I've only ever had Mac and Mayhew for a striking pry bars and Snap on for standard pry bars. I dont have a Mac driver and gave this one a whirl. It feels good in the hand and its not a mix of rubber and plastic. The Mayhew bars have rubber handles which feel like they never shed grease. Snapon still make the standard handle Snap-On pry bars. Tell you what tho. The shaft is a good size beefier than my Mayhew Dominators. Its practically the size of my 42" Mayhew bar.

Bought the micro lithium drill and prep tool today. Already have the rattle gun, ratchet, screw driver and torch. Love this gear. Also bought the master fuel pressure tester kit but no pic sorry.

How's the prep tool? Does it come with any pads etc?
I'm hoping we get them over here in the uk soon.

My dealer told me earlier today that they've just killed them off. Any orders for the old prybars are superceded by new bars once old stock has run out.

I just bought a near-new set of the old handled ones because of this.

Ditto for me. I have access to three Snap On drivers in my area and good relationships with all of them. They all said the same thing. The old hard handles are out. I managed to score a set of red old handled ones from one of the drivers who held a few sets back for his own use. New-in-box and with a warranty. I can't complain.

I really wanted black but all he had was red or orange. If anyone wants to trade NIB red for NIB black let me know...Still trying to figure out whether I like the red or not.

A few months ago my dealer mentioned that production had ceased, and the few sets he had in stock were sold quite quickly. The set i just bought is very lightly used, and about half of retail so i'm happy with it. I already have a set at work i bought new.

Just bear in mind, if you break one it'll be replaced with a new style one.

I have a 36" with the old handle and now regret not buying the 42" (?) to match, but i have a 60" bar i use when i need it so maybe not a problem.

Draper fluid stop kit - thanks to one of superautobacs videos in the 'tools of Japan' thread. Engineer PZ-56 slip joint pliers, Irwin bolt-grip expansion set and a NOS Club Equipment ball joint splitter.

Yea the only reason I bought at retail was because they're drying up.

At half of retail you got a really good deal. I actually like the newer style on everything except the smallest two bars. With those two clearance can become an issue. I should be ok as far as breakage is concerned. I just work on personal vehicles out of my home garage. Never go out there in cold weather either :bounce:.

I think I might have to hit up the 'bay for a 36'er. 42" would be nice too. I have a 36" and 48" from Mayhew, but honestly I prefer the Snappys even though they cost more. I really hate they discontinued the hard handles; though the Instinct drivers are pretty nice.

I'd be interested to know how this one works out for you.

I only did a mock-up for now just to see how much room it needs, still need to clear a space for it in the garage.
First proper use should be in about a good week or so.
Will let you know if this works better than the 2 threaded rods of fear. :)

I think it's worth doing before they're all gone. Yeah, i think i did ok with it, i probably would've paid retail if they were still available. However, this is a much better deal as they're barely used, and will look more used when i put them to work.

The 36" bar is useful, but i still rarely use it. My 60" bar is just plain steel, angled at one end, straight at the other. Does what i need from a huge prybar so i don't think i've missed much by not buying a 42" one. (Especially considering the cost of them.)

I have the one in the link. They're not perfect, but they get the job done and they're cheap. I paid 199$ for mine.

Good to know man. Thanks for the link. I'd love a Brannick, but from a cost to use ratio your's would be better I think.

I may be able to get the old style pry bars from my dealer. I meet them at a whse that houses 3 dealers....

Better snap 'em up before they're gone!

I have up to a 42" in the old style, but I prefer the new handles on the larger bars.

That's quite a bit more surface area to grab. That's the only downside of the largest of the old style bars; lack of space to grab if you have to put your whole weight on it. The new big ones remind me of a Claymore or a hand-and a-half sword.

I ordered this corded Ryobi multi-tool off Home Depot's website and had them ship it to my local store. $27. Seems like a quality tool so far. It came today, and I used it to repair the storm door/door framing/casing. Came with a few sanding pads, a multi-purpose cutting blade, and an Allen wrench to change tools.

I had the cordless version of the Ryobi multi-tool but I sold it along with my other Ryobi cordless stuff to a friend when I decided to go the DeWalt route.

You can easily get two hands on it, I like them a lot. I hate them on the smaller bars, I was originally going to get the new ones, until I actually held one. On the really small ones, the new handle seems too big to get into tight spaces.

I'm happy with the new style pry bars, I used the old style (non striking) ones for a while and I liked them but I like the new ones. I wouldn't want the smallest one in the set to have a smaller handle. They feel good in the hand.

My MAC bars have a really long handle. Ive always like that better than the shorter handled pry bars.

Yeah good for what it is. I use a prep tool mainly to clean rotors before skimming. I did 4 pretty average rotors and flattened an older 1.5 a/h battery. I'm not sure what to really think of it yet. I bought the drill as a kit and the buffer as a body and it still comes with a fine and a coarse polish pad and a buff pad and all the attachments needed. I'll report back in a few days if you like.

Yeah please if you don't mind!
I have the 3/8 impact so I'm looking at just getting the body when my dealer can get one.

Yeah I have most the range, don't need the saw. The rattle gun is by far and away my favourite. The ratchet is good but has serious limitations. The drill feels real ballsy. I'll let you know.

I just a received my Lang Snap Ring Pliers Set as well, and noticed the tips are slightly bent / angled on each of them, that is that intentional, right?

Overall, quality seems sturdy, a bit of extra plastic sticking out of the blow-molded case (no biggie), the positioning of the last circlip plier in the case has to be oriented the other way for proper closure of the case.

Had immediate use for them as I had to clean out a ratchet head on an SK ratchet.

The external / internal settings are okay.

Here are my last purchases....

Received my new Williams USA wrench set yesterday.

Now my old Blue Point USA wrenches get moved down to second string. In 25 years of using them I never had a single issue or complaint, I just wanted two full sets of combination wrenches and decided to go full polish this time.

I've also been chipping away with replacing my old Snap On orange handle screwdrivers with Williams USA. The last one is backordered. Once it comes in I'll have a nice matching set of fresh screwdrivers that should last me until I take the big dirt nap.

There wasn't anything wrong with my old orange handle Snap Ons. I just wanted a nice fresh new set to use since I've been using the orange ones since the early 90s and they're just getting shabby and beat up.

Antique Engine, we've got a lot in common judging by your new tools. I have the same set of Williams Supercombos, the same set of Williams screwdrivers, and the Vessel Megadoras (I spy one in your screwdriver drawer). All good stuff!
