Pic 1--Reed 204R vise

Pic 2 & 3--Had the Red Arrow little vise without the Columbian name or model number 63 on it. This one is same size as my other one, but with Columbian and number 63 on it. Will keep so can show comparison between the two.

Pic 4--Vtg Coal Miner Mining Cap/Hat & Carbide Lamp but missing the Belt Carbide Tank which would have fed the Carbide lamp via a rubber hose and would have attached to the belt

cb: Nice haul, especially love the pristine C-man viscosity tool.

Mike: some amazing finds there!

I'm stuck in Ottawa most of this week with no sale/picking prospects after hours. I may go look up a pawn shop tonight, if there are any nearby...

Cody, Outlaw, what type of device are you guys using? I can see my pictures from a PC even when not logged into GJ.

I posted image links from an album here on GJ. Did I do it wrong ?

I'm seeing all your pictures 3bay, as posted on June 11th for example. I use an older model Macbook and Safari. No issues viewing your posts yet.

Last items from yard sales on Saturday.

pic 1--Coleman Catalytic Heater Model 5033

pic 2--pair of vintage juggling pins. When wife saw them, she asked where the third one was. Learned they come in three's!!!

pic 3-- Vtg Trucker's Billy Club with Leather wrap base and lead filled business end. Looks like it has been used!!!

pic 4-6--Architectural Salvage. Vintage Brass window stays. Total of 8. Rods are 14-1/2 inches long. Total weight of around 2 pounds for each window stay.

pic 7--These additional items came with window stays, but are 12" brass door plate, Spring loaded swinging door hinge, couple of brass door handles, coat hook, couple of odd size brass stops and the brass screws to go with them. Total weight in brass in bucket from pics 4-7 was 30 lbs. However, I'm hoping to find someone who needs them for a restoration versus scrapping.

No pix on my PC as well.

Sorry to talk technical problems here, but this is interesting. Are you guys logged in?

Rmalkow, I posted the pics from an Ipad using Safari but would it make a difference? They show up for me using Explorer on my PC when not even logged in. Guess I'll go back to thumbnails. Photobucket has been too slow to bother with so I tried using the albums.

Found 3 replacement kits for the 3/8 craftsman stainless ratchets this past weekend - found the lifetime stainless ratchet 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Those aren't juggling pins. The balance and weight are off.
Those would be Indian Clubs. They were used in the gym (or home) for building upper body strength and mobility. They came in pairs, one for each hand.

That's what I love about this forum and thanks for passing along the real name being Indian Clubs!!!

The website you sent along also helped as well.

Thanks again,

Yeah. I checked using IE and Firefox - still no pix. I don't even see an icon with an 'x' indicating a broken link to an image.

Pic 1 & 2--A Hart Mfg Co Carpenter Square. 24 x 17.

nice 1, it prob originally a 18"er. see if orphan 1 and 7 at the end of blade. note no orphan numerals at the 24" end. i'd like to have it for my 24x18" square collection. i don't have that brand, i got extra 18"ers to trade.:D 18"ers were made that way mostly for ballon construction framing, most been cut down for modern framing.:D

PC, Chrome,

Mac: Safari.

I can see the link (text) in a quote, but you seem to be using a URL link and you need to use an IMG link for images. (Use the postcard Luke...)

EBTH keeps listing machinist chests on their Columbus auction site, so I keep buying them. The latest is a Kennedy 26" wide with user-made base (very well made too!) and an ample supply of machinist tools - mostly Starrett and good-quality Craftsman with the crown logo.

Top well of the chest - original felt - very nice!

The condition of the chest is excellent with only wear shown is on the lower edge of the front panel where it slides underneath the bottom drawer.

Frog: I'm always looking for deals on those too. Not sure what you paid, but it looks like the tools could pay for the box, with some left over. And that base is way cool too.

I took four extra pics of the Hart Mfg Co square and it does look like you surmised, that it was cut down at some point for modern framing.

My search on Hart Mfg Co items showed chisels and draw knives, so not sure how long they made framing squares.

To be honest I never tried to use Photobucket or similar. I hear a lot of complaints from people trying to post pics from there. It doesn't seem worth the hassle. I upload pics direct from my computer as thumbnails or as html links pasted using the GJ menus. Never had an issue uploading a picture.
If you upload the picture and then paste the html link in a post it's best to size the picture file down a bit before uploading to avoid the ginormus full screen problem many have.
I've never seen the point to using some middle man picture storage site. They all limit your use or want to charge more money at some point.

