The builders made some good progress this week - they got the cabinets in, the driveway poured - and we went and made our granite selection from the slab. The slab gets installed on 6/11 - they still have to paint, trim, and hang the doors - and build our master bath shower spa.

Quick update - they hung the garage doors - and the openers, and the started painting the inside. After the painting and stuff is done - it will be onto the flooring, trim, granite and appliance installation.

We went with the Liftemaster 8500 that I had installed in my old shop on both doors - install looks good except for where they placed the garage door openers. They put them 6.5'-7' off the floor. I can barely reach them - and my better half can't reach them at all. Shouldn't be too big of a deal to move, but I might have to take care of that after closing.

Now for some pics:

Not much for updates - but we got a closing date of 7/21 confirmed. The interior has been painted, they are now building our tile master shower, and installed the granite counter tops in the kitchen. They still need to put in the applicances - and the flooring then we should be move in ready!

The counter tops:

Not much of an update - they are still finishing the interior - the carpet went in this week - and they have started putting in all of the electrical sockets and fans/lights.

We close on 7/21 and have our home inspection on 7/13 - so lots of stuff to do in a short amount of time.

Here are some interior pics:

That is one beautiful place. On the single bay garage, it looks like you can add some more space by pulling it forward if you needed to in the future.
Congratulations though. We've had two new homes in HOA's and finally went on our third yet resale home in a non HOA burb.

Thanks!

We could build add on to the front of the third bay - or to the back of it. There is nothing structural behind it. I would just have to get the AC units and the electrical main panel moved.

We should be good for now - but I will need a shed in the future at some point.

Update - we finally closed on the house last week. Movers brought in the furniture last Thursday - we are still making trips out to the old house gathering the last of our stuff!

The garage is a mess right now - the third bay is stuffed full of boxes/shop stuff right now. I'll eventually get to it.

Before we moved in - I did manage to put down 3 coatings of concrete sealer - that should hold up for a while before I decide to do something with the floor.

So I've moved in - moved some **** around - and started painting...

The movers stuffed everything into the third bay - making it basically a dumping ground.

I had to pull most of my tool boxes/shelving units out of there just to get to the big items.

Before:

Third bay covered in cabinets/extra ****...

Main bay corner - this is where my main work bench is going - going to mount cabinets and tv above it (of course a big pile of **** that needs to be moved to get to it!)

Started painting the main bay ceiling:

Eventually these piles will start to die down and I'll be able to get more stuff up on the wall!

Wow your new place looks great! I love the layout with the single on the side.

I am interested to know what you have planned for the 2x4's that the garage door attaches too. I am in the same boat with them exposed and not sure what to do with them.

BBSkylark - I plan on just painting them with whatever shade I choose for the walls.

I am thinking a lighter grey for the walls - and the white ceiling.

Looks like your from the Niagara region - you ever been to Toronto Motorsports Park?

Thats what my initial thoughts were for the wood, but then started thinking too hard :lol_hitti

I usually end up at TMP 5-6 times a year. I normally just drag race but this fall I am going to give my hand at some lapping with the Subaru.

I did some laps at the road course there in my buddies 05 Legacy GT probably 6 years ago - also attended a T & T night up there as well. Nice track but that is a long ride up there from NC!

I plan on going to Lowe's tonight to pick a wall color....

Is that a tankless water heater on the wall?

Yep that is the tankless setup - its in the wrong place and takes up a ton of room.

That is version 3.0 on the exhaust/vent pipes for it too - I've fought the builder on there mistake but there is nothing that can be done.

So I'm filling up all the spaces around it and dealing with it...

I finished painting the ceiling for the back half of the main bay - I think it looks a lot better! I still have the front part of the main bay - as well as the third bay ceilings to paint.

I also picked up some paint for the walls this weekend - went with a light grey color from Valspar. I might do a test spot on the wall - but I really want to get the cieling knocked out.

Here is a pick of what I got done tonight:

Painting is terrible. But it's exciting to see your project at this phase, much closer to being able to use it! Keep up the good work.

Not a huge update - got a very large portion of the back of the main bay ceiling done last night. I ran out of time/space to be able to get to all the corners of it. I need to unpack some more - and put some **** away to get the rest of it finished.

My goal is to get the main by finished by Thursday night. I need to spend Friday prepping the Vette for my road trip up to VIR this weekend.

Last night - I got the ceiling done in the main bay - and had left over paint so started on one of the walls. My plan is to prime that wall - paint it - and start getting some of my Gladiator hooks/racks/bins up and get some **** up off the floor. I will then move on the third bay and start on the ceiling/walls - and put up some of my Gladiator shelving units.

I also went to Costco and pick up some ceiling lights - that project is for later down the road.

We have color!

I finally got that long wall finished - and managed to get it painted last night.

I went with a Valspar Silver in Semigloss. I have some touch-ups to do, but it really did well for only one coat. I plan on getting some of the Gladiator GearTracks put up tonight - and get some stuff off the floor! Then it will be on to the next wall.

I also grabbed a shot of the beam that I need to finish - as this grey color blends in with the rest of the wall really easily.

It only took 1 month to hangs up on the wall!

Man painting ***** - I spent the evening doing touch up - then I grabbed 2 of my GearTrack pieces, a stud finder, a level, and got to work!

The tracks went up with no problem - and I managed to clear 2 corners out. Now if only the rest of the garage was done!

More painting progress...

I got the wall and boards around the garage door painted - I had primed the boards and was going to paint them wall color - but I decided to leave them white - I think it makes it look a bit more classy.

I also got most of the long wall primed/painted as well - I stopped where my shelving unit is - I will need to move things around before I can finish off that wall.

I also took one of my gear track boards and cut it into 3 pieces. I want to maximize space - so I hung our 2 sets of leaf blowers and weed eaters. It's nice getting all of those off of the floor! I also spent the evening getting some stuff cleaned up and put away.

My father is coming over this weekend - he is going to help me run the wiring for the air compressor - it will be nice to have access to my air tools again!

Now for the pics:

This past weekend I managed to get my air compressor wired up - this time no sparks flew! I had to get a 220 30 amp socket, a 30 amp power cord, and that was it. I moved the switch panel that I had mounted on my last shop to the compressor - this way if I ever decided to pick up and move - all I have to do is unplug the compressor.

So I got the time to get painting again - I moved everything that was out of that corner out - and my work bench and my storage shelving.

I got it primered tonight - and tomorrow I plan on painting it.

My goal is to get this corner - finished up before the weekend. Install my tv, the Gladiator tracks - and 2 of those 30x30x12 Gladiator cabinets.

I don't remember you mentioning having a welder but having that 220 outlet means you can unplug the compressor and plug in a decent size welder, of course using an appropriately sized extension cord that reaches the far corners of the garage.

While I do not have a welder at this time - I did plan for that that when we broke ground. I had the builder put in 2 - 220 sockets in the wall.

I used one for the compressor - and I have a free one still available.

Haha - they will get more shelving and stuff on them starting tomorrow!

I managed to finish that side wall and corner - I cleaned everything up and started putting my garage stuff where I think it will go. I had a set of tires sitting in the corner next to my work bench - but I moved them out of the way for now. My problem is that I create a dead space if I want to put anything adjacent do it on the opposite wall - and there is an electrical plug there.

I know for sure that my tv - and 2 of my 30" Gladiator cabinets will go up above the bench - everything else will have to be decided on at a later date. I plan on getting the cabinets installed tomorrow night - and might get the tv up there. It is supposed to be 95* tomorrow - and that makes me really not want to be out there.

So I started drilling holes in my newly painted walls - fun times!

I got my tv mounted, 2 of the 30" cabinets - and the work station.

I also moved that Gear Cabinet to the other corner as I haven't decided where all the tall things are going to go yet.

Also ignore the wires - and the set top box. I haven't decided on where that stuff will end up either.

This may not seem like a lot of progress - but just getting a few cabinets up off the floor has already made the garage feel bigger! I have 2 more 28" cabinets to mount to the right of the work station - then it will be time to start painting again! my goal for the long weekend will be to finish painting in the main bay - but I'm sure the weekend will get taken up with something else!
