I get this one all the time. Problem is there's nothing in the $20-30 range that I need or even want!
:dunno:

Open it up a little and you get some pretty good options. I've seen the Wera screwdriver kits drop to $30-$35. Knipex and Gearwrench items also. Just search a brand then limit to "sears only" all of those items you can use the coupons and your points on. Also you may want to search SYW also, sometimes the prices don't match up and one is cheaper. I only use the coupons when I have points.

I also bookmark items I want with the price so I can keep track of the lowest price, I just created a SYW folder and throw them all in there. GW 120XP ratchets can drop to a little under Amazon's price so you throw a $10 off $20 coupon on there and you're doing really well. Right now the Wera chiseldriver set is only $2 more than Amazon, I've seen that set drop to as low as $35.

Went to Sears last night and I came across the 12 piece nut driver set reduced to $18. But these were all the Chinese sets...then when I went to the non clearance section I saw the 10 piece Chinese nut drivers for $39. Needless to say I was confused.

It appears they are switching to the 10pc sets so they are clearancing out the 12pc sets. Kmart did this very same thing a few months ago.

Picked up my standard and metric 7 piece nut drivers and lucked out and got USA goods, surprisingly.

Looked around while waiting to be helped and saw a box of loose, assorted Craftsman Professional drivers (flat, cross/Philips, torx, scratch awl) was quoted $4.99, rang up at $3.99. I declined on account of already having a metric **** ton of drivers, and he offered $2.99. Looked through and couldn't build a complete set so I, again, declined. May change my mind and return...

I stopped by the "main" Sears in my area today, and behold, Craftsman Made in USA Socket Holders (3-Pack 1x 1/4", 1x 3/8", 1x 1/2")

Was excited at first, but later realized the socket holders didn't have any easy-read numbers indicating the size of the sockets.

It's $10 (probably made out of hard plastic), nothing fancy, but feels kinda' sturdy without sockets attached. I wonder if it will withstand a full array of sockets. Out of the package, each socket holder holds up to '8' sockets. Additional socket holder clips are available for $2.99, that too made in USA.

I've noticed the "tool" section gets smaller and smaller every year in my local Sears… I'd say appliances and OPE take up over 1/2 the store. They are however situated on some prime real-estate.

For me, its convenience… their less than 5 minutes from my house. So if I need something quick, like in the middle of a job. Otherwise HD and Lowes have a better selection and prices.

^^^smaller and smaller, also, tools scattered all over the place, over-inflated clearance prices, and virtually deserted, hardly any customers. The only customers I've come across were those innocent ones warrantying their USA-made Vintage (-V-, =V=) Craftsman tools.

One time I wanted to step in and intervene. The customer ahead of me was so excited when the store associate replaced his 3/4" Drive ratchet with one made over-seas. The customer was ecstatic and told the cashier, "I love Craftsman because they make tools in the USA!" Cashier grinned, and the customer walked away. It was a WTH moment right there.

Customer was so desperate, the following week, I had to return an item, the same customer was there trying to redeem points and couldn't do so as the coupon number was invalid. Since the tools section was in the Basement section, there was no reception. He didn't want to leave the store, and decided to go to clothing section (upper level) to call up corporate (Shop Your Way Rewards team) for the getting points resolved. I had an issue getting refunded to my Paypal account. By the time, my refund process was completed, that customer ran downstairs in a hurry (Desperate time demanding desperate measure) to proceed with his purchase of Made in China 3/4" Drive sockets. He got $20 off.

Craftsman 50 foot air hose $9.99

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-8-...0916110000P?prdNo=15&blockNo=15&blockType=G15

Are these any good? I don't know the first thing about air hoses. I just have a coil one now, but a longer, straight one may come in handy. What does everybody think?

I have 2 of those hoses. Not bad, not great. I used them for 2 years with no issues, until I upgraded to the Goodyear yellow hose. They are not super flexible when cold. But I did like the coating, they are easy to clean. I guess it will depend on how much you use them. But for $10, I say it's a good deal.

It's plastic so only buy if you are desperate.

I've gotten couple red rubber hoses at garage sale that have ended up getting used often that I nearly like best. Also have received the BlueBird hoses to try out (blue hybrid rubber . . . anti-kink) and their yellow "dirty environment" hoses that are both very good. I'd recommend 3/8" BlueBird over those crappy $10 plastic hoses from Sears. Watch for Menards sales at Xmas time for the BlueBird hoses that are around $15 to $20.

A lot of people don't care for the PVC hoses. Craftsman has their USA-made 25' rubber hose about half off at $15.99. I'd say it's worth the extra money unless you really need the full 50'.

I've read that hybrid hoses are the best. Last week I decided to spring for the Tekton hybrid as it's made in the USA. It was about $26 for a 50' hose. I haven't had a chance to use it yet so I can't comment how I feel about it.

Still love my Flexzilla. Hopefully they go on sale again so I can grab another. I got the 3/8 x 50'. They're all full price now ($10 off the hose/reel combo). I'd like a 1/4 x 25 for my pancake.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I think that I will hold out for the Tekton. 25 feet is more than enough for me. That is around $18 at Amazon and Sears. Might hold out for something better, but it's nice to know that Tekton is an option for when I need it.

Flexzilla one I have is great, but it gets dirty easily and difficult to clean. Amazing flexibility, though.

Like it was said before, Yellow Goodyear one is very easy to clean.

i had a goodyear one and loved it, got the flexzilla now. my only complaint is it seems like it has some memory and gets looped easy, however very easy to correct unlike others.

for cleaning, i soak a rag in brake cleaner or something of the like and run it up and down while wrapped around it. cleans right up

Anyone else using the Flexilla 50' reel? right out of the box, you can hear a slight leak internally on mine...

My flexzilla leaks internally like crazy. I have 4 of the 50' reels in my shop. The one that gets used the most is about shot already. Only about a year old.

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for some reel crafts to start replacing them.

Anyone else get this message: Coupons have been locked due to the number of times you have tried to add incorrect codes. Please call 1-800-697-3277 and we'll help. ?

I called the number and it just goes to the general csr line and they don't know have a way to clear up the account. :( So I can't use coupons online anymore, unless I open a new account I suppose.

I've had that happen... I tried again about a week later and the codes worked fine again..

I had that happen a couple years ago, and things might still be the same. At the time I figured out that if I cleared my browser cookies and re-opened my browser, navigated to the Sears website, added something to my cart without being signed in, found and applied a generic coupon code to the items in my cart, and then signed in, the already applied coupon code would break my account out of the error message and everything would work again like normal.

Dang, that's some fix.

I just ended up opening a new account.

Every time i get that code "Coupons have been locked due to the number of times you have tried to add incorrect codes. Please call 1-800-697-3277 and we'll help" I just clear my cookies and browser history and they work again, that's what the rep will tel you to do.

I spent about an hour at Sears in Newington NH yesterday just looking for USA stuff. Not a single USA ratchet of any size, not a single USA wrench set, socket set, tap set.

There was 1 USA loose stock nut driver, some loose stock wrenches and sockets.

I did end up spending $55 on a Vince of Western Forge stuff: precision screwdriver set (acetone, not the cheap plastic handles), precision torx screwdriver set, 2 piece mini screwdrivers, 4 piece offset screwdrivers, tack puller, and bottle opener

I usually try to pick up a Channellock or Knipex, but nothing was on sale

Still waiting to see a deal on a work bench.

How long you been waiting? Sears cleared out the Gladiator 65" workbench for $75 back in late February, and it might be a while before see a deal like that again.

I picked up the re-threader set recently - is that still USA?
