I really like the old hard hat!!! The first hard hats were ball caps dipped in oil and allowed to harden. The workers on the Hoover Dam started wearing them because of the trolley system over head used to pour the concrete was a constant threat to drop material on them. Funny Now you have to wear a hard hat just to walk on a job...

Although I am now in Central OH, spent most of my life in SE Ohio along the WV border. Lots of mining used to be down in that area, so when found the worn miner hard hat with carbide light, had to have it.
BTW, I think I wore thicker baseball helmets than what this old style miner cap has as protection!!!

) when the gas can guy came back. He was not too happy that I bought it. He should have left a deposit if he really wanted it. I feel kinda bad about it, but its a tag sale, the guy who is standing there with cash and willing to buy it as-is takes priority over the guy who wants to go home and get gas so he can test equipment.
