Rebel - with everything being wireless nowadays - I really don't see the need for CAT5 cable...

The office and security system will be wired for it - that's probably about it

Just be forewarned that wifi can get interference from microwaves and such so for steaming stuff its always better to be hard wired, wifi will work but isn't ideal.

I've needed it already.
Extra IP cameras.
Access points for wifi.
Use it for hdmi converters to TV (one satellite box for multiple tvs)
Even to smart tv's instead of being on wifi.
Desktop computers.

The more wireless stuff you have the slower it goes. Only so many things can be on wifi before it gets crowded.

The point about cat5 under the eves is a great one though. With cat5 you can use power over ethernet to power cameras if you go that route.

Just a quick update - the framers finally got to the house. So far they have completed the exterior walls - and got some of the first floor ceiling joists up.

I'll try and get better pics later on this week - as the builders where there pretty late today - and I want to stay out of there way.

So what car is going to go in the front tandem spot?

It looks rather narrow and short for two normal cars these days. Still a nice dang garage.

SS will probably me made through 2016.

Quick update - they got the second floor framed out.

The roof trusses have showed up - but will be waiting for the crane to lift them up into place. Hopefully by next weekend the roof will be sheeted and shingles put on.

Here are a few pics:

Yeah - these guys are moving quick - most of the roof structure is up. Next will be the roof sheeting and then the shingles. Then it will really slow down...

We got a roof!

Stopped by the house today and the crew got the roof trusses all installed, sheeted the roof in plywood - and the roofers came today and started installing the shingles.

The builders have finished sheeting the roof - and installed the shingles.

They are waiting for the main posts for the front porch to be blocked and concreted in - then they will finish that portion.

The house is far enough along to show some shots of the garage - from the back of the bays.

Hopefully in the next 2 weeks or so we will get the windows, siding and brick started and installed!

It has rained here for the last 3 days so I didn't expect much progress to be made.

I stopped by this afternoon - and they got all of the windows installed and finished wrapping the exterior.

They should be doing all the plumbing, wiring on the inside - and start the brick and siding on the outside.

If you look back at post #2 you will see the property outline - there will be 3 houses behind our house at some point. Right now they are building on the 4th lot that back into the tip of our wedged lot.

The builders are chugging along - they have started on the siding and will eventually start on the brick front. We have our "Pre-Drywall" inspection on Monday.

Quick update - they put insulation throughout the house - and on the heated walls in the garage.

We paid for the garage walls to be insulated - I bought it up with the builder so that should get put in before the drywall goes up. The drywall should go up next week - then onto the flooring and making it look like a house!

After I move in - its my turn to start building:
- Install lighting in the garage
- Install the lift (Drill holes for the MaxJax)
- Install the tv mount and hang all of the cabinets
- Do something about the floor in the garage

Then I got car projects:
C6: Install the E-Force blower, replacing the timing chain gasket up front, get it retuned.
SS: Install Corsa catback.

So much stuff to do!

Quick update - the insulation is finally done after they wasted a week because the inspector had them pull it all out - wait 3 days to come back - then put it back in.

They have started on the exterior brick - so hopefully by the end of next week the drywall will be started - and the exterior might be finished up.

The crew made a lot of progress over the weekend and on Monday - they got most of the brick up on the exterior - and they dropped off all the drywall.

Hopefully both of those will be done by the end of the week.

Thanks everyone!

I stopped by the site today - they had finished most of the brick on the exterior - and all the drywall is up in the house - and started in the garage. They need to do a couple more layers of joint compound in the house - but its finally starting to look like a house!

The drywall is officially all up! They still have several sessions of taping/mudding/sanding - but with the walls all up it finally feels like a house to me. I will find out the closing date next week - but we are thinking it will be around the end of July.

Here are some pics of the drywalled garage - I can't wait to get in there and start my own projects!

If you plan on a quality paint job in the garage, make sure the drywall finishers do all 3 coats in the garage. Generally all that is done is 1 coat and likely what will be done unless you ask. So worth it to have them do it now than try later after your moved in and have all the dust from compound.

Thanks everyone!

This builder will do all 3 coats of drywall finishing in the garage - the other 2 houses that are being built next to mine are all smooth finished.

I haven't decided on what finish for the garage walls - I only used drywall primer on the ceiling in my first shop - and I was fairly satisfied with that.

I am planning on getting the cabinets and lighting up before I paint - that way I can find the studs a lot easier.

Managed to stop by the house today - they have completed the second layer of mudding - they will do a final layer and then sand it all down.

We also got a tentative closing date of 7/21 - while that it is awesome - I really do not want to pack again! Moving blows - this will be the second time in 6 months.

At least I will have all my tools/shop in one spot - and the Corvette will get to come home finally!

I snapped a couple pics of the garage:

If you scroll up - you will see the engineered support beams jutting down from the ceiling - the third bay is separated by about 6 feet of structural wall - then it opens up to 6-8 feet of open space. So both bays share space in the back of the garage.

Ahh my bad. I missed the one pic that really clarified it for me.

Quick update - it looks like they worked over the holiday weekend.

They got all of the exterior done for the most part - the brick is done, the siding, and the got the last of the roofing on. They still need to work on the front porch though.

Interior has been sanded and mudded one last time.

We are going to select our Granite slab for the kitchen on Friday - that is supposed to get installed on 6/12.

We also should get our official closing date this week....

Here are some finished pics:
