Snapon still make the standard handle Snap-On pry bars.
My dealer told me earlier today that they've just killed them off. Any orders for the old prybars are superceded by new bars once old stock has run out.
I just bought a near-new set of the old handled ones because of this.
Ditto for me. I have access to three Snap On drivers in my area and good relationships with all of them. They all said the same thing. The old hard handles are out. I managed to score a set of red old handled ones from one of the drivers who held a few sets back for his own use. New-in-box and with a warranty. I can't complain.
I really wanted black but all he had was red or orange. If anyone wants to trade NIB red for NIB black let me know...Still trying to figure out whether I like the red or not.
A few months ago my dealer mentioned that production had ceased, and the few sets he had in stock were sold quite quickly. The set i just bought is very lightly used, and about half of retail so i'm happy with it. I already have a set at work i bought new.
Just bear in mind, if you break one it'll be replaced with a new style one.
I have a 36" with the old handle and now regret not buying the 42" (?) to match, but i have a 60" bar i use when i need it so maybe not a problem.

I'd be interested to know how this one works out for you.
Yea the only reason I bought at retail was because they're drying up.
At half of retail you got a really good deal. I actually like the newer style on everything except the smallest two bars. With those two clearance can become an issue. I should be ok as far as breakage is concerned. I just work on personal vehicles out of my home garage. Never go out there in cold weather either.
I think I might have to hit up the 'bay for a 36'er. 42" would be nice too. I have a 36" and 48" from Mayhew, but honestly I prefer the Snappys even though they cost more. I really hate they discontinued the hard handles; though the Instinct drivers are pretty nice.

I have the one in the link. They're not perfect, but they get the job done and they're cheap. I paid 199$ for mine.

I may be able to get the old style pry bars from my dealer. I meet them at a whse that houses 3 dealers....
I said I can't afford to buy clothes after seeing him, so he gave me some more T Shirts!!

I kinda like that shirt. Is there a part number on the packaging anywhere?
That's quite a bit more surface area to grab. That's the only downside of the largest of the old style bars; lack of space to grab if you have to put your whole weight on it. The new big ones remind me of a Claymore or a hand-and a-half sword.

Hard plastic/rubber give, they flex some. They seem pretty nice. How are the handles on those? Hard plastic / rubberized / bimaterial?
You can easily get two hands on it, I like them a lot. I hate them on the smaller bars, I was originally going to get the new ones, until I actually held one. On the really small ones, the new handle seems too big to get into tight spaces.
How's the prep tool? Does it come with any pads etc?
I'm hoping we get them over here in the uk soon.
Does a box count?
Yeah good for what it is. I use a prep tool mainly to clean rotors before skimming. I did 4 pretty average rotors and flattened an older 1.5 a/h battery. I'm not sure what to really think of it yet. I bought the drill as a kit and the buffer as a body and it still comes with a fine and a coarse polish pad and a buff pad and all the attachments needed. I'll report back in a few days if you like.
Yeah please if you don't mind!
I have the 3/8 impact so I'm looking at just getting the body when my dealer can get one.
