Are there any "scarce" planes in that pile? Stanley #1s are popular, but not scarce.
Any high end levels, etc.?

I like the info/advise that Crguy passed along.
It would be nice to win the bid, but the next step would be how to handle it and make your money back in a reasonable period of time.
Thanks for posting the pics, as it's items you don't get to see that often, in the condition that they have been kept.

No doubt it will be a lot of work and some will end up in my own collections. Time wise... if done in a year I'd consider that good. I would have to contact all the collectors I know and have them spread the word. running something like this through ebay would be insane..
A trip to the flea market was supposed to be followed by a sale at a mechanics' that was losing his shop. The guy flaked out and never showed up to his own sale. He posted the listing on CL last night but must have been too hung over to be bothered getting up this morning. He deleted the listing 90min after the sale was supposed to start. There were three of us waiting at opening time but we all gave up after standing there for 30min. After talking to two other guys that share the building, the landlord is kicking him out for not paying rent. Apparently he doesn't bother to show up during the week, no wonder he can't pay the rent. It may not have been worth it anyway. The guy only works on beater Suburu's (the front of the building was cluttered with the carcasses) and the rest of the shop is filled with trash, according to the other occupants.
Anyway, here's what I picked up at the FM for $4 -
SnapOn OEX-200 5/8" short combo wrench (owner's engravings)
unknown 1/2" Hex drive male-male universal
2 - 90* oil cap fittings
unknown detail carving chisel

Most collectors won't be interested in the common stuff - they already have all they want. The only people that buy common stuff are new collectors just starting out, and there don't seem to be a lot of them.
Ebay prices for common planes are way down.
I was going to ask about Bedrocks as they are salable to users also. However, there is no 604 1/4.
The best levels of course, are the inclinometers, rosewood, and fancy cast iron like Davis.

Did I get $20.00 worth of cutting tools ? I not sure what all the different shapes cut but I'm going to find out. I wish I had found the holders for for the indexable ones.

Here was my find for yesterday. Went to the grocery store and a young man was posting signs. I followed him home and bought this 1200 watt generator for $5. Fired it up with 2 pulls, and it was full of gas.

This thread would be sooo much easier to read if people would post thumbnails instead of those huge pictures.
It would also take up way less forum space ;-)
I disagree. I like the large photos. I can just scroll down the page and see everything easily. Having to click on every thumbnail to enlarge it is kind of annoying.

GP, not sure, but I believe the unknown grips are for crimping alligator style flat belt lacing. I have a commercial lacer that I use, and the pin is inserted into the bend area of the lacing to prevent completely collapsing it, and to provide a pathway for the retaining pin upon assembly.
Now that's a usuck...![]()
