Welcome Dean!Great job on the box!If my granddaughter wanted one of my machinist boxes painted pink,I would do it in a heartbeat.I hope you are able to teach your daughter the basics, like measuring, cutting and fastening. These things alone will give anyone a leg up in life.

First post, have an old new Britain toolbox that was given to me by my first boss. It was painted blue (poorly). I am in the process of restoring it for my daughter. I know the are a few that will cringe at the thought of me painting it, but it had already been repainted once or twice, so the originality is out the window. I let my daughter choose the color, and she chose pink. While sanding it down I discovered the manufacture date was 7/68 on both the top and bottom. I have the top finished.

Looks cute! Can you post a picture of the whole box?

Does anyone have any info on the Matco MB1220 bottom roller?

Does it have roller or friction slides?
is it 36 wide and 21 deep? (about 44 high?) - Similar to the 1020?

Nice carry box. There was one like that, and several other nice hand boxes, at the swap meet last weekend. I didn't even bother asking for prices on them, because I need another carry box like I need a hole in my head (which I'd likely get from the GF if I bring another one home).

Though I AM looking for a small one (12" or so) or two for my office tool set and possibly for the house tool set too.

This Ward's POWR KRAFT stack followed me home today. :rocker:
Has a bunch of honest wear.

That would have certainly followed me home too. Excellent grab.

this is what followed me home tonight. (after a 6+ hour round trip)

Late 80's MATCO MB1220, paired up by the factory! I've been looking for this configurations in MATCO, or Lista/Vidmar for quite some time and I finally found it!

All Roller slides, 10800 Square Inches of drawer space no overly deep drawers, and overall size is a doable 72W X 21D X 45-1/2" tall

This will take a few days to get the space cleared for it to go into. (including a bit of Garage Tetris...) at least two, possibly three rollers go away after this is filled...

I have been wanting to post these boxes for a couple of years but just figured out how to do it. I got the Bonney box and the Cornwell boxes at the same small wed. nite auctions a few weeks apart. The Cornwell boxes were a little rough but sure restore able but the Bonney was as nice as could be. It had the gentlemans name stenciled on it along with the date 1955. 65.95 was also stenciled on it and the brass stencils it appears he used were also in the drawers. I dont know what company built these boxes but would appear to be the same. I'm sure someone on here knows.

Nice Harry !! I have my dads old Cornwell roller but lost the front cover.
Picked up a top box a while ago and it has the Cornwell man logo on the front.

Just pulled this one out for an estate. Belonged to an old mechanic. I was asked how old and what it's worth. I've never seen one painted like this. Thoughts?

Nice score, Outlaw! I'm assuming the price was quite to your liking?

That set is awesome. I did not know the factory would "pair" boxes. That's a lot of storage. Congrats on finding something you really wanted. Have fun with Tetris.

Taking a short "cool off" break from Tetris!

Thanks guys!

I'm making progress on the Tetris. I got one space cleared for the initial move of a BIG floor chest (former Dental/medical chest) that stores mostly fasteners and other supplies. (Part the of "Dad's Hardware store")

The good news is it's drawers have simple flip latches so once the full path is clear from current to new location, its easy to "empty" it without unloading the dang drawers.

Back before double banks were popular (early-late 80s), people would double up two single bank units. Matco and Mac were the most prevalent in selling kits to bolt two single bank units into one "double bank" box. Snap on wasn't very keen on it though. Those are ~equivalent to the KR655. ~36"x21" deep.

On another break for something to eat...

Yep very close to the SO; these have 9 drawers vs 8, so assuming similar height, less of a deep tub for that bottom drawer, which I hate. I don't keep bulky tall things in my tool box, so a drawer like that gets stacked/piled up too much...

I stopped by a estate sale today and found this beauty in the corner for a whopping $25. After a quick wash it looks great to me considering it is dated 1958 making it 58 years old. It will be a welcome addition to my 6 craftsman boxes.

G'day,
I picked up this nice Rota cantilevered mechanics chest for my collection of Australian made gear. Showing a bit of age but generally good condition with a lovely smooth action and original decals still in place.

Great snag at that price, I couldn't have gotten in the back of my truck fast enough. I didn't realize those drawer pulls were used that late, my 1958 Snap-On box has that same emblem but with full width pulls.
