Hit a sale close to work and picked up a Stanley No.7 plane for 7 bucks and a plank of Bocote wood for 2 bucks. I don't have a project in mind for it yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Got some nice items today. Grinders were $50 each, the CM wrenches and rack $7. The blower was $10 . I found it bolted between the rafters in the basement ceiling, I think it was used as a fallout shelter back in the day. I read that Champion forge had a sales boom in the 1950s when they had a rush on their blowers for fallout shelters.

Took some cans and some scrap steel to the recycling place.
Got $16 for the metal, they wanted $19 for the box. I paid $3 out of pocket!
SK Professional top box. Good condition, nice and straight. All the drawers slide well... nice box. Wonder why someone would scrap it. Paid by the weight, it was ~50 lbs.

Wow. Great pickup. I keep looking around my recycle yard & resale shop for some decent boxes, but no deals like that.

Any idea what this size would have been used for?

I had spotted that grinder on the CL ad for that sale, but unfortunately I had to work. Nice pickup Marty! Like the oem craftsman wrench rack too!

Yeah, Steelmaster.
There's a gap below the bottom drawer and the drawers sit recessed into the case. I wonder if it had a cover that slid in below. I'll have to do some googling.
A tower of these would be awesome.

Starting to get real thin here at the local garage sales, end of the year and cold weather is here. But got these:

odd offset DOE, no maker's mark
11-inch Fairmount adjustable monkey wrench
Plvmb NAF-USN marked combo wrench
brass adjustment wrench of some sort
bronze crableg cracker? pretty neat....

pair of worn-out files that will soon become knives
8-inch C-clamp made by Brinks & Cotton, missing the little flat part on the screw, but I have an industrial art project in mind for it so this doesn't really matter

Four stops this morning. First one was open yesterday and I didn't go but now I wonder what I may have missed out on. I got this whole box of mostly Starrett measuring tools, bunch of files and three bags of conduit fittings for $17.

Second stop only got 3 pair of Petersen vise grips and one pair of knockoffs for $5.

Third stop I had to pull a dirty move that I am ashamed of but can't help but laugh at the same time. A funny old guy and I are the only ones at this sale first thing and we tear in to the work room. There is a utility cabinet that is locked and the owners says if we can get in it, everything there is for sale. We hammer the pins out of the door hinges and take the door off! Inside I find this tool box full of Craftsman nothing else interesting to me so we go inside to look around. While in the kitchen, I overhear a lady ask the owner if he called his wife about the mixer yet. He replies that he had not and she asked him to please call. I look over and see the mixer and it happens to be one I have been looking for to get my girl for a while now so I follow the owner outside. He makes a call and I hear him say $20 for the mixer and the person on the phone tells him no way, $35 or more and he gets off the phone. I immediately ask how much for the tool box with tools and the bug light. He replies $10 so I ask him if he'd take $40 for the tool box, the bug light and the mixer and he agrees. I asked my girl to go get the mixer while I took the tools to the vehicle, she was not aware of what just went down. She strolls in the kitchen and grabs the mixer, the lady waiting follows her out saying "that's my mixer, I wanted that mixer". My girl could not even make eye contact with her she was so embarrassed. I was in the van laughing. I feel bad for snyping the lady but I got my girl her :: present taken care of early and almost caused a grandma fight.

$30 mixer, look on my girl's face = priceless

Not many sales with a holiday week coming up, but it only takes one good one to make the run worthwhile!

Out of a little plastic carry box, (and expecting it to be full of import ****..) and I start by finding an old Plvmb, wrench, then "Hey that looks like it's good!" ... Snap-On! And so it went; getting better all the time!

I've got a double handful and had cherry picked all the good stuff already. "How Much?"

"Honey, Howe much for those tools he has?" "Five bucks!"



SO, Plvmb, Proto one williams wrench, a couple of P&C, an SK Frankenstein ratchet...

My daughter bought this Chair for the workroom her and SWMBO are setting up.

Elsewhere, an ammo can for $5

And the wood Mallet and Chisel (Union) were $5 at another place. the matchbox Samurai was at the same place as the Ammo can.

The Samurai tickled me for two reasons (despite being Chicom... ) I've been looking for one for 15 years or so and its red just like my current daily driver

Went to a sale this AM and the place was picked clean. I didn't see anything I needed and saw another shelf I had not looked at. There were some OLD packages of sandpaper.

A full pack of 280-C, an almost full pack of 320-A, an almost full pack of 400-
A and a few sheets of 600-A.

I grabbed 2 hinge punch thingies and paid $3.00 for everything.

That's less than 3 cents a sheet for some quality sandpaper. Hopefully the glue holding the grit to the paper has aged well!

I never knew the corporate name for 3M - Minnesota Mining & Mfg. Co.

Hit an estate sale early and picked up some locks ,both with and without keys. An American Boy block plane, Starrett 98-6 machinist level and a wall hanger for the boss Paid 13 bucks. Went to an auction and watched 7 Starrett mic's sell for 300 each The seven sets of telescoping gauges ,one starrett sell for 165 each . The kicker was when a 4-1/2 " standard vise sold for 265 . I knew I was out on every thing there but stuck around for a good laugh so I could see a 6" Jet vise sell for 400. ... A fool and there money!

Stopped by the ReStore place today and walked out with the following for a total of $39. A MK Morse Bandsaw Blade(New), 2 Hilti 2.6ah Batteries and Charger and a 42" tow behind dethatcher (no pic). Also a pic of my new to me Cub Cadet. Should be nice for snow duty this winter
Now to find a Hilti cordless tool

Hey back up is right behind it, I'll only use it for storms under 6" when the ariens is too much power or if the snow is real slushy. Beats shoveling the driveway.

I've already used it pushing dirt and its got some good power