I've been using the Tapatalk app on my smartphone. Allows unlimited uploads of pictures directly from my phone--pretty much instant gratification.
I also use tapatalk and it works as you say "Most" of the time. But the pictures tend to bevvery large.

Shoot i just missed this snap-on box on craigslist for $20. It was posted 45 minutes ago but someone is picking it up in a hour. I tried everything from telling her i can pick it up in 20 minutes and even offered to pay her double but no go. Apparently the other person is driving a hour and half to get it so she doesn't want to back out on him.

its my understanding that square manufacturers were shearing them off as the 18"ers came outa style. where was it made? i been collecting them 40some year and have only 8, 6 different manufacturers. there r hard to find. thanks for pics.

I've noticed that if I take the picture with my camera app first and then post from the gallery in Tapatalk (as opposed to taking the pictures directly in T-talk), the pictures are not ginormous.

Just did a quick check online and there are various apps available for iPhone and Android that let you re-size an image. Not just to crop it but actually change the resolution so if using your phone a lot to post you can still scale the picture size down a bit so you can then post a larger picture but not over run the entire page. Check your preferred App Store for possibilities.

I didn't find any info on the square that told me where the square was mfg. However, did find the following from another forum, where they were trying to track back a chisel made by Hart Mfg Co.

"Hart Mfg. Co. has 3 entries in the DAT. The first
company made dies in Cleveland, so it doesn't seem
relevant.

The second entry cited squares marked Hart with a New
York City location and the third also showed NYC and
Kennsington Ct. as a location. This entry referred to
the company making drawknives. The second and third
entries mentioned a connection with Hart, Bliven &
Mead that "sold tools made by others." The working
dates were given as 1873 to 1879. It mentioned that
Hart, Bliven & Mead was bought out by Peck, Stow and
Wilcox but the date was unknown.

It is hard to draw any firm conclusions from this
information, but it seems that Hart Mfg. Co. may have
been a distributor working out of NYC at the end of
the 19th century."

I agree with the premise that someone should honor a commitment no matter who tries to undercut with various questionable tactics. I like her integrity. This looks like the same box.

My CL Score?

I never try to do any shady stuff to get deals. I sell on craigslist all the time and more then half the people tell me they will buy it and make a time to meet but never contact me again. I get a lot more time wasters then serious people so i gave her a option to let me buy it if she wanted it gone asap and threw some extra money in because i knew it was worth it. I am glad someone on here got it if i couldn't.

How would you have felt if you were the first person to respond, had a verbal agreement to a deal, and when you got there...you were told that somebody closer offered them $20 more and they figured you might not be serious due to past CL experiences? You would have felt like you got a raw deal and that she was shady for backing out on a deal that was agreed upon.

My rule is the first person who is on there way gets the item not the first person who agrees to buy it. I have had a lot of flakes selling on craigslist and a lot of people who say they will buy it for my price but back out. Since he was already on his way to get tje snap on box i didn't push it any more.

This past month a had a guy who texted me saying he will take a item i was selling and we made a day for both of us to meet then i didn't hear from him anymore. Was i suppose to hold that item for weeks waiting for this guy who said he was going to buy it? He texted me again this past week saying he said he must of lost my text and we agreed on a deal again but guess what he stopped responding again! If someone else contacts me about the item should i say sorry i have someone else who is supposed to be buying it so i have to hold it for him?

To me, those two statements contradict each other.

If those are the terms of your sale, i.e. the first person to arrive with cash get it, then so be it and no worries. I'm assuming this ad had no such stipulations. I get the wishy washy CL crowd as I deal with them too. If it's truly a great deal and there are multiple people vying for the same item, keep in mind there's a downside to pitting multiple buyers against each other...especially when they arrive simultaneously or back to back. If somebody is non-committal on picking something up that's fairly portable, no harm done in accepting another offer as long as you're up front about how you do business.

I agree with PSFard. I do the honorable thing; don't be like the the "usual CL ***" that won't honor a commitment "because Someone else didn't do it for me! Gotta fight back the flakes!" A man is only as good as their word.

I have had many flakes not show up, and I have had someone not wait for me for the thirty lousy minutes it took to get there (after me saying I was on my way) and was in the act of selling it when I pulled up to his garage. these types are simply trailer trash and what goes around, comes around... Karma can be a *****.

Cody, if someone flakes, no one would expect you to continue to hold the item, so your example makes no sense. If someone says they are on the way, "be there in an hour" and you say "fine" you made a commitment for that time. Do the honorable and meet that commitment.

This pretty much sums it up. Also, if you sell a lot on CL, people will remember you, and treat you accordingly.
