Paid too much? Not really, that's a good deal specially if you can use it. i think the low interest is because the jack isn't special like a walker type jack.

Thanks! I posted more pics in the Toolboxes thread on the Vintage board if you want a closer look.Private Lugz- that's a pretty neat box.
This is my little estate haul. I went to one sale late in the afternoon.
Blackhawk sockets with Indian logo 1-1/16,1-1/8,1-1/4
!
Not saying it's a TOBRIN, but TOBRIN is the only maker I know that forged the size of the screwdriver (blade length) on the tip like that.Unknown rusty pliers, and screwdriver.

Very nice complete set, Blue Frog, and even the roll-up is in great shape. The weave of the canvas and the hardware says 1950's and so do the finish and handles on those WALDEN drivers. Nice find!
Very good eye, ttpete. When I dumped the tools out I could see that the box had thin uniform slots for partitions where the magazines went. It's a French Benet Mercie MG ammo box, used also for a short time by the USMC. If you're interested in a closer look, I plan to post more pictures in the GJ Toolboxes thread on the Vintage board shortly.
Well done, Joe! With all that tooling in the deal, you earned a ticket to YouSuck-sville!!Picked up my 12 x 36 Altlas lathe yesterday. When I got there I also was given all this tooling. I have no idea what to do with all of it but free is good. Oh it also came with this very sad Gerstner tool box. He threw in a very well used and heavily repaired 6" Columbian fixed base vise, but you all know how I feel about Columbians... best of all is that he has every piece of paper from when his dad bought it in 1961; manuals, bench setup instructions, laminated oiling instructions, bench setup etc...
Not a bad deal for $400...now if only I can figure out how to use it[emoji38]_hitti
That's a fairly rare piece, because those guns were not used much. I think the only time they were fired in anger was during Pancho Villa's raid on Columbus NM during the pre-WWI unpleasantness along the border. They didn't work well then.
They were actually of French Hotchkiss design, and were also British issue under the name of Hotchkiss Portative. I have a book written by Captain Julian Hatcher from 1917 that describes the gun and has operation and repair instructions.
Alinc - I have two of those PalmGrip ratchets. Both 3/8dr. Once cleaned and lubed they work great. I can get a better grip with it than my SnapOn, SK, Craftsman, or HF thumb grips. Good find !![]()

Combos - 10mm Craftsman SK, Blue Point DOE , SO driver, Proto DOE, Whitney Jr. No. 5 punch with a 1924 pat. date.
& Indestro and $4 for 3 No name wood handled drivers - the small one marked "Made in Germany"
) that, with some mods, will probably become a bathroom vanity in our Master Bath. The pic is over flashed the finish, while not pristine, (needs refinished and both side panels have veneer chipped off) is more like the right side than the left shows.Alinc - I have two of those PalmGrip ratchets. I have a couple of those palm grips also. one Kent-Moore, one no-name knock off. Agree they work great. I wonder if K-M made a 1/2 that could be swamped into one of these or if they even made a 1/2 drive ratchet?
,you had me curious so I went out in the shop and found a PalmGrip ratchet and the KAL palm ratchet from today. The PalmGrip one is much more comfortable/refined.The KAL one has sharper edges and is just overall a cheaper made unit. The KAL was bone dry and the PalmGrip had grease remnants circa WWII.Now both are cleaned and re-lubed with Superlube. They are both smooth but the PalmGrip is light years ahead in ergonomics. It was as good as advertised!Meh. I'll be upstate on Saturday, and this one isn't "on the way".
This one is, though :evil

$15 for the lot.
Misc buckles
Reed 403.5. No Letter after the number
Fantastic sale, based off what was left, I couldn't imagine what was there.
Line up the gouges and see if the angle matches...Found a big sale, lot of goodies, missed some deals as I didn't think he would come off the marked prices, but I cant complain.
Grabbed a 1/3 HP block grinder, looks like he added a dedicated guide on the left. This was out of a big time wood worker so not sure what he was sharpening on it.
Aluminum Columbian wood vise
Pony 3 way clamps
Some dividers
Small Crescent wrench
Black Diamond files
Pipe jaws for unknown vise
Brass Grease gun
Vintage wood gouges Knott and Son, DR Barton, RI Sorby, Buck Brothers.
Spent a good bit of time moving 2 good size staghorn ferns. Hope to sell one to cover the cost of both.
Pretty good day !
Brian
