they switched production to China a few years ago. Any USA sets now are NOS. And yes I've held them in my hand in the store and looked at it personally.

The product picture on Sears.com still has the "Made in the USA" stamped into the box. Probably just an old pic.

I found Craftsman Professional prybar set in store for $26 today. They also had craftsman clamps about half off. I picked up the 6" one for $7 based on the recommendation of someone earlier in this thread.

A single Pro pry bar by itself, or the set?

$26 for the 3pc set? I just bought the set a few days ago at $52. Luckily with points and store credit I paid a lot less. I don't know what it is about my store but I never see any good in-store sales. Maybe it's just me???

Yes the three piece set. I had just bought the standard craftsman set last week but couldn't pass these up, especially since they match my screwdrivers.

On a related note, the 3-piece sets by Wilde are finally on their way out.

Page 27 of the ad for the week of June 12th.

wow....just wow....

Let's get back on topic please. I don't really care if one person doesn't understand differences between China and Taiwan. I just want to see DEALS!!!!

Especially USA or Taiwan made :)

I've had my eye on those also. The idea of it seems good but I'm curious if they actually work.

These are just Gearwrench ones rebranded as Craftsman. They work nicely, but aren't for heavy torquing. I believe that the actual items are black and red. Why Sears shows a brown one is beyond me.

Here's a review:

Anyone tried these?

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-pi...p-00912624000P?prdNo=5&blockNo=5&blockType=G5

I just picked up 3 of the SK 3/8" Palm Ratchets from the other thread but I'm kind of intrigued by the gimbal in these ones. Seems to have quite good reviews to boot and they're on at half price.

These have been on clearance in stores for as low as $12.97 I believe.

I bought some of the Gearwrench ones. I thought they would be nice to have, but I didn't care for the (lack of) smoothness in the ratcheting mechanism and really couldn't think of a time I would ever use them over my regular thumbwheels.

I purchased a set of these when they first came out last year. They are a neat little tool, but I do not use them for pro mechanic work every day. I keep one in my drawer out in the shop where we build computers, it is very handy little deal for that work, but I have never had the need to drag them out into the auto bay for real wrenching.

I think a normal thumb ratchet in general is plenty for me, but it was the gimbal aspect of this one is what interested me. Although it's not too pricey at $30 and it has good reviews, I'll likely pass for now.

I can definitely see the use of this with the bit driver in building computers - good idea! Thanks for the feedback!

I'll have to keep an eye out. For $13 I might have to pick up a set.

These deals I posted on Sunday have rare sale prices, and they're still active for this week:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5800197&postcount=1929

All I got was points for cleaning supplies, but I know two people that got $3 in surprise points valid on the Craftsman 13" tool bag in today's Kmart email titled: Catch points by surprise! Use ‘em today

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Craftsman Club members can get a $5 bonus for these $19.99 items (made overseas):

Craftsman 18 Ounce Flex Claw Hammer

Craftsman Ultimate Screwdriver Bit Set - 208 pcs

When paying with points, make sure you pay at least one cent out of pocket to get the $5 bonus!

Call 1-800-349-4358 and keep pressing 0 till the automated voice changes to a different voice.. Then select the number of the department you want to talk to.. I've had pretty good luck with that the couple times I've had to call

Well, I gave in and ordered those jack stands. I have a set that I've been using for a few years with good luck, but I really could use another set. I bought the Northern Tool ones (Torin under a different name) recently with the double locking mechanism as the ratcheting part and pin together made me feel a lot safer. However, after getting them the welds looked horrible. So bad that I was afraid to use them. The welds on my Craftsman 4 ton ones looked much better.

When they came on sale this time they seemed like an awesome deal. Then Sears sent me $10 surprise points, I had $2.50 already in points about to expire, so I ended up with them for $11.05 after tax.

I will admit that one review of them collapsing under a Jeep really does scare me. Anyone else worried to use these? While I mostly use them on cars, I do occasionally use them on my Ram 1500. I really do feel safer with the pin style, but the options are so much more limited for those.

$26.99
Craftsman 42 piece 1/4 and 3/8-inch Drive Bit and Torx Bit Socket Wrench Set

Received a set today - China, of course. First impressions: - chrome looked good on the individual bits, didn't seem quite as polished on the ratchet. Sockets seem to fit the ratchet and extension well. For $21 shipped, seems like a pretty good deal.

I keep watch for the $10 off $25, can usually find something I want. Today it's a Wen brad nailer - thought I'd give it a whirl; at $13.74 shipped, can't go too wrong. If it dies, not out much.

http://www.sears.com/search=00929054000

Internet search had them priced from $26 to $35 + shipping, so $13 seemed like a reasonable gamble. Then there's this, I don't know how biased:
http://bestreviews.com/best-nail-guns

And:
http://www.diyfidelity.com/air-nailer-reviews/

I'd like to read your thoughts on how this works out for you. I am usually a bit leery of cheap nail guns.... but I am a bit unsure why.

Put the brad nailer through it's paces today, putting up the last of the trim on our new kitchen window and siding, (all outside). Drove 2" brad nails like there was no tomorrow. No misfires, ran through a stick and a half of nails. Almost paid for itself in convenience on one job. Nice light nailer.
