Hey Craptain, I missed you at my yard sale a few weeks ago !

Watch out for the wreckers off of Nags Heads !

Believe me I would have been there if I'd been in town. I might need to do one myself when I get some time. Maybe before Xmas.

Hello again, guys. I've been lurking all summer, and finding treasures. But no time/photos to post for you. So I promise to start posting photos again soon.

Let me start right now. At a recent estate sale near my home, there were LOTS of tools. I missed some early buys, but I found what I THOUGHT was a Niagra folding brake for sheet metal. It was dirty and rusty and in a corner on the floor, neglected. I asked how much, and the seller said, "Oh, the folder? That's 20 bucks." :bounce: I gave her the money instantly, and went on finding and buying other cool old tools. Later I went home to get my truck to load it into. This thing is HEAVY! :shocking:

But then I got looking at it more closely, and realized that this is no ordinary metal brake. It has 3 hinged "leaves," instead of the normal one. What is this thing? :wtf:

I was a journeyman sheet metal worker many years ago, and spent a lot of time in the shop fabricating with shears, rolls, brakes, edgers, etc, etc. But I don't recall ever seeing anything like this one.

Notice how there are 3 pivot points per end, instead of one?

Niagra made a lot of premium quality sheet metal tools back in the day. I have a nice 30" Niagra stomp shear already, and other Niagra brand tin maker's tools. But this one is new to me.

Don't know if anyone on the Garage Sale thread will recognize this piece of equipment, but I wanted to try it here first. After all, I love reading this thread, and finding treasures at yard sales. If no one here recognizes it, I will try the main tools forum.

This thing is rusted stuck at the moment, so I haven't been able to work the folding leaves yet. Probably I will figure it out once I get it freed up and can put it through its paces with some scrap metal.

Any ideas? :headscrat

Might be, Outlaw. But the edges don't look stout enough for anything thicker than about 16 gauge...maybe even 18 or 20 gauge. Can't wait to figure this one out.

It's actually so heavy that I can hardly roll it over by myself, to get images of the underside! :(

I Stopped by a sale this morning where I showed up about 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, and had the place all to myself, so I picked up these two Petersen Vise grips for $1/each and this old style Craftsman 1/4" Ratchet for $3.

3 sales this morning. The second stop was in BlueBomber/Bobcat753 territory. The last stop was a bust. The first stop was sparse and the prices were too high for the labeled tools. So I just picked from the unlabeled table.

Pics 1&2 - $10
SnapOn 9/32dr socket set (1944) w/an extra Duro t-bar
SnapOn OEX120 3/8" combo wrench (no date code)

The second stop was a madhouse with more high prices. I passed on some 40/50's Craftsman shop tools without asking the prices because I already have them, or didn't want them (swing-saw). I also had to walk away from a 4" Parker. It wasn't easy.

Pic 3 - 8$
Bull Dog 6" clamp
Cincinnati 8" clamp
Craftsman 3/8dr Butterfly ratchet (toast, but may be good for parts)

We went to a professional estate sale this morning. Lot's of fun digging and sifting thru tools and vintage stuff. Prices were high but not stupid high. These were the keepers.

Now are these old Craftsman motors some of the prettiest motors ever made? ($15)

Next time I need to "ream someone a new *******", I have a tool to do the job. ($4):

Went to a Estate Sale today and only left with one thing. The Ford tractor I wanted was already gone but I found this Mall chainsaw hiding, hanging from the floor joists in the basement. I would have bought more but I need to finish other projects first. Only spent $40 but I think it was money well spent:lol:

x 2

Some darn good finds there you guys. Today I hit 3 estate sales. First one in the morning I scooped up the 4 Vises.

Pic 1:
Rock Island, Wilton Shop King, Armstrong-Bridgeport pipe vise, and a modified Littleton for parts. Not gonna say what I paid as some may go up for sale here.

Pic 2:
A bunch of Misc tools: Starret mic and ruler, Craftsman oil can, Plomb wood screwdriver, Husky 3/8 ratchet and flip screwdriver, no name 3/8 stubby ratchet, Johnson hole punches, New Britain box wrench, Snap On tubing cutter, Craftsman drill chuck, and a small hand vise.

Adjustables are Vlchek, Williams (small), and can't quite read the other one yet.

Sorry for the crappy pics.

Oh man 3.bay, that vg board is the bomb!! Can you get a good straight on pic of front, sides and back for us? I think I may try to duplicate that thing for my shop since the chance of finding an authentic is slim to none!

Sale right by the house for a change. SK day for me.A SK SAE combo wrench roll complete to 1-1/4"' 2 SK 1/2" rats, one marked SK Wayne, the required Dewitt vice grips, Gearwrench flex sae ratcheting wrenches, a brand new in box KE Wyteface 100' tape, couple of pages of Channel lock pliers and cutters, padlocks and some other neat misc. Funny thing, I pick up a bunch of heavy master padlocks with keys attached, was carry around and e lady told me the keys didn't match those locks, at least she told me.

Couple stops this morning. The grinder was from Craigslist 75 bucs brand new.

There was a random yard sale a couple houses down and I picked up the other stuff for 60 bucs.

Any idea on the snap-on ratchet? It's pretty large.

Great price on everything. The ratchet is a Snap-on 3/4 drive ratchet that would sell for $60 by itself. I'm especially fond of the Baldor grinder.

Overall, you ****!

Gotta love CL ads with horrible pictures - seriously! This picture is from an ad posted for a tool sale that actually started yesterday. I kind of threw a fit this morning when I saw the ad - thinking I had missed all the good stuff. I asked about his sales from yesterday and he stated that only a few people showed up he only sold $60 worth of tools. I will post pictures a little later, but for now enjoy the blurry picture featuring 3 tables worth of hand tools.
