borrowed the use of a friends spot welder as I could not get my HF arc welder to tack some thin metal I was practicing on....much better and appropriate for this application.

That actually looks like it turned out quite nice Matt. Especially considering you haven't done it before.

I just replaced the right qtr panel on one of my D-150s and am getting ready to paint, may I ask your technique? In particular, the black coating prior to the primer and how did you paint it? I don't see a temp paint booth or spray gun.

Oil changes on three vehicles and some quality time at the wire wheel station with an exhaust manifold getting it ready for paint.

2 oil changes with tire rotation, pulled 2 parts cars to better locations, modified a trailer to hold a slide in wrecker unit, fixed the fuel pump on the mower, about to head out with parts to tune the ****** and need to swap new tires onto the Tribute and put the wheels from the Tribute back on the Crown Vic.

Lopped a bunch of limbs and gathered a lot of scrap metal too. Got storms rolling in so the mowing plans either need to be first or abandoned for today.

Also hit my head on the garage door as I put it part way down so I could clear the lift.

Got a prototype adapter made for the 1936 Massey Harris manifold, and all was good. So now I have to make one out of aluminum. Other than that, cleaned up the mess I made from flycutting everything.

The black coating is a sandable primer. I put a lighter shade guide coat over top of that and blocked it down, then I put a sealer primer over top of that before paint. Any body guys or painters or any sane people should probably skip the rest of this post..... I'll give them time to leave the room.... :spit:

Its spray paint, rustoleum. Initially my plan was just to shoot the engine bay, make it look the best I could, then drag it to a body shop to paint the rest of the car. The engine bay turned out so good, I made a joke about doing the whole car that way. Well too many paint fumes later, that turned into reality. Now I certainly don't expect this to hold up like real automotive paint, but the car will only be outside for a few hours on a couple weekends thoughout the year, hopefully it will be a long time before it becomes a problem. I considered getting spray guns and using the summit or duplicolor paints, but with the added cost of dryers for my compressor, paint guns, mixing supplies, and a learning curve, I decided against it.

The steps I took after sanding if anyone is still interested: sandable primer and guidecoat, blocked with 320 grit. Primer sealer, wet sanded with 1000. Paint, 3 medium coats, then wet sanded with 1000. 1 medium coat of paint, allowed to tack, then 3 medium coats of clearcoat, wet sanded with 1000. 2 more coats of clear, wet 2000, then buffed and polished. All the wet sanding between coats was to keep orange peel down. All said and done, there is no fisheye, dust nibs or orange peel. There is a very nice shine and just a hint of wavyness in the large flat areas.

So what did I do today? More sanding! :)

I found a 42" belt drive fan on the side of the road a few years back fpr $60. I honestly thought it was smaller. Anyway, I made up a box for it, including screen, and I take off the man door to my garage (I have never actually walked through it) and I put this set up there for the summer. It exhausts out and I just leave the garage door shut and the door to the house open. . .and BOOM. . ***** all the hot air out. I added the fancy painted window this year. No one sees this as we enter the house through the garage.
