Ok I guess this should go here - maybe not - I posted awhile back about a estate sale were I picked up a Commercial Wright Stander 52" deck lawnmower for $75.00. That was late fall. Changed fluids, filters, and installed a new battery in it. It already had new blades. Power washed it and listed it for sale on Craigslist. Last Saturday morning I met a buyer from Chicago in Mankato, MN and he paid my asking price of $2000.00. He drove here to pick it up and 2 others that were listed for sale in Minneapolis as the prices were about $800 less than in Chicago. Off to a local auction on Saturday to see if I can do it again.

You deserve a "You ****!". Well done :)

Rileysan.....Thank you! Only my second "You ****" since posting.

There were three flee market sellers in front of me when we entered the tool shed. Everyone was grabbing what they could as fast as they could and I was doing the same. The tool board was the last thing I picked......surprised it lasted so long. I grabbed some nut drivers from a tool box and took it down. Don't know much about "KAL"

Seller asked $40.00, I offered $35.00, she said...$37.00 with tax, I said...OK.

I've noticed a trend in my area that all the yard/garage sales start on Thursday or Friday during the day. Not sure what the idea behind it is since most people have to work during the week. Maybe they want to leave the **** for the people who come on weekends?

that's one advantage I have working the weekend shift. I've got some great things on Thursdays and Fridays. always nice to have the first look. and as a bonus, it's mostly old ladies during the week who have no interest in tools.

Dipped in to one estate in the big city I was working in just at closing time.... I was driving a 150 Ton crane weighing 141,000 pound 70' long and 11-1/2' wide ! I only did it because it was along my permitted route and there was a open lot across the street. I made a grand entry but didn't score much. Sales don't look to promising this holiday weAkend so I'm glad I got what I did.
For 6 bucks I picked a No. 70 Stanley wooden handle screw driver , a Ford USA automotive wrench and a Acme dual grit oil stone with a nice wooden box.

Thanks BB and Thanks L'ponderosa as well. These are rare days for me. Seems I'm always watching everyone else ****...I guess it was my time. Sometimes you just have to be one of the firsts in the door....but I have been to other sales in the waning hours and have found nice deals.

thecody.....good luck on your snap-on sale...hope there are tools and hope the prices are good.

Well, hit an estate sale in Sac today, as I had something to do there this am. First day of the sale, and a promising one at that, with a good workshop, and a crew who isn't to bad on first day pricing. I got there about 3 hours after it started, and came away with some good stuff for $45 all told.

misc. smalls Proto, Starrett, Blackhawk, APEX, Armstrong etc. Also, a nice Square D Wiggy, will go in my truck.

A full set of Buckingham climbing belts (not that I can use them anymore) and more sandpaper than you can shake a stick at. I will probably be back on Sat. as I will be heading that way, see what I can pick up on the cheap days.

Just imagine how many more would come if they knew or had an idea of what the tools are. You going tomorrow?

It is a huge **** shoot but it isn't too far from me so i might go. You never know unless you go and see for yourself but by the pics it looks like old lady decor. I can't see any tools or snap-on stuff in any of the pics.

Well I got a box in the mail today from one of my tradin buddies, so this a a second hand score:

First Pic is almost all long C Craftsman the dividers/comass, and adjustable are PEXTO

attachment.php

Second Pic is Almost all Plvmb, and a sprinkling of Proto LA (three wrenches up front & the hack saw), with the pliers in the back being Krauter. The regular slip joints in the middle are J.P Danialson with PROTO overstamped! How cool is that? :pimpflash

Well, I live in St. Cloud and have to work tomorrow morning, so no way am I going. If I was close, like 10 minutes close, I'd chance it. If I'm driving an hour, I'm passing with no photos of the tools available.

I am only 25 minutes away so I might go. I think I will sleep on it if I am going or not.

These are two of the tools I found at an estate sale that had a lot of old tools. I filled up a box for 20 bucks. A Proto 2 way mallet and a MAC Sabina magnetic driver. I want to find a rubber head replacement for the mallet. The old MAC driver will do until I find S-K's magnetic driver, eBay prices are more than I want to pay.

Picked this guy up today. Offered $8 and they took it. Yahoo.
I don't have much conduit but will use it for pulling clean rags through pipe and fishing wires in walls. I also got a good sized plastic tool box full of **** splices, wire nuts, spade, ring and quick connect lugs and bunches of other switches, connectors, tape solder and irons. My first sale of the season.

Went to one ES today and unfortunately no tools to be found in the small condo garage. But some toys inside in the form of diecast Nascar collectables. #24 transporter and car, #48 transporter and car. #20 Championship paint Tony Stewart car. And one of the many #3 Dale Earnhardt cars. Not really a Chevy collector but hey it's Dale! $23 for everything.

FINALLY I got my new internet provider, the old one was so intermittent it was not worth it to post!

First 2 pics was a sale about 3 weeks ago, $26. Craftsman C-clamps, Crown label circle cutter, 1980's yardstick and vintage corner brackets. Proto 3/8" ratchet and a little ratchet set from 1969 for a safety award for the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant that used to be about 30 miles away. The crowbar in the back is a 36" Berylco Copper Beryillium one!

3rd pic bottom is a flea market the week after, $3. Six Proto sockets, one Snap On socket and a Williams wrench.
On top is last Friday's meager pickings after hitting 5 sales. $11 total. Brinks and Cotton open screw vise and a real Leatherman in nice shape. I had the knife set next to the vise while I was half underneath the workbench taking the vise mounting hardware loose and a lady picked up the knife and didn't want to give it back!

No sales today, was waiting on the Suddenlink guy!

Nice yardsticks BB....I always pick up yardsticks at sales...I like the advertising. It seems today they are a thing of the past.

Sweet crowbar too!

This being half of what I bought at a garage sale, the other half which comprised of a tool box set of metric combination wrenches, channel locks, set of philips and standard screw drivers which I gave to my daughter all for $60 the sockets which were H code full set with breaker bar t handle and extension..wright torque wrench..:D

Nine, It's possible, I haven't hooked it up to try as yet. Not suer how much stroke it has not if **** adjustable other than with the reg.

CB nice finds! I hope the chain hoist works out for you!

Outlaw, I thought I'd update the chain hoist I bought in Feb. Got it running today after replacing the cap and external start switch. I did a write on my shop thread. In short, I now have a 1/2 ton hoist for a total of $ 160. I'm happy.

I forgot to take pics of this from yesterdays box that came in:

Its a Craftsman "Powr-Panl" with the Long C Craftsman log embossed in the metal. NOS most of the box is still there as is the instructions.

This was intended to plug into a power tool table they had available.

why does one pull clean rags through pipes?

I have always "dragged" all plumbing I have ever installed unless it is double bagged for ultra high purity plumbing.
Just today I put a copper manifold together and pushed clean rags with isopropanol through them....damn glad I did as they were dirty with production oils and grim.
