I have a CAT in mine, and didn't change the oil before putting into the barn. i think I put 1,500 miles on it this summer. I can't see changing 5 gallons of oil for that. What do you think?

I change mine every other year as I am usually right at or around 10k by then, just under 4k last year and just over 6k this year. Again, mine holds 7 gallons and the Cummins/Monaco manuals state 15k intervals.

As far as your CAT, it would depend on what size engine and what the owners manual states, as some suggest in the 7500 miles, so for that I would probably do it once a year or 7500 depending on which came first.

Personally though, with only 1500 miles, I wouldn't change it that early.

Older gentleman brought over his 2002 Buick LeSabre tonight. He is a great guy and I work on most all of his stuff. He was so upset with himself because he backed up to a concrete parking block and knocked both rear mudflaps off the rear of his car.

Put it on the lift, removed the rear tires and reinstalled his mudflaps. I had to put some washers under the heads of some of the screws and nuts on the back of others as they were ripped right through the plastic bumper.

I really felt bad for him as he was beating himself up pretty bad. He is almost as **** about his stuff as I am and I really think the world of him.

I worked on the power source for the air compressor. I took out the dryer socket and put in a cut-off switch. Now the compressor is direct wired the way it ought to be.

I don't have a picture of it from today but I needed to take my truck outer front fenders to the blaster for stripping so I can drop them off at the painter when they're done.
Here's the day in July I pulled the dog house off. It's been sitting on my patio til today. I broke as many 60 year old bolts as I loosened. Tough job single handed but I'm stubborn and cursed a few of them off!

I finally finished fixing my truck. New radiator, upper radiator hose, transmission cooler line, thermostat, thermostat housing, intake manifold gaskets, and fresh coolant. A nightmare of a job that took a whole month to finish between waiting for parts to arrive, parts getting lost in the mail, fixing things and realizing more things need fixing, and not having much time to work on it. I'm SO glad it's done and over with!

Spent some time in the garage today turning carbon fiber pen blanks. This is real Carbon Fiber, not some vinyl decal. The carbon fiber tube is bonded to a brass pen body and then encased in clear alumilite resin before being turned on the lathe to final shape.

I will say, this stuff will make a mess! I quickly plugged up my entire 4" dust collection system with a softball sized wad of shavings! Here's the finished products in both "Gearshift" and "30 Caliber Bolt Action" pens:

Fastenal had to order them but they will be in on Monday. $1.29 each. I got an extra in case I screw one up pressing them on. They are BL brand (something like that) and probably made in China like the factory ones are. I could have bought them at NAPA and got SKF bearings made in Argentina but those were $21 plus each.

Picked up a 4 inch diamond cup wheel from Harbor Freight and finally took care of that today (well-I hope I did it hasn't rained yet) with the grinder.

Added a piece of pegboard to my basement workbench cove, then decided to build a poplar screw driver rack, and did a bunch of pegboard Tetris to fit my recent Epstein's purchase in.. Moved some hammers to the opposite side of the shop, etc. Think I may do more of the poplar racks for as much as I can, really like the look and it really saves the space that those traditional wire holders take up...

Fabricated and welded a 6' x 8' burn box. Now I can burn all the deadfall, brush and trimmings from when I built my shop. Burn by day and close the doors at night.

I liked her the way she was - sage green, etc. but I took the front end off to install a Fatman Fabrications IFS system I got a deal on and taking the engine/trans out makes that easier. I had removed the rotted bed wood along time ago and planned to flip the rearend on top of the leaf springs to bring the rear down level with the new front suspension. So it's only four bolts to remove the whole bed.

From there the slope got slippery real fast. The bench seat was not bolted in anyway, the steering column has to come out to install an ididit column for the new MII rack so.... It became a total frame-off redo job

The cab & doors are already in the body shop, all rust is repaired and the doors are fitted with nice gaps. I dropped off the front fenders at the blaster Wednesday and I was REAL surprised that they had NO rot, no repair needed. I was also surprised they were '56 fenders with the original emblem holes welded shut and re-drilled for '55 emblems. So I've got to assume she was in a front end wreck when I thought it had never been in an accident OR they were both rotted - typical, and replaced back in the day when these fenders were cheap at a wrecking yard. She's gonna be a dark red, lowered with the 283 back in her and be my daily driver after I retire in two years.

The side panels were a LOT harder, but I think they came out pretty good. The bike, to me, looks a hell of a lot better. I never liked the silver side panels!

Interesting thought. I have a couple of side panels on my quad that could use too much TLC. I wonder how it will hold up to mud, snow and branches on the trails?

Almost finished air lines. Mounted hose reel and but short two fittings which I picked up this afternoon and can cross that off the list. Also cleaned, again, secured grinders and belt sander to the bench, and began figuring out what to do with the fabrication corner. Initially thought I wanted everything on wheels but the shop is filling up more quickly than I expected. Go figure Now I'm thinking the three welders and torch need their own space on the wall and the crane and "fab table" will bring the work to them.

Spent some more time on the Harbor freight motorcycle lift table that I bought a few months ago.

This is going to be recessed in the floor and I want all accessories wheel chock, tie down points etc. to go on and off the lift with no tools required so I can have a flat floor when the lift is not in use.
