Round 2 helping this little old lady clean out her late husbands tool shed... Filled up 4 trash bags, 5 boxes of scrap metal, and a box of goodies for me. Including this guy:

Already sold, only took 1 text ;)

Had to work all day Sat and Sun. Drove past too many yard/garage/estate sales to count. Nice to see plenty of other GJ-ers keeping the wheels of commerce turning.

only 1 quick stop for me, all for $10: NAPA stool, and some rusty tools (forgot to take before picture). I soaked for 2 days, then cleaned off a bit with steel wool.

Kraeuter diagonal cutters
Sargent nail puller
small nail puller, with an anchor?? symbol

I will clean up the tools some more, sharpen, and use.

I just posted up a pair of those nipper type pliers I picked up a few days ago, mine are only marked "Germany."

Scooter: thanks, I saw that post, I just always called them "nail pullers", I think they are usually called end nippers or farriers (sp??) nippers. I still haven't ID'd the logo on mine.
What they are depends on the way the jaws are shaped and sharpened. Some are double beveled, some single beveled, some sharpened for cutting and some (relatively) dull for pulling. Length of handles is also a factor.
I use pretty much the nearest one to hand for whatever I need it for.

Today's finds:
3 Bonney DBE
Samson DBE
Vlcheck DBE
NBM ratchet
Craftsman screwdriver, my first of that variety.
Utica pliers
Cheap no name driver, looked like a truck brand at first, but I think it is China junk.
Total $15

thanks Captain. I have been looking this up on the 'net for the last few days. It seems the more I think I know, the more I learn I don't.

The small one has large gaps in the jaws, not sure if I can grind away and still have the jaws meet. But I will find out.

Saturday's finds:

My first Craftsman block grinder of which I've read so much about on this forum. They wanted $18 and since they were negotiable, took $12.

And these 12 smalls for $10. Didn't know the pliers were M. Klein's until I got them home and cleaned them up. I did know they had a nice feel and were well constructed.

And NOS DIAMOND OEM pliers grips:

Very nice - that $12 Block earns a "you ****" if it works.

OK well not a garage sale, but I was in MD this weekend on vacation and visited an antique mall/flea market. Picked up the following:

Yale and Master padlocks
my first SO 3/8 ratchet, F710A
tap wrench, likely shopmade
Indestro ignition pliers
Channellock mini diagonals

For whatever reason the first few weeks of October seems to be pretty good estate/garage saling weekends around these parts. Probably fitting them in before the weather really turns.

SK and Snap-On drivers. $2.50. The ratcheting one is missing the end cap and bits. I see new end caps are available but for a price.

That's still a crazy score. I say pay the $15 for the end cap and be happy. I would have loved to pick this up for that price, I don't need the bits and could use a driver. With the cap and no bits that is still like a $40-50 driver.

Good job Sam. Those old craftsman screwdrivers are popping up more lately. I bet a complete set of those would be a nice daily user option.

I agree they feel nice in the hand, and the shaft and tip look a lot better then the current craftsman offerings.

Saturday I helped an older couple move a bunch of furniture. In exchange, they gave me this 1970s Craftsman radial arm saw. It wasn't used much and it's in good condition. Everything seems to be tight. Came with a bunch of extras.

Still need to true the arm and change the blade. And make a new work surface. The saw fits perfectly on the older base. Found that on the side of the road a while back.

They also gave me an old office garbage can.

Pretty positive that's the recall RAS where you can send in the motor and get a check for. $100... If and when you get tired of it collecting dust, check out the recall.

By some chance you definitely decide to keep it, I think the recall offers a blade guard in place of the $100 check, I chose the check.

See post #5622

They are clear handles with red and blue but handle shape is closer then the craftsman pro

Thanks Sam: I saw the pic, but couldn't quite make out the difference. I'll have to keep my eyes open for these. Many garage sales have old screwdrivers, and since I have a couple decent sets, I usually just walk by. Now I'll have to stop and look.

This could get addictive !!

Oh man, this must be old school Craftsman ratchet day.

Eborcim with the RHFT.

Oak park with the quick clean and BE ratchets. And the S-K Wayne drivers, those some beauties there.

I'll bring the box head and tri wing ratchets. Picked this lot up off CL. $40 for the whole shot. Lots of cheap beaters but some decent condition stuff and some great old school Moore Craftsman ratchets.

The white bin is 90% Craftsman USA sockets, most like new.

nine4gmc - yeah, i read about the recall. i've been thinking about that $100 check.

IIR you have no options; if particular models you get the kit to "make it safe" if the other models without any kits available, you get the check in exchange for the motor and motor bracket.

Good day for me, I got a few wrenches (not sure what the Atlas tool is really for, seems to be thread gage ??), a cool looking pruning shears, a Dunlap socket set, an old Stanley level for $15. Oh, and a little vise for $12.
