Speaking of RR stands ... and word from the foundry VISEs?
Hey guys , ive just come across an 8" Columbian with swivel base for sale. Seller didnt say much more that that. How much should i expect to pay for this tank if its in fair shape.
Had one of my new contacts come by with these two beauties...an early Parker 271 1/2 and a Parker 973 1/2. Very happy with both. Just look at that condition!
Almost every 271-272 I've found has had the back of the static, behind the swivel jaw, broken off.
I'm thinking of just dipping them and then BLO and baking them. they are so pristine.

Honestly that's OK because it lets me fantasize about it a little longer ... I imagine they're going to come back with a price tag way bigger than my pocketbook. But it sure is nice to dream!!Nada. They really are dragging their feet.

Pittsburgh Vise Catalog
So apparently there will be no copies made of the Pittsburgh vise catalog now since the ebay seller just told me this. Apparently the buyer whined too much about copies being made and the seller will no longer be making copies. So with that being said, its safe to say that the buyer is a big crybaby and is also a member of GJ.![]()

The seller may have just told the buyer that no copies will be made until a certain time period has past in the where buyer cant renig on the auction. Copies might still be made.afterwards He has the copies as a pdf.![]()
Wrench: your Rigid stand almost looks like a gun mount maybe from a battleship or fort. I can't say i've seen one like that.
i believe it was supplied by rigid or the wholesaler/retailer when the vise was new. its solid heavy.
Mark, but the possibility exists that (dare I say it), he just got tired of fooling with it.

I've seen a lot of those, any idea who made them?

Define "seen lots of them"....I assume you mean in pictures as these 8" German vises are as hard to find as a Reed 8" vise.
I have looked and looked for the manufacturer of this vice and some of my others. But I have no idea... the only identifying marks are in these pictures.
Here is another one.

out of curiousity.. what paint and primer do you guys use? what have you found holds up the best after restore and use?
What is this worth? I have been needing a vise for a while and don't want to get some harbor freight junk.. At my old shop we would use the vise sometimes for bearing into knuckle jobs..is the 3.5" jaw going to be a limiting factor? Thanks

Snagged another 7" wilton the other day. Fiancee could not understand why I needed a duplicate so I figured I'd post here and seek the comfort of other vise-aholics
You could ask: How many purses, pairs of shoes, pairs of earrings do you own, honey?![]()
But seriously, I wish I had a second woodworking vise for the other end of the workbench for long wood workpieces.
